http://www.warbirdsnews.com/warbirds-news/warbird-collections/commemorative-air-force-news/1933-lockheed-vega-display-caf-airbase-arizona.html Finally!!! One of my planes made it into a museum. I have been painting WWII era AC for years. It has largely been just a good paying hobby. But this 1933 Vega is headed for A museum! Yay for me. I was kind of disappointed in the fact that the plane was not as elaborate as some of my other works, but hey.......I cannot complain. I really kind of wish it had been one of my pinup girls though. I finished this plane in 2013 I think. The guy who did the actual restore is Rick Barter out of Marana Arizona. It was his last plane due to health reasons. He retired a year later. Obviously, my artwork is not the reason that it is going (or has gone) into a museum. It is one of only 3 left. The other two are in the Smithsonian I think. Although I'm not sure. I do believe that this is the only one that is air worthy. Again....not too sure. I'm thinking that the other two are reproductions because one of them is suppose to be the model Amelia Eaheart flew cross country "solo". The last time I actually saw the plane it still had the engine off, and was a couple weeks from completion. It took several years to rebuild as Rick fabricated much of it in his shop. I only just found out about this today. Goes to show that I don't keep very good track of my works. I pretty much just paint em and forget em........ :pilotfly:

27 November 2015 DCS Weekend Update

Wow.....Sounds like we're all gonna have to just sit back and hold on for the ride. Lots of patience. It's all good. -
Great game but very hard for beginners...

All flight sims are pretty much learn as you go and on your own. Xplane has a steeper learning curve that DCS, and it's forums are not very noob friendly much of the time. There are no instructional vids that come with Xplane, and you have to learn and deal with the same issues that exist in DCS. Their graphics setup alone is a nightmare for any beginner. Same with FSX, only FSX has a lot more YouTube stuff out there because of it's popularity. But all flight sims, or games, that take themselves seriously are this way. I do not or understand why, but that's just the way it all evolved. I started simming with Xplane and thought that sims were just a ridiculous waste of time after a short period. Why??? For the exact reasons that the OP stated. When I came to DCS, it was a huge difference and adjustment, but you got to just stick with it and take it for what it is. I was so pi$$ed at ED when I started that I was permanently banned for quite some time. I still have the red boxes from back then. But I just kept persisting at it and came to the realization that this is what it is, and it's not for everyone. And thank God for that. We'd have every "Call of Duty" and "Battlefield" teen hacking, and shooting everything that flew in the servers. I believe that ED knows this, and want's the people here who have the patience, sense, and sticktuitiveness to fly a sim correctly. Is it a game??? Is it a Sim??? It's an expensive hobby. Nothing more. -

Saturday morning. Still no 2.0.......I'm going back to bed...................... -
All great explanations. Thanks! SO, if I am understanding correctly. The supercharger is more for better effifiency at different altitudes? And, if I am on the deck, it is unwise to manually kick the supercharger into high for any kind of boost as it would have the opposate effect on the engine. I was thinking of binding the supercharger settings to my X52 but it seems there would be no real benifit to it because it's not really something that you do on the fly. And "auto" would seem to be the best place to keep it unless I'm in need of the extra power to climb between the 12,000 to 16,000 ft range or something like that? The Mustang always seems to struggle when made to function in this area. Crumpp: Got your post just now. So the high should never really be used?? Unless I'm on the ground testing?

DCS is pretty much like any other flight sim software. Steep learning curve, little actual instruction on how to prepare, and a he!! of a lot of intense fun. The difference with DCS is that this thing is the most realistic sim out there in both detail, flight characteristics, and quality. Not to mention it's price. Just hang out, ask whatever questions you need to, and enjoy. People here are all too happy to get you going in the right direction. If you have issues with the planes, you can ask here or Youtube is a wealth of information, and instructional videos. Trust me (and all of us). You'll love this simulator, and you'll learn quickly if you ask questions, and make friends. -
As a casual flier, I don't always take a lot of time to learn the specifics of many of the functions of these planes. I fly, and if everything seems to work OK, I don't usually take it much further than that. However, I really want to pull as much power and agility out of the Mustang as I can. And was wondering how the supercharger effects the performance of the plane. Does it help while in a dogfight? And when is the best time to set it to high or low performance? I know that many of you guys use it, and understand it's properties very well. So could anyone shed some light on this subject for me?? Thx!!!

Yeah, my account with you guys says it's processing still. It could be the flood of orders your getting. I'll chill for a while and see what happens. I tried to tie it to my DCS account. It said that it was done but has not shown up there either.
-
Does it only show up on the account I just created with you, or is it suppose to show up in my DCS account also??? I did not get an email.

Things just keep looking better and better!!!! Thanks a bunch guys!!

Plus....When a sim competitor (need not mention his name) came out with their 10 version. The price went from $39 for the 9 version, to $80 for the 10 version and you lost several important features in the newer version. Plus, the upgrades were so minimal that you had to wonder where the price difference came from. I never made any sense from that. If DCS want's to charge an extra $10 for their modules, I have absolutely no beef whatsoever. They aren't charging me for a whole new 2.0 version. I don't buy every module that comes out because I know I'll never fly them. The one's that I do purchase, I get plenty of use from. Sorry I talked about price increase there guys. Had not read that far into thread. -

Yeah.....Am excited to read about NTTR! Can't hardly wait. The Spitfire is pretty Exciting also. Although the bundle sale won't bring me much benefit. I already own all of that stuff. I'm looking forward to a great new year with DCS! I get that the NTTR map is on sale now and have purchased it. But for those who cannot get it now because of $$$$. Just look at it like this: If you have some bonus dollars saved up in your DCS purchase account. You can easily just use them and get it for the same price that you'll be paying now. It all works out in the same in the end. -
Sorry about this mods. The other thread got so messed up and move around so much that I didn't see any benefit to posting this there. If you could just nix the other thread and leave this one, I would really appreciate it. This is a revised version of what I posted yesterday. The photo quality is much better and I added button #5 that I forgot. Thx!!!
-
Yeah...changed it in the actual post but stayed the same in the thread column.
-
Umm....mods??? Can we change this back to it's original title please??? "X52 assignment sheet" Thx........ Never mind guys. Was my mistake from the start.
-
THX...took some time but I finally got it.
-
Whew....there
-
Hey folks. A while back I got a sheet from someone here to document key assignments for the X52 pro. And while I was very thankful and grateful to whoever posted it. I found that there were a few things that I would have liked to have added to it. So....I am using a standard X52 right now and decided to create a sheet for it. I added all of the button numbers in this version for quick reference while assigning in game. I hope that some of you can get some use from this. I find it to be a great tool for me.

Autopilot explanation (great video)
Zimmerdylan replied to Zimmerdylan's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Here: Maybe this can help a little. I get where you are coming from. Lots of times, when I have to do evasive action or something, I feel the same way. [ame] [/ame] -
Thanks so much to the folks who posted this video on YouTube. I knew that I was spending quite a bit of time fighting the autopilot. It seemed counter intuitive to me and in fact it can be if you don't understand how it works.:megalol: This video helped me to understand and hopefully others who don't quite know why their heli is sliding and slipping around sometimes. Again....Thanks Teach Yourself DCS! [ame] [/ame] Sorry if this vid has been posted at some point. It's worth posting again in my book. :smartass:
