  1. Exactly why DCS gets 0 business from me any more. This is not an isolated thing. There are so many things that were promised over the years, so many little issues that have never been addressed......Yet they re-issue the F-5 , A-10 and want more money.........I understand that the contract we sign upon purchase says that we have no say in what happens, that we are just users of the property of DCS. I get it. I'm not complaining about that. I'm just stating a fact, and how I deal with it. No progress or completion on their part, no more money on my part. It's just that simple.
  2. Thanks for the response. You actually helped me on this. I went up and started researching Miz. files and how to access them. And yes, I have to download software to do this. I will try and work it out this way. But I'm a bit miffed at ED. No other sim, game, or software that I have requires this of me. At this point I am assuming the role of a developer and in my mind, If I have to do developer's tasks in DCS, I should get a say in the development. Obviously ED can't or doesn't seem to care. I shouldn't have to do this nonsense. This is why I rarely fly DCS any more.
  3. I have read a few threads on this problem and none of them address my issue. For years now I have used the ME to load out weapons for the A10- A10II. I just select from the loadout page and when I get into the mission, the loadout appears in the DSMS. What has changed? It's never been a problem. Now, for the past year or so, I cannot get any weapons to appear in the DSMS at all. No matter what I do. The reason I have been dealing with this for a year is that I have become so discouraged with DCS and all of it's issues that I just give up on trying and hope that they fix this stuff. I try from time to time but....it's business as usual. I read threads about miz. files. I tried to delete the right files. But maybe I'm doing something wrong because I cannot find Miz. files. I am looking in "saved games". All I see there is the mission file name in white. There is no file. Only a white icon of a piece of paper (not a file) and the name of the mission. When I try to open it, I get asked what to open it with and nothing opens it. It's not zipped. It's not a file so far as I can see. I tried to delete mission files from old versions of the game as I read in another thread. I have tried everything. But the bottom line here is that I have been with DCS from day one. This whole file deleting ? moving / changing thing was never anything that I had to bother with. All I am doing is loading a simple mission with an aircraft that should have weapons on board. The mission is literally that simple. I have also found that people are saying that you load manually within the mission. Could someone please tell me how to fix this? I remember it being an issue some time ago within the community. At that time it was an issue on DCS's side. It was supposedly fixed. But I removed EVERYTHING DCS from my system and reloaded so it's not left over from then. THX
  4. As of right now DCS and anything related is off of my system. I kind of think that I'm just done. I have been with this train wreck for 15 years. Of the several other sims that I have on my computer that work without issue 90% of the time DCS is the one that I spend more time looking for solutions than actually flying the sim. At times I have gone years without flying DCS because of the constant issues. When I eventually come back.....Same old issues. It's a shame. I see only in the DCS forums solutions like: "Move this file from here to here." "Change the name of that file." "Delete these files." I should not have to do any of this.....Ever. I never have to do it with any other game or sim that I play. That's the job of the developer. I use no mods. I never go on the servers. I set up simple flights in the M.E. I never make complicated missions with triggers or time lines. I am a casual user. I do not have the time nor the desire to waste on technical stuff that many of you seem to not have any issues with devoting your time to. It seems that DCS isn't for casual users but for those who wish to spend their time doing technical crap. So.......I find other sims much less stressful. Thanks for your input but I solved my issue.
  5. When I try and load missions from the M.E. I get booted to the desktop at the last part of the load. When I reach World Preload, it just boots me to the desk top. No explanation, no nothing. I've done repairs, dumped and reinstalled, everything. Any Ideas?
  6. "It's true - you paid a discount rate for an unfinished product, and that's exactly what you got." There was a time that I would have had no problems with your response. But seeing that I have several unfinished modules of more than 5 or 6 years........Well. ED has a reputation. It's well earned. I don't see why this terrain will improve much over time. ED sometimes doesn't finish it's products.
  7. "So, in tandem to the other thread, I cant say enough how dissapointed I am to have shelled out more money for the supposed "cutting edge" tech and latest improvements in DCS terrain rendering....to get what is simply put yet another example of blurry textures laid over terrain mesh with -really, definition points measured in the hundreds of metres rather than the centimetres that I was getting in FSX 15 years ago......mountain ranges with dead straight ridgelines hundreds of metres apart....mountain sides comprising flat planes with low res testures pasted over. Repetitive low res textures with detailed areas plonked over the top with no blending. Its really, really dissappointing after the same crap in Kola and SA. Check out these screen shots. Honestly, there are areas of the Caucusus and NTTR that look better than this. Is this really 15 years progress in scenery development in DCS?" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I would have to agree with this guy. Doesn't look like they put a whole lot of work into this map. I flew it last night for the first time......I may as well go back to pretending that the deserts around Las Vegas are Afghanistan. They sure look as good if not better than this new map. Seems like every time I let my guard down and fork over cash to help the cause....I get what I pay for. Sorry ED......That's just the plain truth.
  8. Yeah......When I was in the military, no one ever, ever did that. We were all perfect gentlemen.
  9. I find the "Jester" guy insanely annoying to begin with so another voice telling me what to do would probably cause me to just stop flying the module. I haven't really flown the F-4 a whole lot yet but I know that when I get around to it, Jester will be the first thing I figure out how to turn off.
  10. Well.....The folks in Louisiana that seem to be up your alley are telling everyone that if they don't want to see it....Just don't look. Well....Don't listen. The road always goes both ways. I served......I served in combat. That language is a way of life in our military. I used it then and I use it now 40 years later. Everyone that I know from the Pilots in the helicopters and planes I jumped from to the people who trained me had those words rolling off their tongues pretty much all of the time. Not sure what military you served in but the last of my relatives who were in the D.O.A., M.I. stationed at the pentagon just retired this year and they used that language All of the time. They are only words. Nothing more.
  11. "TWO WEEKS! While I’m hopeful that people will finally chill, I have to disagree about it being funny. It’s very sad. The problem isn’t developers or delays, there are some broken humans around here that struggle with minor difficulties." Welcome to the future of the human race. It will only get worse from here. And I have to laugh because I see where it's going. If I don't look at it with humor, I'll go just as crazy. There is nothing anyone can do to stop this insanity so I take it in stride. It's all I can do. The outlook is not good. Sorry for going off topic so far.
  12. LOL......I love coming to this thread just to see what this conversation has descended into. It's just hilarious. Human nature on full display.
  13. Some of us here have been around a long time and know how all of this works. We have gone through broken promises, broken AC, products that never got finished, and of course there was the Hawk debacle. Remember the Hawk and that big mess guys? After all of these incidents, I never speculate, nor bother whining about any of this nonsense because you may as well shoot a dead horse who lost his hearing aides. They got your $$$, you agreed to the terms, now live with it. Go play with all of the other toys in your box because crying over this one will get you a whole lot of nothing.
  14. "It's a digital plane to fly around in for fun. It's not going to ruin your lives if it releases three months from now instead of TODAY, just because you want to use it. The people like myself who paid for it already got a discount, THAT is the reason to order early. They never gave any contractual promises that you could use the product at a given date. They said "we are hoping it will be released winter '24". I think a lot of people here need to really re-evaluate how they are reacting to what is a complete non-issue, and let the developers just get on with fixing the product so you can enjoy it better when it releases. Which it will, when it's ready. I say all this as a massive fan of the aircraft, but there is honestly far more important things to worry about in the world than when a digital plane gets to be flown." LOL!! Exactly!!! I still enjoy coming to this thread and seeing how everyone fidgets over it, contemplates it, argues over it's release, complains about it, panics over it, and vents frustration over it like a bunch of teenagers. Sorry guys, but hey....If the shoe fits....... It really floors me when people get so worked up over something that's not (for all intents and purposes) real. It's a genuine testament to the state of our species. Absolutely no ill feelings intended fellas.
  15. This is what happens when people live in the future and not the present. Speculation, anxiety, judgement....... It only leads to misery and conflict. Today is here today. Tomorrow doesn't exist. Reality is now. Try being here for a while. Tomorrow is only an idea in your head. It does not exist. LOL.......One day people will learn this and the world will be a better place.
  16. This is and always has been the standard way things have done in the internet software business. I am a 60 year old man and I know this. When you give your money to anyone on line for software, you agree that the software does not in any way belong to you. You are paying for the right to use their software. They reserve the right to do whatever they see fit with it and you have 0 input or control. Read the agreement that you glossed over and agreed to when you paid for it. It specifically says that they own it, you are allowed to use it and they are allowed to do whatever they want with it. You have no recourse. Everyone here should already know this stuff as it is, and always has been the standard for everything in the virtual internet age from the very beginning. Everything from Windows, to C.O.D. If you agreed to their terms, that's what you agreed to. So if this arrangement doesn't suit the purchaser, then maybe they should spend their money on something else. It is very much a buyer beware kind of thing and we all know this. So yes......Entitled.
  17. "Oh my....the sense of entitlement by some here..." That's why we are where we are as a culture today.
  18. LOL....I had no idea that there was a shirt. Didn't catch anything about it when I ordered. Not really concerned. I didn't buy the module to get a shirt to begin with.
  19. LOL....Cackle cackle, cluck cluck...........
  20. Blah blah blah blah....Thanks for getting the hens cackling and prompting endless speculation, complaint, and impatient posts that we're all going to have to put up with for months. Just release it when it's ready and stop blowing smoke where the sun won't shine already.
  21. "We deal with many bug reports, requests and wish lists. Not all of them can be resolved for many reasons, but I think you will agree that when you see our change logs its obvious to see we are working hard and we will continue to." It's just an opinion but I think that removing beta will help ED to focus on fixes, and upgrades much better. With thousands of "testers" reporting in the beta phase, many of which are probably nothing that actually needs to be dealt with due to user error and home system problems, ED can streamline and focus much better on actual known stuff. Open beta was always kind of a blind turkey shoot in my eyes.
  22. There are 0 good answers for this poll. Maybe you should have thought out the questions better. I think that all of us have modules that we are very good at and some that we never use and only fly for fun or whatever. I don't think that any one person is aces at all modules, and very few are here for only one module. Owned modules? Very few fall into any of the options that you offer. And the last question is pretty much the first question. My answer to you is.....Who cares? Not to be snide but we come fly here because we like what we are doing. This isn't COD or Battlefield where every teen and post teen player is obsessed with their KD ratio or ranking. DCS caters to a higher standard of player. None of that stuff matters to most of the people here.
  23. Not that this matters to me but.......Is ED doing away with Beta or did I misunderstand that post on the patch thread? I stopped using Beta years ago as I never really did any testing or report anything. It always seemed to me that they had plenty of people giving feedback so I never bothered with it. I am just curious. "For the past several years, we have released DCS in two forms: the Open Beta, which includes the most recent changes to allow broad testing and the Stable version which is based on the most recent Open Beta and has no known crashes, thus the term Stable. In 2024, we will be moving to unified DCS updates. This change has been a common customer request and will streamline our release process. We believe that it will also help avoid version confusion for both single-player missions and multiplayer servers. Starting with our first update of the year in February, we will also be making the same changes to the DCS Steam Edition. Please stay tuned for more details."
  24. Yup....There it was. Just not written in a way that I remembered it. Worked!!!
  25. I thought so but I didn't see it when I looked. Will look again. Thx
