Both beta's are larger than the original SCN file. This has to do with the compiler being less 'effective' then the one ED uses. Still, all necessary data is in it plus a lot of air :D

Listen up! Download new (beta2) scenery file here...! http://rapidshare.de/files/10792013/high_beta2.zip.html The following airbases are reworked: Anapa Belbek Gelendzhik Gvardesyskoye Kerch Kersones Kraznogvardeysk Majkop Novorossiysk Oktyabrskoye Saki Simferopol Sochi SukhumiInstallation: 1. Back-up and remove file High.scn in folder ...Lockon\bazar\terrain\scenes 2. Unzip the downloaded file in the folder mentioned above. 3. start LockOn, select scenes=high in the graphics menu and FLY! Beta testers wanted! I've been busy creating the new scenery and had only time do some basic visual testing. Before I release Beta3 (final version) I would like you to try out this Beta2 scenery. Things to check: - AI vehicules cruising on/around the airfield oke? - AI vehicules crossing bridges oke? - shelters doors behaving oke? - Aircraft/helicopters take-off/land oke? - trees won't dissapear when looked at from certain angles? - added objects look oke in all seasons? So gimme some feedback. You like what you see so far? Any suggestions? Don't forget to post some screenshots in the 'user-screens' section of this forum. An most of all, Have fun! Next projects: Only 7 bases to go, starting with Gudauta. PS: I just found out that an ammunition-depot at Saki and Novorossiysk have been accidently replaced by a Fortress. Due to the same typo-error the fuel storage area's at the airbases have large garages that shouldn't be there. I'm very sorry for this mistake and it will be corrected in the next release. PPS: Thanks again to Swingkid, Alfa, ED and anyone I might have forgottten, for making it all possible.

Thanks for the compliments. Progress report: Novorossiysk is done. Only 25 tree-formations were added (for comparison, Anapa has 176 additional tree-formations). I also added 18 static objects. Next project; 2 more naval-bases before the Beta2 release. Novorossiysk shots, both taken with scenes set to LOW and visibility set to HIGH.
-
I'll give you a hint: It's smoking Can you guess what happens at high cross winds? ;) PS:beta2 will follow as soon as the naval bases (3) are done. Hang in there....

First of, all Happy new year !! Progress report: Gvardesyskoye and Simferopol' are done. Next project are lockOn's naval bases. PS, as you can see in this shot I removed the un-used Aircraft Shelters at Gvardesyskoye.
-
Progress report. Kraznogvardeysk done. next project: Gvardesyskoye & Simferopol (although the later won'ty contain much trees being an international airport) As you might have noticed, trees aren't the only objects added. Can you see what's new in this shot ;)

This would be quite easy but people that have framerate problems using HIGH scenes will probably also have problems when I add trees in the MEDIUM scene file. Further more I sometimes continue trees where the original scene file stops. The added trees might therefor look a bit out of place at times when I add them in the medium scene file. But if more peeps want it no prob, I can make a medium (or even LOW) scene file later on. Happy hollidays

Installation: Backup file high.scn in folder ..lockon\bazar\terrain\scenes and remove it. unzip the dowloaded file in the above folder and rename it high.scn Start LockOn, select scenes=high in the graphics menu and FLY!

Hi zaGURUinzaSKY, It's a mod of the default LockOn scenery @ AMVI_Surgeon; the scenery file I'm modding comprises all objects in the current theatre. Runways however are not among them, these are defined in other files.
-
Progress report. Oktyabrskoye is done. Next project: Kraznogvardeysk
-
On my rig FPS drops from 30 to 27 when landing in kerch with the extra trees. I haven't noticed any stuttering. Yeah, the hosting site isn't top notch, but it's free. Feel free to mirror.

I decided to start a new thread since the "Adding trees" mod has evolved; The added trees are now being integrated into one new scenery file! Download new (beta) scenery file here...! http://rapidshare.de/files/9284285/high_beta1.zip.html Benefits: one file does it all, Added trees are loaded by default, no need to use utilities or to copy/rename object files, no need to edit old mission- or campaign files, Added trees no longer stick out as static objects do, Weapons will no longer lock on to the added trees, Added trees will no longer sink into the ground when hit by armour or shrapnel.Installation: Backup file high.scn in folder ..lockon\bazar\terrain\scenes and remove it. unzip the dowloaded file in the above folder and rename it high.scn Start LockOn, select scenes=high in the graphics menu and FLY!Note: This is a Beta version meaning some work has to be done; The compilation software is not running perfect yet so some default objects might be missing and only 6 airbases have been re-done so far: Sukhumi Anapa Sochi-Adler Kerch-Bacherovo Belbek MaykopSome shots.... More shots in the 'users screens' section Go ahead and have a go. It's worth it, you'll see!

Actually, converting the static objects Trees to regurly trees is more time consumig then you might think. Besides converting the coordinates, the altitude and slope has to verified. ED used a program to generate most forests but a lot of tree-formation where placed by hand. You are right about the statics vs objects; The IR-camera will lock on to a tree as easy as on a tank when you use trees as static objects. As for populating Turkey, that's a work in progress...

LockOn has a Low, Medium and High scenery that can be selected in the options-graphics menu. Depending on this selection the low.scn, medium.scn or high.scn file is loaded, located in the bazar\terrain\scenes folder They can be edited with a util that I'm not at liberty to distribute at this moment.

Hi Weta43, I think you missed a post or two. I'm working in a new scenery file that includes the extra trees. That means that after replacing the high.scn file the trees will always be there and messing with object files is no longer necessary. All the original object will be intact and all the objects in the mission editor can be used. A second advantage is that the trees are no longer seen as objects so they won't sink in the ground when bombed. They will also blend in with the rest of the scenery better since the graphics settings (visibilty etc) apply to both the original- and added trees. Still working on a Beta version that I hope to post soon. Hang in there...
-
the scenery is one file so I can't release it in parts. I'll see if I can make a Beta version that his some additions embedded.
-
Just a little update. After Kerch, Belbek, Sochi and Sukhumi, Maykop and Anapa are also done. Here some shots from Anapa. Note the transparancy of the trees that are further away. Again, this is the LOW scenery; only the added trees and structures are displayed
-
Very nice! Are these replacement CMD files and are the graphics as big as the original ones?
-
@luke97: Kerch, Belbek, Sochi and Sukhumi are done. Bare with me mate, it's time consuming. Here's a screeny from Sochi and Sukhumi. Both were taken with the LOW scenery @skflanker: That's because I added a block-on-road in the scenery file and not via the editor.
-
Judging by the host' name, it's slovakian. Greetz, Birdy
-
@ Luke97: not possible. So far only Kerch is done and that took me days. @Yellonet: objects are visible in the editor, trees aren't. @Yellonet: the pics below show the 12'o clock view in the A10 on finals both with and without trees added. With added trees the FPS drops about 3 (10%). Offcourse, when huge forrests are in view, the FPS can drop more but that all appends on your PC and settings. I had detail and visiblity set to high.
-
Here are some shots of the reworked Kerch AFB and surounding area. You can see by the way the trees become transparant that these are not static objects but actual scenery graphics. Note that during this test-phase, I'm using the LOW scenery file. So only the added trees are visible.
-
Hi there Luke97, I was going to break the news to you guys later but since you brought up the subject; YES, you can have trees ALWAYS. Thanks to Swingkid and Alfa who showed me the way, I'm working on the "scenes" files and am happy to announce that things are going well. Since I'm now no longer limited to only a few tree-files, I'm currently reworking the trees around the airbases. I will post a demo as soon as some work is done. I hope you can still wait a few days. PS: keep trying checksix.fr since it's never down that long.
