  1. yeah and it totally rules!
  2. yeah i know what you mean. the immersion of a real simulated battle that goes on even without you and every mission you fly successfully acts as a small gear in a huge war drive train... is a promising thought. There are really good and constructive posts in the dynamic campaign threat. you'll find some info why ED hasn't integrated it yet. Myself, I'm still just learning how to fly the hog successfully so i haven't started the campaign or flying online. A really good scripted campaign can be just as immersive, just think about OFP (okay this is infantry but still...). I really can't say what the campaign feels like. If it was a dynamic one like in falcon or F22, i might have even started playing it without really being able to fly, and would spend less time in the cockpit ;-) so maybe it's not so bad there isn't one... ;-) sure, i started with this one http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62365 and adjusted a few small things. Suggest you do the same. i just bought an TIR (should have done so years ago but being a student couldnt afford it). it's a good investion. hm honestly i think the ka-50 looks much cooler than the ah64, i like the coaxial roter principle. Maybe someday i buy myself pedals and try to fly black shark. i think just the fact it's russian shouldn't keep anyone from flying it, that just sounds prejudiced ;-) totally agree that the A-10 was the best choice. Everyone loves it, me included, i don't even really know why. i really wouldn't suggest SLI. not worth the extra money, power consumption, heat, noise and driver hassle. you're better off investing $150 to $200 in a good single GPU card and buy another $150 card in 2 years. gives more value and performance in the long run. DON't buy a second GTS 250, that would be a waste of money. better sell it on ebay you can't pause in MP. there's no reason to do, in MP you should know how to control the game and aircraft serious sims always have the best communitys. speaking from a lot of experience :-)
  3. or they have a toilet installed like the Su-34 just hope co- or autopilot avoids neg G while using it
  4. chuck norris wouldnt need an A-10 to conduct a CAS mission. he wouldnt need anything but a knive
  5. Hey there, welcome to this wonderful game. Same here, I've started a bit later with A-10 tank killer, flight unlimited, red baron, and many more sims. Played falcon 4 AF for a couple years and still love it. I just wasn't interested in flying a helicopter, although i enjoyed the apache and hind sims from like 1996. and they were very well playable with just mouse and keyboard. umm i couldn't play without the active pause (shift, win + pause). Pausing is for wimps or learning pilots! personally i liked to use the ministick (mouse) on the x52 for viewing around. there are x52 profiles on the forums that use it like that. if you like to use the sticks coolie hat better, just do it. Personally i prefer to keep it as close to the original as possible, like most hardcore sim players do for obvious reasons ;-) same here! i would love a dynamic campaign like in falcon 4. I used to play wars with it without actually flying myself for days. there's a discussion threat about dynamic campaigns in the sim reasearch subforum. feel free to join the discussion a couple SLI cards? depending on which graphics u got right now i wouldnt invest so much money in a SLI setup. get urself a gtx 560 for $220 and save the rest for #1 a track ir and #2 the hotas warthog and #3 for another graphics card if u really think u need it. the x52 works well, but it just doesnt feel as fancy as a high quality stick, sure. Have fun
  6. i ordered that book on amazon a week ago, can't wait for it to arrive
  7. or maybe the M102 105 mm howitzer from the AC130 gunship...
  8. F-16, so i finally don't need to play Falcon 4 anymore... (love that jet)
  9. Ingame help about key commands would be nice, something like this (from silent hunter 5): Would look a bit more cluttered with DCS ;-) But we're all used to that, aren't we (if not, press the DECLUTTER OSB button)
  10. Replacing the GAU8/A with a regular 20mm Vulcan should give it enough space... :music_whistling: ED did implement it, it's called RCVR ;-)
  11. ...they should have included a 16:9 super wide HUD along with the FCS/ECM upgrades when converting the A-10As to Cs ... not to speak about a bubble canopy and more powerful engines, and ummm a radar (i hear opposition coming haha)
  12. So by those charts the Eagle should be able to pull more G's than is possible in FC2 and this isn't just a "the eagle is the best aircraft in the world and should rule more in FC2"-thread? BTW, you're right, a simulation of course depends on such charts. But there are infinite possible interactions and no manufacturer has charts for any possible defect or effect. It's up to the sim-makers to decide how far to go and simulate the mechanics and how to simplify these cause-effect-chains. It seems as if ED does a good job with that, so I would be really surprised to hear that the F15 really is considerably "underpowered" in the sim compared to real life specs.
  13. Or maybe the simulation is just so good that it's perfectly normal for my McLaren just to reach 120mph because I damaged my exhaust driving over a curb 2 laps ago without realizing. Just because I don't understand the dynamics of the aircraft doesn't mean I shouldn't be critical of the views of those who think they do it better. Maybe he just likes to fly CAT III in dogfights, who knows? Man we could go on like this forever, until a real F-15 pilot joins and tells us if the real Eagle can pull more than those 4 G's in such a specific situation.
  14. ...when you download 15 GB Terminator Salvation Director's Cut in 1080p just to watch the A-10 scene and delete it afterwards
  15. Not competiton-wise but I've been on my university's racing team doing drive train engineering and enjoyed driving both an Formula Student car and an Audi A3 race car. IRL you just get a feeling for the car after driving a couple rounds and that enables you to concentrate fully on the race track and your brake points. By then you don't even realize anymore how you control the car, you just do. That doesn't happen driving those racing game sims, even with a fanatec wheel (which i really love, don't misunderstand me) and a lot of setup it still doesn't come close. I have no idea how this compares to flying an aircraft though. I was just mentioning the possibility that it could. http://www.motorsport.rwth-aachen.de/wp-content/gallery/vln/dsc_4076.jpg http://www.ecurie-aix.rwth-aachen.de/cms/images/stories/fahrzeuge/eac06/eac06_1.jpg i don't fly or care about the F-15. I referred to the old "simulation vs reality" discussion that's on any simulation forum, no matter if it's flying or racing or... fishing
  16. Three of us, no TIR and like the effect
  17. made it myself in photoshop, nearly done... ...just missing a Warthog in the sky ;-)
  18. ...you've read everything about DCS A-10C here, go over to simHQ, read everything there, google for other DCS A-10C forums, start posting over at the BS and FC forums although u dont play those games and get on their nerves ...you consider buying a Hotas Warthog although you have a X52 pro that works perfectly with A-10C ...you join the DCS A-10C facebook group and read every post there ...you read the beta4 manual the second time and can't wait for the beta 5 manual to search for changes ...you try and have parallel installations of beta 1, 2, 3 and 4 because you feel nostalgic about each version so far ...you search IMDB by keywords "warthog", "thunderbolt, "jet fighter", "CAS", and many more ...you browse the US Air Force recruitment offices' web sites to see how you'd become an A-10 pilot if you were still young and didn't have your boring office job and family ...you know how to reset and/or re-init the CIDU, CADC and HARS in the CDU and even needed to do so while in a mission ...you don't understand how anyone doesn't know what the SYS/LRUTEST page is really good for ...you're playing selfmade 6h transfer missions with travel pods and external tanks mounted ...you wish you could make jokes in this thread about YOUR wife wanting sex and you rather playing A-10C, while you play A-10C and your wife doesnt want sex okay enough for know, have to check youtube if there's a new A-10C video online while i was writing this...
  19. sorry, will never again remark anything you've read before in your forum. are you a bears fan?
  20. popcorn! are you guys real fighter pilots or what makes you rant about the flight model realism? I've never flown a fighter jet in reality and unless you did, you better start blaming yourself for unsufficient gaming skills rather than start another discussion on realism deficits. ;-) I just trust ED to deliver a decent simulation and try to handle it as good as possible. I dont trust HAWX to do that because everyone says so, not because I knew it any better... Maybe the real deal is much easier... Playing GTR2 and Live for Speed i found driving a car to be extremely difficult, while i know in real life its much easier... Those real fighter pilots would probably need the most popcorn if they read threats like this hehe
  21. exactly what I was looking for. Used those "kneeboard" checklists a lot for falcon 4 AF. thanks for posting
