Seriously? did the pilots have to pay for their ordnance by then and chose rather not to use missiles anymore? ;-) And surely less than a 2000 pounder wouldn't have been enough taking out that hind.

Those of you Using TrackIR and Headphones
mic1184 replied to Lonecrow66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
nice idea. like in madden on the xbox, if you have a headset coaches instruction come from it, rest from the speakers. very immersive +1 for the idea -
i wouldn't pay for another theater unless it looked really different from the current map. we got mountains, cities, fields, rivers, valleys, coastlines, sea, islands. what else would you like? desert? jungle?
-
it was more of a spontaneous practice i guess. and who would use set the master/gun switch to training in a sim?! like running windows apps in wine in a virtual machine running linux in windows (for the same reason i wonder why ED spend time on modeling training ordnance rather than on a DC...) :music_whistling:

Funny quote from a book about A-10 in Gulf War
mic1184 replied to mavyalex's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
i think i posted this earlier today... -
was the first thing i thought when reading the interview and with beta 5 unreleased. don't think so tho
-
even worse are the GAU-8 slowdowns for me
-
thats what I tried, it's impossible. had to jettison ordnance to have a chance with the gun in A2A. and that's against a circling target that ignores me... BTW: with empty stations (except AIM9s and ecm and litening pod) the hog handles damn pretty nice.
-
well this interview was confirmed authentic so I would call it quite an official announcement... doesn't mean i think they should rush it EDIT: wow nate, now i really feel an urge to push such a fancy glossy red button, wow! damn, that was the emergency jettison. before takeoff. again. *sigh*

as i get the most fun and scores in active pause  i'm afraid i can't play it online... j/k

** Strategies on how to look for targets with the TGP??**
mic1184 replied to JEFX's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
i would really like to have this hog lantirn pod (it's from the book "warthog" by william l. smallwood) -
sounds realistic, or you could go like, "chiiiief, fuel up, rearm and replace that missing left wing, still lots of arty out there" with engines running, eating a snickers...
-
I just successfully practiced to use the GAU-8 for Air-Air (on my wingman I orderd to circle :music_whistling:) and what does this brilliant accomplishment bring about as a special treat after returning to base?! "You've commited fratricide! You lost all of your combat scores!" AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!

What's already been said, needs to be said again..
mic1184 replied to Kenan's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
funny development, tho -
where can I watch this series? sounds interesting... btw, anyone knows some good documentaries about the A-10 specifically?

signed. from me, a special thanks for choosing the A-10C. it rocks -
Easiest method for target finding (for practicing only, of course) is to hit L Shift + F10 to switch on labels. that way you can set your TGP to them and switch em off again. couldn't've done without it when i started use the mission editor anyways so you can define your payload manually.

I would like better ground textures, flying low as you do with the hog I am always amazed how bad they look. the nevada screenshots looked promising...
-
i hope he is. i love the A-10. i'd even buy DCS:A-10A if they made a kosovo map for it ;-)
-
maybe a tanker sim? with switchable pilot/boom op position. that would be something new ;-) hope it's gonna be the F-16C, so i don't have to study new avionics again. also would be happy with F/A-18 with carrier ops. hope it won't be the F-15, it's got no spirit imho.

Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread
mic1184 replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That pretty much sums up the discussion for me. Realism is just a feature that complements the joy of a game and hence its entertainment value for me personally. If it doesn't add to the fun, I don't want realism in a game. That's why we don't have to do the paperwork before and after the missions. Of course the military isn't interested in a DC with a flight sim, as the aforementioned dynamic campaign is primarily an entertainment aspect. As has been stated before by others, the joy of this game degrades while getting better in operating the aircraft. For now I put DCS a-10 aside and started playing BoB II. The DC looks very convincing so far. While I don't enjoy flying WW2 aircraft, the promising DC boosts my motivation enormously to try it out. Hope a motivation boost will come back for DCS cuz the A-10 is the coolest aircraft ever! -
it's obvious DCS isn't much of a game and apart from in-cockpit, there's nothing fun to see or do. but ED is working hard to improve the between-mission-immersion - i hope.

if you find the drug that does it in real life, tell me

yeah or you could use HAWX 2 for the ferry flights :music_whistling: (i know i'm getting myself kicked from here)
