  2. Has anybody playing DCS combat flight sim experienced seizures while playing the sim or awhile afterwards not playing at the time? I have searched the DCS forums, I have not encountered anybody reporting same. I have been encountering some kind of seizure since October 2014 awhile after playing the sim. Does not occur while playing. I have been off game all week to try to isolate what's going on. I will be not playing the sim for awhile. I am age 64. Never had this problem before. Been playing DCS since the Warthog came out of its beta. I am seeing a neurologist. Thanks for any and all replies.
  3. Solution, Message 2: ============= http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1613160 I use Crunch's solution for the Su-25T but my Saturation setting is not as slow as his, moving the targeting cursor around. But the Ka-50 for World in Options/Controls under ALL has its own Shkval settings which is what I use for the Shark. I am learning the Su-25T currently and thus the update for my Firefox Bookmarks' reference.
  4. Found this awhile ago... Keyboard List: ========= DCS_World : A-10C (or other aircraft identity) Options\Controls Lower right-hand corner of the Controls' listing Click on the "MAKE HTML" tab Click on the "Keyboard.html" file It can be printed out as hard-copy. (I know I posted this info somewhere, previously, awhile ago. Do not remember if I posted the info to this thread.)
  5. Hi, My signature lists my current Alienware build I purchased about a year ago. I am considering a single GTX 590 card preferably a Nvidia GeForce one. Is this a good marriage with my current build? Dell wants $1,000 for one card that I think is a bit overpriced. Within the limitations of my machine, is there a better choice? I do not want to spend much more than $500 but I would consider more of an investment to extend the life of my machine and to keep in pace with using DCS World in the future and the probability of demanding a better machine as World evolves. With my current GT 545 cards in SLI, running DCS World or VNAO in FC2 or Superbug in FSX, my primary issue is stutter hesitation which I think is due to my 1 GB video ram limitation. Is there a utility I could use to input my hardware build variables that would recommend appropriate video card choices? Thanks for any help.
  6. In DCS World's A-10C giving a positive curve of about 20 using the Curvature's sliding scale in Axis Tune, within Axis Commands for the Rudder, gives a very less sensitive nosewheel steering taking off and final phase landing under 50 knots, as an example. I use the CH Products Pro Pedals, using a CH Hangar profile, using the CH Control Manager.
  7. Make the Warthog a convertible. Pop the canopy. Or forget to close it on takeoff... LOL!
  8. I am patiently waiting for the Huey. Can we put armament on it like 'Nam? I remember seeing helicopter trainees, 'Nam era, they were tethered to the ground and all day long were practicing basic moves off the ground, into the air, hover, land. Kind of like the Navy Seabees electrical linemen trainees in 1974 Port Hueneme A-school, 1st thing every morning up and down telephone poles in long sets and hour or two at a time using cleats and the belt, building stamina and confidence trusting the belt. Long time ago I played the Microsoft Gunship sim. The Ka-50 in this sim is much more difficult to fly.
  9. Landed real good on the FARP I took off from returning from an online sortie, wee hours this morning. I used the autopilot in all 4 modes and hover, but not Flight Director. From cruise RTB, I came into hover, zero movement, then easy does it forward to the pad while also using the collective's AP Descent Mode. I landed dead center on the pad in a 4 knot wind from 309 degrees. I rearmed, refueled, repaired battle damage and took off again for another round. I am not much fond of my TrackIR5, so I use the number keypad for views. What I find that works very well is RCtrl+RShift+Numpad 8 which raises my head up over the nose of the Ka-50 and zoom in with the RCtrl+RShift+Numpad * . I have not tried, yet, using LAlt+F1 . I wonder if that view would help? Some of the servers allow external views, but I don't use them for landing as it is a crutch, as some servers only allow F1 out the inside cockpit view and might allow F10 and F11. Numpad #5 is the neutral recenter out the cockpit. I bought a better Logitech keyboard, the G510, with 54 programmable G-keys, just for DCS World that I set some of my views with. I am getting better at landing, still a work in progress... I know a guy that is an A&P aircraft mechanic and a long time private pilot that recently built a bi-plane for himself. He treated himself once to helicopter lessons with a trainer by his side. I asked him about using the trimmer. He said the training helicopter he flew did not have one and all the moves he did were very light touch on the controls, not ham-fisted rough moves. I will experiment with various ways of landing and hope I can some day perfect coming in hot to a pad like the helicopter in the USA TV series M.A.S.H. Thanks for the tips.
  10. Hi Tyger, I joined your group's web page under my alter-ego online username, yesterday. I looked around for tips. I flew your current mission in Multiplayer wee hours my time, was the only one on. I killed a bunch of stuff last night and landed better and got on the FARP at least, but not the one I took off of. Wee hours this morning, kept getting shot down by SAMs, but managed to kill a power station, following the power lines to their source. Seems like SAMs were PO'd and harder from me killing them night before. 4th sortie out I creeped up on waypoint 6, between 5 and 6, at tree level, within 8K of the SAM batteries and killed 'em, depleted my Vikhrs. RTB to the FARP pad I took off of and landed pretty good on the pad, dead center. Would be nice if the Ka-50 had clear plexiglass at the pedals to look down through. I got into hover over my friendly helicopter base at about 100 feet or meters. I used some of the tips guys left here to this thread. I jockeyed around fine tuning the Trimmer to zero drift with 4 knot breeze from 309 degrees. In AP Altitude Hold and Auto Hover I eased it down using AP Descent Mode to 5 feet, then disengaged Altitude Hold and using the collective, eased it gently down. That is my best FARP landing to date. Rearmed and Refueled. I really enjoy your current mission in Multiplayer. Nobody to talk to, but I was on your TeamSpeak channel, Black Shark section. I don't cheat and I play by the rules. My lingo chatter needs work... Ping yesterday was 113, this morning it was 133. Thanks to all for the landing tips.
  11. I don't play A-10C DCS Warthog, update 1.1.1.1, in Multiplayer very often, anymore. I wanted to check out if any servers were up, so I took a look. My login was missing and it looks like somebody has tried to get into it by eliminating my username and permanently installing theirs as a 24 character alpha-numeric string. I erased theirs and entered mine and logged in OK. What is going on? Did somebody somehow crack into the multiplayer sign-in? After logging out and not saving my log-in information, upon re-logging in, their username string is still there. My worry is a keylogger may be hiding there. How did they crack into it?
  12. I have successfully copied FC2 basic install, then modded a copy of it for the Stallturn server and separately for the FC2 Extra Flyable Aircraft mod. I used this procedure listed here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95216 Is copying the DCS_World the same procedure? I want a copy of the un-modded DCS_World installation as my back-up, and a separate modded copy for the 104th Phoenix. Will the two separate copies co-exist? Do I need to stash the 104th's copy in a separate directory? Will they both update automatically? Thanks in advance.
  13. I have been learning the Ka-50 both BS1 and BS2 for about 8 months. I am self taught, but I read the flight manual---still (lots to learn), read forums here and read SimHQ, watch the YouTube videos, did the training videos in BS1 and the training videos by BigFoot. I fly in full sim mode in BS1 in FC2 and BS2 in DCS_World. I do not use the Central Position Trimmer Mode. My controllers are CH Products. My profile is Crunch's latest from CH Hangar. I flew a sortie in Multiplayer in DCS_World, on the <51>SERVER (US), last night---great ping rates. I cold started the Ka-50 just to stay in practice, took off, hovered it, in Auto-Pilot Route Mode went off to waypoint 2. Was instructed to proceed to waypoint 4, so I bypassed waypoint 3 using the PVI-800 and proceeded in AP in Direct Heading. Before getting to Waypoint 4 I was instructed to fly a cross-country heading, so I engaged the Flight Director, got there, hovered on station and killed the ground vehicle targets. I was low on gas, so RTB. Then flew the long trip back to the FARP. Then proceeded to crash and ejected. I think the best way to learn landing is with a guy that knows how in Multiplayer using low ping rates. I am in NY, Zulu minus 5. I have landed 2 good runway landings and one FARP in 8 months! It has been a long, slow learning curve but I am slowly getting there. Thanks for any help with critiques, links, or hands-on instruction.

  15. I also just purchased FC3 and was flying touch 'n goes in the F-15 in DCS World last night. Same problem with the TDC (target designator cursor) in using the radar. In F-15 it does not function. In BS2 for World they put in a workaround under ALL that functions good enough. After trying most of today to figure out what the heck you were trying to tell me, I finally figured it out. Your Device 2 is my Device 1 and I never realized how the CH Products Pro Throttle's mini-stick designated the Mouse for both axis in the CH Control Manager. Now they are designated joystick. Thanks a million for the work around. Crunch you are a life saver. It doesn't really matter, I still die a lot. LOL!
  16. Page 242 of the FC3 Flight Manual has the approach and touchdown speeds for various FC3 aircraft. I just purchased FC3 just to answer your question and out of curiosity. Around that page should answer your other questions. I happened to see the landing speeds browsing through the manual. Start\All Programs\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Documentation\Flaming Cliffs 3 Manual You will need a (.pdf) reader. I know how to land it in FC2, FC3 may be different. All the time I can give you for now. Take care.
  17. Yeah, me too, I'm not getting rid of my FC2 and BS1. Some guys with servers most likely will stay with FC2. Some of the Chinese servers in FC2 are a lot of fun other than my high ping rate. I also understand Crunch's point of view and I have missed the 104th in FC2 and I think it is great they host the 104th for FC3 even if it is the beta. I can live with it. I just wanted to give a heads up to those concerned if they did not know the issue. But they do seem aware of it.
  18. They can be shot farther out, not in automatic, using Kentucky windage. Takes a bit of playing around to set the target box high and farther out and actually hit and kill the target. In World the Abrams tank is a pretty easy kill, at least easy as to the Multiplayer mission that was set up. And half the time, still, I have problems getting into hover...
  19. I was on earlier in Ka-50 red side. I heard some guys on TS3 say they crashed, yet I did not. Mostly everybody was flying FC3. Maybe it is server related.
  20. I did not carry over anything. I still have my DCS A-10C, DCS BS2, FC2 BS1, and FC2 and my original LockOn. Everything still works. In my C:\Users\username\Saved Games I only deleted my previous DCS beta. I kept my DCS Black Shark 2 and DCS Warthog. I do not have the FC3 module, yet. But I am still keeping FC2 if it is at all possible. I have DCS World and the Warthog, P-51d, and BS2 for it. I created different directories and I do not use Program Files for gaming. I take advice, but I don't always do what I am told if I question procedures. I experiment cautiously.
  21. I have never used Steam.
  22. (In Multiplayer on the 104th Phoenix server) My issue was a frozen screen, 4 different occurrences. It was not just me and it was not limited to just the Black Shark. The other 2 guys I was with, also in the Ka-50, were not affected. There were a lot of guys on 2 nights ago 30 or 40 players. It was not a ping rate issue for me as my ping rate was about 40. My bonded DSL runs at 12 mbps download/about 1 mbps upload. I was not the only one with a frozen screen. Don't know what the common denominator is causing this. I had 2 other guys with me finding targets, us using the Ka-50. We were all using TS3 so we were in constant, unaffected communication. One player said whenever a P-51D was around him firing .50 caliber guns would cause freezes. ??? It wreaked havoc with me. I had to completely shut down and restart. I will defrag it again. Then try logging on with less guys on. My Multiplayer load time into the 104th's server is longer than DCS BS2 or FC2 BS1 used to be. I just timed it from clicking the Connect button to Master and clicking the 104th's server (but had already been loaded up previously) = 30 seconds, second time around. First load up time was approximately 3 minutes. World must be a larger program and 64-bit thus longer load-up times?
  23. Hi, I noticed you stated FC3. I don't have it, yet. The betas for me are too much playing around, stuff doesn't work or doesn't work properly, the gurus are still experimenting and the guys that have it are the test bed think tank to work out the problems. So, I referred to FC2 instead. The scuttlebutt before the beta release of FC3 was in DCS World, FC3 was going to be FC2 basically with some improvements like an improved F-15 but World friendly so to have fighter jets in an air combat environment to play with and interact with the DCS platform. I'm still learning FC2. I have not used any video training. The way I learn, I just dive in, make mistakes, then read up what I am doing wrong and fly with others and pickup tidbits as I slowly pick it up. I started with FC2 January 2011 but I did not go very deep into it. I needed a controller profile for my CH Products gear. I Google searched for "CH Products profile+DCS" . The user here Konkussion was top of the list. He was most helpful and he had a profile for the new final release of A-10C. I spent most of last year with the DCS Warthog. And most of this year with DCS Black Shark both 1 and 2. I got into the Naval Aviation sim by user Moa and his Stallturn server about 3 months ago. His server is based on FC2. His F-14 is the F-15 FC2 cockpit and the F-18 is the Mig-29 FC2 cockpit for ground attack but both with a tail-hook and the USA carrier Carl Vinson. Now I had to sit down and learn the FC2 aircraft. A few guys hang out to his server to learn from. But I mostly go solo and jump in with both feet. All the DCS/FC2 aircraft have an online .pdf Flight Manual for each plane. Except for the search capability of the online manual, I prefer a book. The books are dated and some things change relative to the newer online manuals which will update my/your learning journey. Sorry to have mislead you, but I think learning FC2 suffices well enough. But I am not a purist. You want to learn the Mig-29, look-up user BlackCat on the FC2 Multiplayer, find the Stallturn server and fly the F-18. He tends to be on about 4AM/5AM Eastern Time Zone when the Stallturn server usually resets and there will be lots of aerial targets to shoot at... but the AI jets shoot back as well as the real people do! He is back on 6PM to midnight most days. He is Pacific Time Zone. What is fun is flying the Russian side Mig-29K with hook. I prefer the Russian jets for various reasons. Stallturn server is 24/7 so pitch black night ops are fun and it is also Black Shark friendly. Don't know if Moa will convert his server to FC3 friendly. I purchased the FC1/FC2 LockOn Platinum boxed set at Best Buy about 2 years ago for $20. And then I updated it to version 1.2.1 You will need to make a virgin backup copy, then add the Stallturn Mod copy to access the New Zealand based server. http://www.stallturn.com/wiki/ http://www.virtualnavairops.com/ It is a lot of work going this route. You might better find help to FC3 and find a squad to fly with and learn from. These guys are good: http://www.104thphoenix.com/ My big problem is my memory at age 61. Last year I had the Warthog down. Right now, I hop into it, I forget how to cold start it on the ramp by memory without using a checklist. I need to fly what I know frequently. DCS is the only game I play because of my memory issues. More than you wanted to know, for sure...
