  1. (re: Message #3) My issue is with A-10C and will be with BS2 and P-51D as they are pre-purchases. I was thinking of doing same; now I will. Thanks.
  2. Message #3 workaround for FC3: ===================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97302&highlight=1.2.2.7204+installer same thread (FC3) referenced to: ====================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97194 Don't know if this will work for me, but looks like it will.
  3. I keep my downloaded .bin and .exe files of a particular update in a designated folder in My Documents as backup since a download for me is usually about 5 or 6 hours. I install the .exe file from that same folder and it always works to install it. I have the Upgrade version Black Shark of BS1, BS2, and now World all sitting in their respective folders in My Documents as backup.
  4. I play different aircraft be it FC2 or DCS. I find just getting to a parking space to a designated airfield that does repair, I shut down both engines (if two) and open the canopy suffices. In FC2 and the Stallturn server there is no countdown window but in about 5 minutes or less, a repair will occur. Then refuel or rearm. I find the repair can occur damaged on the runway or the boat. But refuelling or rearming I need to be on the tarmac at a parking space. I have seen guys just pull off the runway or the end of the runway to refuel or rearm. I have not played DCS much in awhile. DCS is rather unforgiving if you are in the grass after a repair.
  5. I upgraded World yesterday, then took the 1.2.2.7204 update that popped up. I restarted my PC. I did a defrag. I restarted my PC. Everything worked as it should but I only had the Su-25T, 32-bit freebie; I know this is all I get with the World update. I did not know not to take the World Update before installing my previous purchases. (Isn't learning new things, fun? LOL!) The A-10C, Ka-50 and P-51D all are version 1.2.2.7122 . When I ran the .exe Update for the Warthog, the pop-up notice stated, "Can't install A-10C 1.2.2.7122 into newer DCS World 1.2.2.7204 . Please, download A-10C 1.2.2.7204 installer." So I guess I wait until they update my purchased modules and I will learn more of the Su-25T. Is the 1.2.2.7204 installer an item that I can use in this situation? If so, where is it found? I guess uninstall my current DCS World, restart, then reinstall DCS World version 1.2.2.7122 and do not update World until my 3 purchased updated modules are loaded up. That would make sense. Is this the correct procedure to follow? Looks like it, see Message #3 here: =============== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1602474#post1602474 (later edit): Took 10 minutes to uninstall and reinstall DCS World. I did not take the Update, left it at 1.2.2.7122. I updated my Warthog. Ran in Multiplayer and I entered my serial number for the Warthog. Even without the Update I can play A-10C in Multiplayer. So, I will load up BS2 and P-51D. Then update World. I am not interested in the other 2 betas until they become final release. I did notice the Multiplayer listing for the Su-25T was not the same listing for A-10C and I bet ditto with the Black Shark and P-51D, but that may be just coincidence.
  6. I purchased DCS: A-10C on February 24, 2011. My current DCS version is 1.1.1.1 . To use DCS: A-10C in DCS World do I need to purchase an additional license, or is the upgrade for World just an upgrade patch of what I have previously purchased last year? I know I played the beta in DCS World for the A-10C, but I only see the one purchase. My current record shows my only purchase of the A-10C is now version 1.22 for DCS World. Thanks
  7. I see DCS World now upgrades itself like Aces High has been doing for quite awhile ( http://www.hitechcreations.com ) . Now, implement the big map war to a central server. That would be great. I would pay $15 per month to access a central server.
  8. I updated my Message #2 here. Moa did it, the guy that made the EFA mess of aircraft did it and there is an ADA French mod that uses French aircraft carrier jets. There is a small fraternity of simulated virtual naval aviators that enjoy the various navies' jets at sea. I would say it can probably be done, more likely by a modder, as an add-on embellishment, than by the DCS World staff gurus.
  9. I was doing a search looking for "tailhook" and this post came up, top of the list... According to the username Moa, in the LockOn > General Discussion forum, there is a post with scripting examples concerning LockOn; I do not know if these scripting examples also apply to DCS or DCS World. I am pretty sure any aircraft can be modded with a hook. His Stallturn Mod and his server are testament to that via the F-14 and F-18 in FC2. See Message #9 and #16: =============================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80400 I think, though the Su-25T is a DCS World freebie, I think it is basically FC2 (I may be wrong). I know it uses only 4 threads, 2 cores and does not use my SLI in DCS World. Other links: search for "tailhook" (without the quotation marks) here: ============================================ http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=89 Here is one example: ============== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=73546&highlight=tailhook Backup your folder before experimenting and rename the copy to a different directory in case you mess up.
  10. It seems like DCS develops the aircraft that are not current Active Duty models, but Air National Guard second hand-me-down models or retired, probably due to the Classified stuff. So, I rather doubt the Super Hornet is being developed. Is the F-16 the current USA Air Force front line interceptor? I hope I am wrong. Come on, 90% of the guys to DCS will buy anything they offer because it is the best flight sim currently out there.
  11. When my engine is dead is usually battle damage---LOL! And then the 2nd engine goes... Those little guys with Stinger missiles are hard to see, let alone find them. Eject -Eject - Eject !!! Thanks for the info.
  12. (re: Message #5) Why would I deliberately stop the start-up procedure? I do know in full sim mode, cold start, in BS1 and BS2 if I rush the start-up sequence, and out of sequence, I get failures, bug or no bug. I saw no mention of a bug in post #1 that I referred to. I did not even know there is a bug within my versions of Black Shark. If I start up correctly as to Bigfoot's directions, I am fine, even for a full gas tank mission and RTB.
  13. Yes. Go up in altitude in the mountains where the snowpack is. I get warnings from either the EKRAN or the overhead warning lights to turn on the deicing switches. I only got this warning once in about a year flying the Black Shark, might be a voice warning. It rarely happens to me. Somewhere in the ABRIS pages will tell you the outside air temperature. I am pretty sure each pre-programmed waypoint designates the air temperature. Best to read your mission orders before start-up. There are switches overhead where the dust choice switch is located, and left of that. The right-side wall panel deicing switch does not function in my versions of BS1 or BS2. I got the warning once. I immediately turned the switches on, I was fine.
  14. I do not have the DCS World Black Shark, yet. I fly BS1 quite a bit in FC2 and online to the Stallturn server in not Gaming mode. I almost always cold start it online as a few servers require it. If I screw it up, for me, it is just easier to log out and start over. Yes, you can play around with restarting it. The engines need to be completely run down. I am not sure if you are required to reverse the startup checklist before restarting it. I rarely have this problem anymore, only when I have been away from playing Black Shark awhile, I forget the process. Ka-50 really needs a daily sortie. I cannot rush the start-up sequence as Bigfoot has a very good tutorial as to the cold-start up process. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612 and here (not by Bigfoot): http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/video/bs2-training/ Some of the right side wall panel's switches can be set in advance and I do not go exactly as to Bigfoot's process. I turn the bottom rotating beacon on before I start the engines. Start the APU 1st. As soon as it starts, unlock the rotor brake downwards. Not doing this will create a no-start situation. Each engine has to spool up to max startup speed before engaging the 2nd engine. And ditto the second engine, If not, the EKRAN will show a hydraulic failure that will occur eventually later in flight. So, while I am in hover on a target, just like that, down I go. As soon as I turn off the APU, I turn on the 2 electric generators on the right side wall panel. Then continue the process as Bigfoot instructs. I usually do not turn on any other external lights, except when RTB and landing it. I fly quite a bit at night. That is my experience. Your mileage may vary...
  15. I have the DCS (upgrade version) for BS1 (1.2.0) for FC2 and BS2 (1.1.1.1) for DCS. I wish to keep this separate from DCS World. BS1 is modded to the 104th Phoenix that also functions well to the Stallturn server running FC2. Sadly I did not at the time backup my original BS1 installation, as I did not know how, but I don't care. I now know to install the original installation as a backup before modding it, though I will ask later the modded process to World such as the 159th and 104th probably will require. For DCS World I want to purchase separately the DCS: Black Shark 2 1.2.2 (English download version) not the Upgrade version. Will this work to keep both entities separate? I think it will be. I am asking for reassurance. Where do I find the link to purchase the non-upgrade version module for DCS World's Black Shark? Thanks.
  16. The majority of the wish list poll want the Super Hornet. I bet 90% of the guys would buy anything offered.
  17. Put a tailhook on it and give us the Carl Vinson. LOL!
  18. A link would be fine, I am sure this probably has been discussed recently. I have DCS World version 1.2.0.3205 I also have the pre-purchase betas of the P-51D and the A-10C. What do I do, download each, then uninstall World, then add the new .exe files for World, and separately for each, the P-51 and A-10C modules? Will the modules find their way into the DCS World program by running their each .exe files? I think I am correct doing this process. And do I save out the Saved Games controllers setups for my CH Products? I am now age 61 and I forget stuff day to day. I feel more comfortable asking and reiterating ad nauseum. Sorry. I want to purchase the Ka-50 next for World. Thanks for any help.
  19. It is a bit funny all you guys replying. B-chin' before release because you just can't wait to have it. Finally get it. Then, b-chin' because something isn't quite right with the product. LOL!
  20. The guy in the F-16 out of Italy, shot down in Bosnia, on Larry King, said he saw the missile coming but was not allowed to eject until after he he was hit. Well, if that feature exists in game, other than looking at the F10 or F6 view, I have not noticed a missile coming at me be it SAM or A2A in FC2. I am getting a bit better at avoiding them. I really do not think it is fair, the AI know where I am and where I am going to be as to the programming algorithms rapidly doing the math on a high end server. It is quite a trick outsmarting a PC. I guess dead is dead when I get hit and cannot eject. I have made parts for ejection seats and I know that ejection seats work totally independent on its own. The quality control standards were second to none. We supplied parts for Bendix who sub-contracted to the USA Air Force. We never saw the whole assembly, we just built parts of it. I think part of that was because of the security involved and partly due to giving qualified jobbing shops the work. From accounts I have read about ejections, just because you got out does not mean you do not get damaged on the way out or on the way down due to mishaps. I creamed my back at age 40. At about that time in a guy's life the cushioning between discs in a guy's back starts to deteriorate due to aging. I wonder how many pilots suffer back and neck injury just due to the fact of the abrupt, high-G rocket takeoff? How many military pilots are still flying at age 40 or more? At an air show to Point Mugu Naval Air Station in 1974 I saw a F-4 come in off the water inland over the spectators and fast but not supersonic, he was so low, he could have caught fish.
  21. I think the Russian guys should give us a discount on buying the Rosetta Stone learning Russian tutorial. The full pack set is $500 to Best Buy for Spanish.
  22. Or go buy the VRS Superbug if you want realism. It runs in FSX. There is real and then there is simulated real. And no way is the various PC setups going to be like flying the real thing.
  23. It looks to me FC2 had its day, and few hang out here for discussion/troubleshooting. The attention span of the more intelligent people seem to always be moving forward doing the next technological improvement. Last year it was DCS Warthog. This year it is DCS World and soon to be FC3. About 10 posts in the last 100 days as to "Bugs and Problems" issues is a bit lean.
  24. I think it is because of all the triggers used and AI guys in Moa's Kodori Gorge 5 Multiplayer mission that causes the issues. I ask to various forums hoping a quick fix. I usually, eventually, figure it out and then post back as to the fix I found for my setup. I 1st did the Internet with WebTV. Microsoft bought WebTV out, then sat on it as it was competition Microsoft did not want, much like how the Detroit car manufacturers bought up good ideas, then never developed them. WebTV's basic design was manufactured by a few different people, Sony which was one. If users had a problem, we found a good fix within the forums community. For the Sony brand, that did not mean necessarily a similar fix with the other brands. Similarly a good fix with my particular PC setup might not work for the next guy's. And then how about the custom builds? Sometimes all I need is a simple idea to follow through on that I did not realize, not necessarily by a guru or IT guy. Since 2004, My 1st Dell, my custom built, and now my Alienware I have always figured problems out using the various forums and helpful people, be it the gurus or just users like me. I started online Internet gaming late, in 2007. I have found almost everybody that is a gamer is the less than 1% of the PC users that get into the programing code or take their machines apart to see how they tick. I have never, as of yet, taken my PC to a repair shop to settle hardware or software issues. I guess I am just a cheap SOB! I usually will copy, then edit my little escapades to other forums. Just typing stuff out is like what I used to do in school. I would take notes as the instructor would talk, not necessarily to study as homework. Just writing it out does something with the brain process and it seems to stick better and if I sleep on it I come up with ideas. Dreaming: that has happened when doing product development in machine shop where we did not have prints but were expected to be the think tank for the engineers. I ramble. I think it is my feminine nature to write and ramble. I'm not gay but it is a known fact that the differences between males and females are just a little bit of a DNA twist and remnants of each exist in all of us more or less. Thanks for help with past issues.
