  1. I just downloaded the new 1.2.0 World Update. I have the pre-purchase of the P-51D and Warthog and both are updated. CA will be my next purchase; I like GV'ing (ground vehicles). I only fly full realism. The P-51 took me all day taming that sucker, but I got her down. Fun as heck one-on-one with the AI guy. I actually got that sucker, blew his right wing clean off in one head on pass. I have the CH Products trilogy. I cleared all the control pre-sets, and set up the controls to my 1st P-51 beta CH profile map, but I modified it. The clincher for me, unlike FSX where loading the .map screws FSX up, I loaded the CH Control Manager's P-51D profile .map I created and now she rides great, landing, takeoffs, and dogfighting offline. Pre-takeoff trim on an unloaded P-51 I set all trim at 3: right aileron, right rudder, up elevator. Go fly Aces High's P-51D and piece of cake. Now to find a server that allows dogfighting. Even in DCS World 1.2.0, still, P-51 dogfighting is rare to find. That AI opponent is fun in single player. I shotup in the air, my own single player A-10C for something to shoot at. Fratricide and lost all my points---LOL! Do not teamkill in Multiplayer. Last year I had A-10C down. I have not flown her in months and sadly I have forgotten some of it already. A-10C is a good challenge to learn. Too bad it does not have a tailhook. I know, it can be carrier landed. Black Shark for World, I will buy the full install. I am not touching my BS1 and BS2 Upgrade version---it resides in a different directory. FC2 is still fairly active. FC3 I am going to wait until I hear more feedback. I have Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit on an Alienware Aurora R3 in a RAID0 setup at 3.9 GHz. And that is now too slow.
  2. I finally got a medal for mission complete doing 5 consecutive traps flying the Superbug in FSX in full realism. Does that count? LOL!
  3. I will give it a go. Thank you.
  4. Thanks for the info. I have the 1st P-51D beta and thusly is how I initially got DCS World. I also have the World's 1st Warthog Beta. Warthog 1st beta was not quite right compared to my DCS: Warthog 1.1.1.1 , so I did not use it much. The P-51D I used the 1st beta and flew it pretty well; it was hot for awhile but nobody was dogfighting, rare. I see the Tuskagee guys updated and they fly dogfighting sorties, now, from what I have read to forums. as to (1): I realize this and why I just downloaded the DCS World 1.2.0 English 3 .bin modules and their .exe for it. But it is not installed, yet. I do not want to destroy my current setup of DCS: Warthog 2011 final release and updates to 1.1.1.1 ; or my current Black Shark setup of BS1 for FC2 and BS2 for DCS before DCS World came along. I do want to update my 2 pre-purchases of P-51D and Warthog and get the Update version for World for the Black Shark. Also want to buy FC3 for World and Combined Arms. I have all the installation packages, each, and their updated patches, saved in their own folders in "My Documents" so they are not lost or will be. My current installations of DCS: Warthog and Black Shark is what I do not want to lose. I am not sure of the process of how to load all this mess and do not wish to lose what I have that does work currently. 1st betas in World do not work in multiplayer, anyway, no loss there. MY DCS World setup currently is in my 64-bit "Program Files" (which I realize needs a separate directory, not Program Files). My current DCS World is: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\ (then the individual modules in their own folder titles of A-10C; Ka-50; P-51; World, etc. I do not have Black Shark for World, yet. If I leave my current Black Shark Update series up, will this interfere with Black Shark in DCS World? : C:\GAMES\Ka-50 Black Shark\(then BS1 and BS2 in their respective folders) This works just fine. My DCS Warthog: C:\GAMES\DCS A-10C\(then all its folders below it) This also works just fine. Since I know the year 2011 version of DCS Warthog works and within the year 2012 World my A-10C beta works relatively well, I think I can assume (hate that word) I can leave my DCS Warthog setup as is and probably leave my BS1 and BS2 setup as is and just add to the World setup as necessary C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\etc . I realize I am a bit too thick on this and don't want to screw up the new installations in World.
  5. I still get a kick watching the Su-33 land itself in autopilot on the Russian CVN.
  6. EtherealN, If I add the BS upgrade for World, to my already existing BS1/BS2 upgrades installation since BS1 version 1.00, will I still be able to fly BS1 in FC2? Why? FC2 has more open servers, not locked. My Black Shark is in an independent Directory titled: GAMES, sub-directory titled Ka-50 Black Shark. The bulk of the sub-directory is for BS1, while BS2 has its own Folder and sub-folders. It works. BS1 runs in FC2. BS2 runs in DCS, pre-World. Do I simply add BS2 for World within my Ka-50 Black Shark sub-directory? I do not want to mess up my setup so nothing works, which is probably being too pessimistic.
  7. I have the BS1 and BS2 upgrades but not for World, yet as I am not clear about the installation. I wanna' keep BS1 for FC2, hopefully FC3 will support BS1. BS2 is definitely better than BS1. Biggest complaint by me, almost all the servers except FC2 are locked servers. The 2 best servers that were up and public are now down: Phoenix 104th and Stallturn. Is World also going to be a not open server? I miss the days of Air Warrior, Warbirds and Aces High of an open server, always on, always a fight, 24/7, and many people playing all at once. I have heard the flight sim community and PC gaming as a whole has bean weaning off for years opting for XBox and such instead.
  8. I was flying the Su-33 in FC2 multiplayer last night. I am not up much on the key commands so I refer to a spreadsheet download I found in forums that I printed out. It lists all the keyboard commands for all the FC2 planes. The only aircraft listed that uses NVG using FLIR/LLTV is the Su-25T. I don't fly it, so I do not know with actual experience using it. World includes the Su-25T beta. Maybe they retained this feature in FC3? What I read awhile ago, FC3 was to be FC2 for use in World. I guess they improved it some? Seems to me some guys spend all day on the forums and are up to date on everything. I usually come by only to read and ask or state something stupid in search of an answer to an issue I am having, then read a little bit on the newer posts.
  9. I got a gut feeling, though I have not read or heard anything, yet, that the VNAO's Stallturn server and the Phoenix server will be modifying their setups to include FC3, so I will have no choice to purchase it sooner than I wanted to. Both servers have not been up for a few days so I am guessing they are reworking them. If in fact this is not a beta, but final release, then what the heck, I'll get it in a few days most likely. My DSL broadband speed is a bit slow. The DCS multiplayer in the lower ping rates below 250 have me running pretty good compared to other servers I have tried. My limited multiplayer experience lately with the FSX servers have not been very good. So I will be sticking with DCS online and hope World is going to be great. I just purchased a Logitech G510 keyboard with 54 programmable G-keys to offset the necessity to set additional buttons instead of multiple keystroke commands. The older Microprose sims included cardboard keyboard cutout overlays which I will be trying some ideas to make.
  10. (re: Post #7) I just purchased the Superbug from this source, about a month ago: http://www.vrsimulations.com/FA18EFSX.htm I think the total download was 20 minutes on my bonded DSL. I paid less than $50. I got interested in the Stallturn server in FC2 and learned about the FSX crew flying these things to the VNAO website. This will be a steep learning curve, but traps and cats are pretty easy and fun and the cockpit is worded in English. There are online communities for this Superbug, though the enthusiasm seems to have weaned itself off. Everybody is probably playing Arma2. I also added the Acceleration Pack's F-18 mods like the ILS crosshairs and a clearer windscreen HUD I have found to the various forums around and the T-45 Goshawk, AICarriers2 and the Arrestor Cables mod. Now these 2 jets are basically very similar to the FC2 planes of not much of a hands-on cockpit and they are fun, too. The only money expenditure was the Superbug. Though I will be sending these developers some cash for their effort. The Superbug can simulate electronic combat by setting the FSX cowl flaps to mimic the triggers, but the Tacpac which I do not have will be coming out ready to purchase in two weeks or so.... I have not flown FSX in 3 years and it was not on my current gaming PC. I have the frame rates set at 30fps and the sliders are custom, but mostly maxed out. I get a kick chasing the airliners at 35,000 feet and flying their wing until they land somewhere. No need for a KC-135, LOL! I wonder if FSX has any operating AI F-18's flying about? There is a "Rio Airports and Navaids" (free add-on download) for FSX that adds AI military aircraft to fly with, various models of jets, in the Rio de Janero area. The add-on mode is found here: http://www.fsxcarrierops.com/ See the "Session Addons" dropdown under Required. The only problem is conflict with some of the not AIcarriers2 CVN's don't meld with also using VNAO. The airports and gunnery range work. AIcarriers2 works. I tried flying with a bunch of Italian guys on their FSX multiplayer, all in war jets, but I was not invited, so it did not last long. I guess it is about time to try flying with Pop and see if I can pass his entry tests. I was way back in the Catskill Mountains on top of their highest peak, mid-week, back there solo, when 2, F-4 Phantoms came in to dogfight each other, electronically. These guys were really pushing the edge. This was in 1971 and I had a great airshow. The lead pilot saluted back when I waved at them on their way back to Stewart Air Force base at about my eye level between the two peaks. If DCS ever gets a Hornet or SuperHornet I will buy it, too. Thanks for the Modman lesson. I am still trying to get the FC2 for VNAO working.
  11. Yep!
  12. I have BS 2, 1.1.1.1, not the World beta. I started with BS1 and still use it in FC2. I always start-up in muti-player or single player from cold, ramp start either on the tarmac or FARP just because some of the servers I use only allow start-up that way. So why get spoiled? I never fly in the Game mode. My experience rushing the start-up process always causes a failure somewhere, later in the mission flight, usually a hydraulic failure. I watch my EKRAN before lift off, it tells me if I will be OK, unless random failures are set to on. I let the engines warm up. The whole process takes 5 minutes. Stability in flight? I rarely use Flight Director. The 3-amigos are on, and I only use the Altitude Hold to hold altitude when I want to. I usually navigate to the waypoint area using the collective's route mode if I have a preset mission, which is smooth as glass, except watch out for the hills. I don't think the Ka-50 has terrain following radar as an autopilot option. If I need to get to the deck fast, of course on goes the FD. As to the betas, as I have said previously, I will wait for final release because as you have found, stuff is not quite up to snuff and it will change for better or worse until then. It just seems a waste of time, except for the players being the testbed input through forums for the developers. This is much like the way the pharmaceutical companies in the USA do business, except DCS is not killing off the consumers in the process. I am quite interested in the new Combined Arms and World concept. I have the 1st beta P-51D and the Warthog beta for it. I am hoping this will be a 24/7 constant battle with not locked servers attitude much like Warbirds, WWII Online, and Aces High have done it with maybe rotating missions or maps once a campaign is won. I do not learn new things quickly and for me, learning is a lot of repetition and trial and error and mistakes. I never expect things to go easy or fast, especially without others actually helping me, as how the real USA Navy structures their learning processes which I did do 40 years ago in my job rating. I have yet to see a good, structured, gaming learning process. Pretty good training sources for Black Shark: ============================ http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/video/bs2-training/ http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612 and this book in the E-shop: ================== DCS: Black Shark Flight Manual (extended) The manual is 536 pages, and is steel coil bound. Printed in black and white with color covers. (Mine is dated 2009.) I found my copy through an online book store. I wonder if a high ping rate causes issues in multiplayer as well as if a relatively slower broadband download speed may do? I guess, compare playability issues offline as to online use. My controllers are all 3 CH Products. I use Crunch's Black Shark controllers' profile, which is aces. By far of all gaming aircraft I have flown since 1985, the Ka-50 is a tough go. I find I need to fly it once daily.
  13. That has not been my experience flying FC2 / DCS almost 2 years. I will wait and see. (BTW, thank you very much with your much appreciated help over the past two years of questions asked by me.)
  14. (re: 1st post) I will definitely, eventually get FC3, if only to play VNAO on the Stallturn server, but not until final release. Most likely I will wait for Best Buy to have a boxed edition. It is too much effort installing the betas, uninstalling, reinstalling, learn certain aspects of the 1st betas, then they get changed, embellished or omitted in later betas. I can wait. I recently purchased the F/A-18E Superbug for FSX and have re-explored the mods to the Acceleration Pack's F-18 the past month. If the next DCS product is the F-18 and a land-able carrier with cable traps and working catapult, my priorities will change drastically.
  15. The VNAO Stallturn server for FC2, one of the unlocked missions is up all day, sometimes for several days. I was taking my BS 1.0.2 to fly it in the Stallturn server without adding the carrier mod check'um. This mission will go into night time just because the mission clock is 24 hours and the server is up 24 hours, thus night time fly-ability and quite fun via the NVG. Though for me I usually am the only helicopter flying. I guess still no solution if FC2 or FC3 has no NVG capability. Now with FC3 I suppose this will change the server setup and I am not interested in FC2 or FC3 but prefer DCS.
  16. I bought the Superbug. The online download was a snap compared to the various DCS installations I have done. And I embellished my old FSX with the VNAO/VCVW-8 recommended installs. There is a free KC-135 tanker download for FSX. http://www.carrierpilot.com/ See the Public Download drop-down, among other goodies. My nephew gave me the Acceleration Expanded Pack for a Christmas gift 3 years ago, so that comes in handy. The T-45 is fun, landing on the various AiCarriers2 ships, and riding the lift below decks. LOL! I am still learning the Superbug so the TacPack I will wait for final release. I setup the cowl flaps workaround for simulated "computer combat" for my gun trigger and weapons drop Fighterstick buttons. The DCS' forums are a great resource for info and the members within. I have never much liked Flight Simulator but my attitude has changed, lately. Thanks.
  17. Some corny Midi jazz music, but it is pretty good stuff. http://www.thejazzpage.de/index1.html
  18. Though I am no kid, Falcon 4 predates my Internet warbirds fix. And I got into too late for the IL2 based game. Want complication? I just purchased the F/A-18E Superbug for FSX to satisfy my need for an aircraft carrier based jet of DCS's high standard of a study sim. Though from my just 3 days getting acquainted, I still prefer DCS, I'm just tired of waiting for the next new DCS plane. Not sure I can fly it on the Stallturn server, but FSX's multiplayer may suffice. If the P-51D is going to operate in the same combat theater as the SAMS and jets, then at least give us chaff, flares and electronic warfare jammers to at least survive these modern era missions OR give us the 'Nam era prop plane that the Warthog replaced. The only way I can survive the Sams (maybe) is to fly tree level or below to get below their radar. Of course an organized air ops would eliminate the sams on the 1st wave in and give the P-51D a mission it is more suited for. Do you guys ever do a full out assault the way an invasion is supposed to be thought out? The 1st Iraq war is a beautiful example of utilizing an armada of aircraft to do severe damage. Maybe so, they will just do the P-51D, at least for now, that is what was said at the time. DCS just do not go bankrupt pursuing to much, too fast. Out northwest coast USA co-ops are big. Everybody puts cash into a pot for product development then give out dividends as you get richer. REI started out that way and still give out dividends based on how much a person buys. Then DCS always has adequate cash flow. How much you selling stock shares? Cheers guys.
  19. For me, all 3 statements are correct, as is typical with most polls. I have the P-51D but I am not fartin' around with uninstalling / reinstalling each beta as the next revision comes out. I already paid for it. I will wait until the final release comes out. I'm doing Black Shark as my main ride; and the Stallturn server's jet aircraft for FS2 and also I just purchased the Superbug for FSX. Black Shark works just fine on the Stallturn server without any need for additional patches---I HAVE carrier ops already through FC2. They need either a FW-190 or an Me-109 to fight against the P-51D. Nobody wants to dogfight WWII, except the 1st week it came out, so I am doing something else. The P-51D here is great, but in the MMORPG Aces High, the engine has more torque.
  20. It would be pretty cool for a program to translate the spoken language using whatever utility would be used. To take broken English, or even a non-English spoken language to be translated and let the computer do your talking as digital spoken language as is done in other venues as some telephone answering machines and company automated answering systems or how Windows 7 does it for the blind people. I have worked in machine shops here in New York and New Jersey where guys were from other countries and I have learned to get basically what a person was trying to convey to me in English. The guys from the old Communist Poland and Yugoslavia were the worst to understand, for me. The Guild system is still alive in some European countries and not here in the USA, so the US gets a lot of skilled guys from Europe. Believe me, anybody speaks English better than me trying to speak your/their language.
  21. I have the purchased upgrade BS2 version 1.1.1.1 for DCS; patched from the initial BS1 installation version 1.00, then to version 1.0.1, then to version 1.0.2 for FC2. I can fly BS2 in DCS and BS1 in FC2. Has the BS2 upgrade for this version been released yet for DCS World? Will this new BS2 World upgrade interfere with my previous BS2/BS1 installation? Will I still be able to fly the Ka-50 in DCS or FC2? If I were to purchase the current BS2 version 1.1.2.0 for DCS World installed concurrently, but a separate installation, with my present "upgraded" BS2/BS1 versions for DCS and FC2, would this cause conflicts between the two? I have P-51D (1.1.2.1) and the World version A-10C, (1.1.2.1) . Thanks for any insights.
  22. Messages Posts #2 and 3: Rapid clicking the trimmer button and the FSX Heli School reference. I did not know about the FSX helicopters' training. Is there a 2012 FSX update? Must be the scenery update. Or this: http://www.robbonline.se/ http://www.google.com/search?q=fsx+heli+school&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a All I fly for the last couple months is mostly BS2 in DCS and BS1 in FC2. I do stray a little bit with the P-51D and Su-25T. I think Black Shark 1 and 2 are much harder to fly than the FSX helicopters I have tried. I like the idea of trying to learn hovering and flying about like flying a RC helicopter. Same should be doable in Black Shark clicking F2, offline in Single Player. Thanks for the advice, actually the entire thread.
  23. I setup a one button push, macro, on my Logitech G-15 keyboard. But it is faster to just punch and hold the "Ctrl" (Left Control) key + E, E, E (3_times quickly). Even in real life, ejection is not an absolute guarantee of survival.
  24. Yep! Or longer. It is worth dealing direct and waiting.
  25. Ditto. I use S77th-Konkussion's CH Control Manager Profile for the A-10C. I Google'd Search'ed info when I 1st came to DCS and he was top of the list. He was very helpful. This was my 1st LockOn/DCS aircraft and my 1st CH Control Manager attempt. For BS 1 & 2 I use the same CH Control Manager, using Crunch's Profile found to CH Hanger forums. For LockOn FC2 I use a different Crunch's CH profile for that also, that works for every aircraft. For the P-51D, I made my own. For the WWII sim Aces High, I made my own. All my controllers are CH gear and the keyboard: Fighterstick USB, Pro Pedals USB, Pro Throttle USB. There is friendly support to the DCS forums and CH Hanger. Believe me, if I can do it, anybody can! Granted, it was a huge learning curve, a lot of work and a lot of time. The problem using somebody else's profile is getting inside their head and figuring out what button does what and why. Crunch and Konkussion are way beyond me in setting up their profiles, programming from scratch. Do not use a powered hub. Plug your CH USB plugs into the back of the machine. There is a specific way of setting up the CH Control Manager with Windows that will definitely mess you up if not done properly. Download off the CH Products website the latest version of their Control Manager. Top of thread, Message Post #1, last paragraph, you said, ===================================== "I forgot to mention a couple other things. CH has software called "CH Control Manager" that allows you to create profiles that can combine all the separate controllers into one DirectX controller. I'm not using it as DCS recognizes separate controllers." I set up mine as 3 distinct, separate controllers. It is just knowing how. That dam, sob, Control Manager is easily two or three, 3 credit hour college courses. Konkussion taught me the basics! Man, don't give up! PM me, I have a mess of notes in my filing cabinet.
