Here you go as to my specs. Yes, I only notice the stutter issue to his server. It is just annoying flying close in formation flying to the target area and getting this hesitation. Its a wonder with 1 to 2 second hiccups I don't run into the ground. I have 6 sticks of Corsair DDR3 2GB modules TR3X6G1600C9 in 9-9-9-24, 1600 MHZ for Core i7 CPUs left over from a previous build. NewEgg sent me twice more than what I ordered for some reason of my previous homebuilt PC. I wonder if I could run my RAM faster. I think inside the case it uses 4 - 2GB slots. Alienware is ridiculous with their add-on mod prices saying I need propriety stuff. I don't think so. I modded my old Dell with parts from Best Buy, Staples and NewEgg no problem. There is a guru to the VNAO FSX forum that says the RAM mods have to be just so or it could run slower: http://www.virtualnavairops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2686 I don't think my RAM is the issue causing stutters. Just an old guy ramblin' on...

In the VNAO Stallturn server for FC2 I get major stutters and 1 to 2 second freezes, but no crashes. I tried some BIOS setting changes within this link: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68060 Still have the problem. While I was setting up TacView I saw a page Optimizing FC2 concerning compressing my Stallturn Mod directory and then defragging my PC again. In Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit a Windows defrag takes usually ten passes. After compressing that folder it took 49 passes to defrag it to 0%. The site is French, you will need a translator to interpret the page (unless you can read French). http://lomac.strasoftware.com/ Still have the problem. My ping rate to New Zealand in Multiplayer is 250 to about 300. My frame rates are set at 60 but I get higher than that over 100. I have a virgin copy of FC2 modded with the Stallturn mod and added TacView. But the problem existed before adding the TacView. Any ideas? I turn down most of the unneeded graphic embellishments in FC2. I will setup a signature later as to my current Alienware rig. Thanks for any help or insights. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My setup: ====== Alienware Aurora R3 purchased December 21, 2011: i7-2600 @ 3.40 that throttles up to 3.9 as needed using Turbo Boost; 2 Nvidia GeForce GT 545 graphics cards in SLI GDDR5; 2 - 500 GB Hybrid SATA-II hard drives in a RAID0 setup 7200 rpm; 8 gigs dual channel DDR3 at 1333MHzRAM; Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit; 3-D, 23 inch wide monitor by Alienware; integrated 7.1 channel sound is all I use; liquid cooling; PSU is 850 watts. It never pulls more than 2 amps using a clamp ammeter to test it. The fans usually are at idle and very quiet. I want to get a single GeForce GTX 580 card but they are still $500 at NewEgg.

(Re: Message #1) I just downloaded it the other day. Works great. I will most likely purchase the "Home" edition if it is a one time purchase and not annually, like my Norton does. That is some pretty good programming there. Only improvement I'd like to see is a difference in the delta aircraft and individual differences in aircraft shapes even in very simple terms like Air Warrior used to do.

Guys coming into the Stallturn server in Multiplayer keep asking this, as to the message title, this thread. BS1 for FC2 I had the 104th Phoenix's mod to access their server on a virgin copy of BS1. I did not add the Stallturn server mod. It allowed me to fly in Moa's Stallturn VNAO, no problem. I flew in there for 2 months before playing with the jets. Maybe pass this info along if anybody asks you guys.

Tacview: How to Make Multiple Installations in FC2?
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I saw that for Flaming Cliffs, here: http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-fc-en.php but I did not know how to copy the files he was referring to. From your post instructions, I brought up two separate windows of Windows Explorer. One window for my Tacview installation to my Stallturn Mod and one window for my virgin FC2 copy. I copied/pasted each of three files out of the Stallturn Mod, one by one, at my C:/Games FC2/Eagle Dynamics/LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2 - Stallturn_Mod/Config/Export/ Config.lua Export.lua TacviewExportDCS.lua to my corresponding FC2 installation in the other window and pasted over the existing 3 files. Then I took my virgin FC2 game online to an active dogfighting server in Multiplayer to see if Tacview would record it. Then ran Tacview and I saw the file for it. I ran it and SOB, it works great! Thank you very much. -
This subject is not a how-to as an instructional tutorial, but how is it done? I recently installed Tacview version 1.2 and Tacview is new to me. I found where the check-mark-able FC2 selection is hiding, "Record [Lock-On: Flaming Cliffs 2.0] Flights" Reference: http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-fc-en.php Default would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Config\Export\TacViewExportDCS.lua The latter "TacViewExportDCS.lua" is what TacView installs for the check box. I have several versions of FC2: the virgin backup, its copy, the Stallturn VNAO mod and the efA mod, and soon the ADA French jets mod. But I only see one FC2 checkbox within the TacView dropdown Globe, second selection from the left hand side, of the TacView latest free version 1.2 desktop icon selection. I dragged the "TacViewExportDCS.lua" from my FC2 Stallturn Mod to my virgin FC2 directory as I would like to know what's going on with the 159th and <51> servers as they do not have out of cockpit look-around F-key cheats; but that did not work. I am talking about a post action review, not in-game. Initially I setup the FC2 checkbox for the Stallturn Mod. Uninstalling Tacview and dumping anything Tacview labeled to my Recycle bin, (I did not attempt messing with the Registry concerning Tacview, yet), when I reinstall Tacview 1.2 it installs itself in 64-bit, and somewhere in my C: drive is hiding the Stallturn setup for FC2 and it reinstalls itself right back into the Stalltun Mod. (My English teacher would reprimand me for such a long sentence!) I have not figured out how to get Tacview in my other virgin FC2 or the other modded multiple installations. Maybe a manual installation of the 3 files into my virgin FC2 installation will succeed. I am asking here to the FC2 forum, has anybody done this? And if so, how? I will also contact the guy that created Tacview or hopefully find a dedicated forum to ask questions. Still experimenting with it.

The FC2 GUI Manual is a bit much for me. It is not intuitive for me. The way I learn is a bit bass-ackwards. I have to see the whole picture, then rearrange it in my head so I see it my way. For me it is like taking a big box jig-saw puzzle, dumping the box on the floor, then reassembling the pieces into patterns. I need a mission model how-to, step by step from scratch. I have Moa's Stallturn Server Mod set up on a virgin copy of FC2 version 1.2.1 . Using that, and using the FC2 Mission Editor, in Simulation mode, I created a Single Player mission (.miz) "rough draft" started with an unarmed F-14D, fully fueled, engines running, sitting on the Carl Vinson's catapault ready to launch, heading North 0 degrees, into a GRND wind 10 m/s, 180 degrees; the CVN is moving at 56 km/h or 30 knots, though the bottom bar ouput says SPD:27 . The keyboard #1 Nav key will move to landing ILS back to the carrier on the HUD. But hitting the keyboard #1 key back to Nav freezes the screen, except if I do a repeat RCVR the keyboard #1 key functions fine. Once landing on a trap cable to full stop, it then wants to takeoff again at full throttle where I landed it. Little things like this drive me nuts trying to figure out what went wrong. True, great way to learn, but extremely difficult and very time consuming. Running CVN trap ops at night, do the deck landing lights at the trap cables need to be setup as an input value to turn them on or do the lights automatically come on? I also fly CVN ops in the Su-33 using the sloped deck Russian carrier. (Edit Nov. 15, 2012): The Russian CVN has landing lights on its deck like an airfield. The Carl Vinson within the Stallturn server has outer edge of the boat running lights. As I approach the Carl Vinson at night and my landing lights on, set to taxi, about the last 100 feet or so, the fantail and traps will light up some. In pea soup conditions I don't see any deck lights until I am on the deck. Long range plans I would like to do something with the efA Mod of multiple aircraft up on a small server and missions using that. But for now, I want to build a mission or two for myself using the VNAO Stallturn Mod by Moa. Thanks for any help.

There is a two pilot switchable cockpit for the T-45 Goshawk jet trainer to be used in FSX. It can be flown front seat or back seat. I got interested in Moa's Stallturn server for FC2 and the FC2/FSX VNAO community a few months ago. I have dabbled a little bit on both sides of the fence and currently browsing the FC2 archives for answers to questions I have and finding these older posts. I have the need and desire to create missions to fly the efA multple flyable plane set and I do not know how to fly a plane using the editor. The GUI Manual is a tough go for me but I am finding good info in the archives.

(re: top of thread, Message #1) Your question concerns FC2. My answer concerns FSX and VNAO's add-on downloads for it: http://www.carrierpilot.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=61 The Arrestor Cables add-on is fun to use with the Hornet and the Goshawk on a land based runway. Actually the US Navy "pilot cadets" (?) practice cable traps on runway landings before going out on a ship to qualify using the T-45 Goshawk. There is a scripting variable within the FSX code to adjust how heavy the jet hits the cables on the carrier as in the Acceleration Pack's Hornet model after catching a cable the aircraft is not modeled correctly and dances hard after a trap. In real life the cables are set with weights below deck to allow for each aircraft's unique approach weight. There is a better way to say this in writing and I am not saying it properly. I found this script change in my browsing travels. FSX's programming code is not the same as what LockOn uses, but I would think the concept is the same. I would think it would be possible. The link above attests for what 3rd party contributors have contributed on their own time and for free. I also put one of those "AiCarriers2" carriers on a FSX runway just for the fun of it, but it was 50 feet above the runway. The Arrestor Cables add-on is inches above the runway.

Flyable F-16 FC2 Mod on a China Server
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ok, I have it working in its own directory and it will load ok to the Stallturn server of the available aircraft listed in a mission. But the F-14 is somewhat transparent as to an outside view. Like the 104th Phoenix mod, that also will load ok to the Stallturn server. I will try to find servers that use this mod. I know one server out of China uses it, but it is not always up. I do not remember its name. I need to learn how to fly the various aircraft and create missions in the FC2 mission editor at least in Single Player. There must be a better how-to tutorial than the GUI Manual for dummies like me. Thanks for the link Moa. -
I use Crunch's CH Products profile .map for FC2: http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?7149-Lockon-Flaming-Cliffs-2!-PT-FS-PP I started out with LockOn, with the mess of planes using the LockOn Platinum 2 disk boxed set for Flaming Cliffs 2, then patched it to 1.21, February 2011. But then DCS: Warthog came out; so I did that most all of last year. Spring 2012 I learned the DCS: Black Shark both BS1 and BS2 (still a work in progress). Then, about 3 months ago I discovered the VNAO Stallturn server and setup MOA's Mod for FC2. His mod works fine. But his Tomcat uses the F-15 cockpit and his F/A 18 uses the Mig-29 cockpit, in FC2, neither of which I know how to use, except doing traps in the F-14 on the CVN-70 Carl Vinson and shooting some enemy planes down. Using Crunch's FC2 profile and setting up the Options > Controls > Axis Commands, I setup the F-15 in FC2, works just fine. But the Mig-29 and Mig-29S did not work fine as far as the throttle's fine moves in conjunction with my Pro Throttle USB. I cleared out the CH Products trilogy presets I found under Aircrafts for each plane---that didn't work. I looked in Users\Saved Games---I did not see anything related to FC2. I searched the forums here to no avail. So, I was stuck. I eventually figured it out. It was a very simple fix and I am back in business. All I did was Clear out the Thrust setting in Axis Commands and set Thrust to the Default setting and good to go. Since this topic appears unique here to the LockOn forums, I am dropping this note. Search "stuck" brought up related ideas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do not install FC2 in Program Files (x86). Doing so causes all kinds of weird happenings. I found this to be true with the Pro Throttle's Mini-Stick mouse cursor function. Create a different directory folder from C:/ As to why, see here, Message #4: http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?8536-Mini-Stick-Pro-Throttle-USB-%28bug-%29-Cursor-Does-Not-Stay-Still

I did not know about this. I never use that button, well not intentionally. I am getting a little bit better at dogfighting, but not by much. One particular server I was using the other day, I noticed this message occurring quite frequently in FC2, on that server. It was setup in-cockpit only, no F-key look-arounds. I am not very good at avoiding the good players and I assumed that was it, just me, not being very good. But I never saw the attacking aircraft. I think he was being led to me by others' radar signatures and his was off. But, it could be the "c" word I suppose. I thought you guys were above this sort of thing. Well, if they can do it Soap Box Car Derby and they did, and they quit it for awhile because of the caught cheaters, though rather ingenious means to an end, in that case, some of the ideas employed. I am still trying to figure out how to do evasive maneuvers to avoid the missiles. Youtube sure has some ingenious guys doing very well, what looked to be a rolling scissors maneuver of a really big SAM and then he just got behind it.

Flyable F-16 FC2 Mod on a China Server
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hi Emmer, Yeah! I made a user copy of the primary backup download installation, step by step as you suggested. When I got to Modman I hit a brick wall. Then I realized I did not need to use Modman to just copy the FC2 installation:doh: -
I got Moa's Stallturn server up and running just fine. It took a lot of rework effort. It is interesting, some wishlist in a DCS poll, the Super Hornet is top of the list almost 2 to 1 of any other aircraft wanted by most people that replied to the poll. What do they give us? A Huey! Go figure.

Flyable F-16 FC2 Mod on a China Server
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That is a pretty cool mod---thank you. Now to figure it out! I think this just might be what I am looking for. Guess I will get another FC2 copy and see if I can use my PC as server. I have your Stallturn server mod. I did yours wrong initially and uninstalled it and reworked it until I got it running correctly on your server. I love your server setup. My only gripe is, somebody or AI cruise missles keep killing the BlueFor CV in the Kordi Gorge 5 mission. I love that mission. Maybe reset it after 24 hours? And yours is Black Shark, 104th Phoenix mod friendly. I did not get what "Blue For" and "Red For" meant as to the mission brief. I watched on TV, couple nights ago, "The Dirty Dozen", had not seen it in years. Their graduation exercise in simulated combat was, "Blue Force" versus "Red Force". I got it! (I only tinker at the programming, similar to editing CNC programs for CNC lathes and mills. Editing is necessary on the job. I did my own setups, ran the jobs. I never learned programming from scratch. Editing the NC machine shop 1970's era was a lot harder and that was punch tape almost identical to stock market ticker tape machines utilizing a single photoelectric eye. It actually was the same ticker tape code used. Fun times when it would see a dust particle and think it was code. The early CNC lathes had a punch tape as a backup until industry created big enough memory chips. In between was cassette tape. I remember a wire EDM machine we used in the die shop I worked, mid-1980's, to run and store coded moves. Then the terrible day my boss realized he lost most of his programmed cassette tapes by storing them near a magnetic source he forgot was there and all that had to be redone. LOL! At least it wasn't my fault---I hate being chewed out  ) Maybe you guys will get me interested in serious modding, yet. Take care Moa. -
Flyable F-16 FC2 Mod on a China Server
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thank you. I just found out about the ADA V2 mod. But I have not done the mod, yet. Google will probably find it for me or I will try and find the user maomao's e-mail address and ask him/her. I did a search for that username to the English speaking forums with no-such-user-exists. A lot of times, the Google search engine is better than LockOn/DCS but it still will bring me back to these forums. It just takes time digging for it. It is much easier to initially just ask. -
Flyable F-16 FC2 Mod on a China Server
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have Moa's Stallturn Mod for FC2 increasing the inventory of the F-14 with the F15 cockpit and the F-18 with the Mig 29 cockpit. Still fun, though especially landing them on his aircraft carriers. I also have FSX, so I went to VNAO's FSX side of their forum and purchased the Superbug and added all the mods they recommended for them. I am aware of the 3rd party FSX add-ons and the Orbiter sim and their mods. Within all the sim communities are guys that spend most of their free time building and modding, but most all the guys to this forum must know this. Do the guys here that mod also access the other sims' modders to pick brains? The programming language may not be the same but I bet some of the techniques are. I have always felt the SubLogic flight sim that I think pre-dated Microsoft's Flight Simulator and maybe the Microprose sims were backward engineered just to see how the techniques are done, then instead of stealing the language create a new one---but I am just guessing. The guy that created the Aces High WWII combat flight sim, worked for I think it was Warbirds, took the idea, expanded on it, went to the bank for a loan and created his own without violating copyright law. And, yet, he frowns on any code modification and considers it cheating. Go figure. I saw the other flight models via maomao's server and said to myself, I gotta' get these. -
The server I saw the flyable F-16 as a selectable choice was on username: "maomao" 's server. He also had other modded aircraft as the French Mirage and a big Russian jet with one of the FC2 fighter cockpits as the controlling cockpit. Where do I find these modded installations? Specifically, where do I find the flyable F-16 mod for FC2? Thanks for any help or website to go fetch it.

I have the LockOn Platinum boxed set. LOMAC is required only once on one machine, is what I was told by two separate moderators/testers here. I have Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit on an Alienware machine not even a year old, yet. I have it on two separate Win 7 machines, two separate Win 7, 64 bit installations, each about $100 operating system, not illegal copies. My other machine makes it easier to access the doc pages, me not being online with it, while playing with the other online. LOMAC installs in an Ubisoft sub-directory, while FC2 is under a separate sub-directory titled, Eagle Dynamics. LOMAC installs first. I even played with it before installing FC2. I plan on keeping both FC2 and FC3 if that works out OK. Moa said his Stallturn server for VNAO will most likely stay FC2. But the Stallturn server is usually lean to non-existent if looking for guys to fly with or against. I just get a kick landing on his aircraft carriers.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I have the LockOn 2 disk boxed set for FC2 that includes LOMAC by Ubi. Do I need to purchase a separate additional copy of LOMAC for FC3 or can I use the LOMAC install for FC2? (Yeah, they usually close the thread once I post something on a long thread and I never get an answer.)
-
I uninstalled my original FC2 and reinstalled it. I have a pure LockOn Platinum boxed set for the basic installation of FC2 installed to a unique directory that is not C:\Program Files (x86). I then updated to the latest and current version for FC2. I then added the VNAO mod using the recommended Modman utility for the aircraft carrier community to be used only on the Stallturn server in Multiplayer. I now can only play FC2 on the Stallturn server. This works fine currently. I was told, by I think it was Moa, to save out the virgin installation of FC2, not modified, in a separate directory to play on the the general use servers in Multiplayer. And to create another separate directory for the 104th Phoenix mod to play on their server. I have tried, but not succeeded in doing this. Is this possible to do in Windows 7, 64 bit? And if so, how? (I do have the 104th Phoenix mod for Black Shark 1 that allows me to use the helicopter on the 104th's server as well as the same 104th mod functions quite fine also on the Stallturn server. But this installation is specific only for BS1.) I figure, if not possible to setup multiple FC2 directories, to keep my FC2 mod for the VNAO's Stallturn server. Then with the soon to be released FC3, use that for general server use or mod it for the 104th Phoenix. (Edit October 8, 2012) : Currently researching this topic: "Multiple installations of LockOn FC2" ============================================ https://www.google.com/search?q=Multiple+installations+of+LockOn+FC2&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Found answer: ========== http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2971 Source: ====== http://forum.virtualthunderbirds.com/viewtopic.php?p=29893&sid=1e935cae04094867b4331af4c51dcb09 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another How-To and adding the French Jets Mod, this is the procedure I used and it works great for FC2 by "Emmer" : =========================================== A tutorial to setup a multiple installation of LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2. Go to Start in or Begin in and delete \bin\x86\stable; now it says "D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2 - ADA MOD" ; close this window. 10.Open ModMan: go to the right top arrow ; click it ; leftclick that folder icon and search for the ADA MOD root; :\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2 - ADA MOD\ ;click ok. 11.Open Mods Installer : Add the ADA - MOD click install ; close ModMan. 12.If you click on your LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2 - ADA MOD desktop icon , the ADA - MOD works. This is for me in general the best way for multiple installations of LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2. You do not lose your settings, except for the new aircraft of course ; you need setting them up in the FC2 options menu. I hope i help you out here. Good luck! My ISP finally got my Internet feed back up since September 25, 2012. No waste of time for me. Lots of folks here have helped me since I came onboard since February 2011. I am just returning the favor. I never expected to see age 52. At least you figured it out. Cheers.
