Cannot Map the I-251 Shkval Cursor for the Su-25T
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
(re: Message #9) Concerning my DCS World re-install: The CH Pro Throttle's "mini-stick" target designator cursor now functions fine in the Su-25T's HUD and the Shkval. I mapped "x" and "y" under the mouse in Options \ Controls. The Shkval zoom I use my Fightestick's mini-throttle wheel mapped as an axis analog command. The Su-25T training add-on for the World's Su-25T , "Su-25T_Video_Setup_EN.exe" crashes to a dead state, to the opening desktop screen, when I try to use any of the Su-25T's training movies: "DCS has stopped working." . The A-10C training videos work fine, but no audio instruction, yet the other aircraft can be heard fine. In FC2, but a separate video training installation, similar to above, the Su-25T videos work fine. I will do the training process to FC2 and translate the differences to World later. I suspect the Su-25T's later betas will crossover to FC3. -
I do not have Force Feedback controllers, but the Su-25T is quite visually noticeable in close to wing stall conditions, even at higher speeds while turning and also noticeable in close to overspeed conditions. I have the CH Products typical trilogy. I can just feel by sight the Su-25T being cumbersome even compared to the DCS Warthog or BS1 or BS2. Su-25T takes almost the entire takeoff airport strip before becoming airborne, especially loaded out. Must not have the Rolls Royce engines... (Your experience and different computer / hardware may prove different.) World is still in the beta process.

Options -Controls wiped clean
ErichVon replied to Tarkus's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Nice, Black Shark sim-pit!! Looks to me like a work of love. For what that cost you, you probably could have gone and gotten the 1st phase helicopter license in real life. I looked into the basic single engine Cessna pilot's solo license locally and it can be had for about $2500 . Careful with the age 50's bracket. I had a lot of buddies never see 60. I figure anybody older than me is a survivor... Most guys are long gone by 81. -
Options -Controls wiped clean
ErichVon replied to Tarkus's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
I feel your pain, my memory sucks and I will be 61 in a few weeks. I do computer stuff today and doing the same stuff, but learning new. Tomorrow: What was I doing? I suppose surviving a cerebral hemorrhage 11 years ago probably causes issues with memory, but balance is the worst of it, been using a cane ever since---LOL! I have a 4 drawer filing cabinet with stuff in folders titled appropriately in slings on a rack within each drawer to try to function in some kind of logical remembering process. My wife has trained me well! I do similar saves within My Documents within Windows 7. Concerning DCS World, my P-51D was a separate pre-purchase installation as was the A-10C for World. My DCS: A-10C version 1.1.1.1 is not the same installation as my World: A10C; they are separate. I too, just gutted everything concerning DCS World and the only aircraft that comes with it is the Su-25T as it is similar but not identical to the FC2's: Su-25T. Some of the Options Controls are not the same. But learning it is easier for me in FC2 using Crunch's CH Products profile for it. Today I did re-load into DCS World my recently updated, pre-purchase "A-10C_1.2.0.63205.exe" file to this path: C:\DCS_WORLD\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C I dragged and dropped my "A-10C_1.2.0.63205.exe" file from where I keep it in "My Documents" over "A-10C" and it installed itself into the A-10C sub-directory under \aircrafts\A-10C . The same process is also done the same way for the P-51D's "P-51D_1.2.0.63205.exe" file, but under \aircrafts\P-51D . These are "Modules" for DCS World. They have to also be updated with the DCS World update using the same update number prefix, currently 1.2.0 . Because of the way Windows 7 negatively functions games within its Programs directory, I created my own directory, titled, "DCS_WORLD". I could title it anything, but that makes it easy for me to remember. I do not remember how I obtained the .exe file for A-10C for DCS World. I already had purchased DCS: A-10C the final release February 24, 2011 for $60. I have it patched up to version 1.1.1.1 in DCS. I see in "My Documents" stash for A-10C, the DCS World is patch #7: version 1.1.2.1 . I bet this was not a pre-purchase for me, but just a patch update. I do have the hardcopy receipt for the World P-51D pre-purchase. I only got World to mess with the P-51D, initially. And now World, since, the patches are acquired differently than when it was just DCS. I never played much with FC2 and I am currently learning the Su-25T. I have not had to go through the serial numbers request process, yet. DCS World has not asked, yet. I only use one account and everything related is on this PC. Man, the A-10C's cockpit in World sure looks crisp. Best wishes. -
Cannot Map the I-251 Shkval Cursor for the Su-25T
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Yep, same here, weird stuff happening. I updated my Message #9 as an edit as to starting over with a re-install. The-P-51D works great, the Toad---not! I have not played with the new World: A-10, yet, but I bought the pre-purchase. I will wait for final release for the World: Black Shark. -
Cannot Map the I-251 Shkval Cursor for the Su-25T
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
I will attempt this before dumping the whole mess. Thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Edit): Initially I got the CH Pro Throttle's mini-stick to function as the mouse cursor and it functioned fine in the Su-25: Single Player: "Ramp Start and Navigation" mission. The Shkval and HUD cursor operated just fine. But coming back into Options/Controls to continue to setup a few different things went kapooey. I think there are remnants of the previous beta causing conflict as I see different dates on various files back to May 2012. 8 hours later, still no joy. I am starting over from scratch. I completely gutted the Saved Games\DCS stash and uninstalled the 1.2.0 beta update. I am hoping there is nothing else in other files causing this conflict. I stashed the download in "My Documents" previously. I will report back in a few days if I win. If not I will write a note to the developers red letter express... -
Cannot Map the I-251 Shkval Cursor for the Su-25T
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
I am not using my mouse. I did try assigning the mouse but that function will not even happen in Options\Controls\Axis Commands under Mouse. I am suspecting there is a conflict in the background either within Saved Games under Users or somewhere else under C:\ for DCS World. Would other people using this with success kindly offer possible areas to clear out to remedy this situation? I created my own CH Products Control Manager profile for the P-51D that works great. I have Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. I am thinking of saving my P-51D controllers setup and completely dumping DCS World, current beta, and Saved Games and starting over. -
This issue has been addressed prior for the A-10, different controller brand: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89233&highlight=cursor ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (DCS_WORLD Version 1.2.0.3205) I am trying to use Crunch's CH Products' profile for FC2 for the Su-25T. His profile works fine for me in FC2. His profile is found here: ================ http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?7149-Lockon-Flaming-Cliffs-2!-PT-FS-PP I cannot map DCS World for the Su-25T in Options > Controls > Axis Commands: I-251 Slew Horizontal or I-251 Slew Vertical cursor for the Shkval using my Pro Throttle's Mini-Stick in "x" and "y". It is mentioned in the FC2 .pdf Flight Manual (page 280). I can set it in World, but it does not function in Single Player missions. The keyboard cursor commands of ( ; . , / ) do function properly for the Shkval's targeting cursor. I set it just fine in FC2. I can set the other functions to the Pro Throttle in DCS World with no negative issues. The 2010 published, paperback book, "Lock On: FC2 Flight Manual" identifies the Shkval TV screen as the IT-23M (page 56 and page 70). I do not know the Su-25T very well, even in FC2. Bringing this to the developers attention. I am still working the problem for solution. May attempt a different user's CH Products' profile (there are 2 others from CH Hangar) or I will try a workaround or create a separate custom setup, but I would prefer to use Crunch's profile as I use his similar controls layout for the Black Shark 1 and 2.

I can't connect to DCS Master Server of ED
ErichVon replied to HungaroJET's topic in Multiplayer Issues
(Talking to myself again!) I do better connecting with my 2 GeForce Nvidia cards in SLI and I notice in the Multiplayer World log-in screen I now display a vertical bar, that is a dynamic, SLI display, that moves as a increase/decrease movement as the SLI functions. This vertical SLI bar remains after log-in to the Master listings and as the server list populates and in game. I also notice if I jump into the log-in screen Options for 15 seconds, then come back out to the log-in screen, I will usually get a Master server list quicker. And of course clicking New Search I will also now get a re-populated Master server list that may be additional available servers that were not there previously. But sometimes when I try to log-in, the Connect button just does not depress to click on; so I play around until it works, usually incorporating Windows Task Manager. I kind of think DCS has reworked their Master server list space to function better since my previous message. Or is this problem due to the larger number of people trying to access the server list at a time? More people trying to access the list on weekends? (The Stallturn server for FC2 is supposed to be up according to the username Moa, but I have not seen it for 2 weeks in FC2 or BS1, and I check daily. Is there a connection between the different products' Master servers that some servers are not showing up?) -
Tips for CH Products HOTAS/MFD
ErichVon replied to Nereid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There is another way as to extra commands, not HOTAS joystick: Logitech's G510 keyboard has 3 banks of 6 each programmable G-keys, which has 3 modes giving myself the option of 54 keys to program key combos or macros. Just bought one to replace my G-15 keyboard to Best Buy for less than $100. I did it this way because 18 G-keys are right there to use without the need to use modes. The included small LCD screen will display the key combination when a G-key is pressed. The modes can be identified by a palette of color selections. (I stopped by this thread to grab the printout utilities to Message #6.) -
Somewhere I downloaded a bunch of freebie training tutorials for the "Su-25T Frogfoot Study" that I added to my FC2 installation, into my C: path directory. I must have found them in the DCS Users' Files download section. I added them when I installed the 1st DCS World Beta. They work fairly well in FC2, but there is no way to pause it, just can backtrack it with the slider located at bottom of the screen. The .exe file is titled: ============== Su-25T_Video_EN.exe I was going to ask you to Google it, but I found it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here you go: ========= http://lockon.co.uk/downloads/video/flaming_cliffs_2/su-25t I looked to the wrong site, not DCS, but the LockOn site. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, here is an Excel Spreadsheet of all FC2 aircraft commands. You might want to take it to a print shop to get it on longer paper. ================================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51912 If you have CH Products gear, FC2/DCS username "Crunch" made a good profile for all the FC2 aircraft, found to CH Hangar under the username "Capt Crunch" . I speak and read English, can read a little Spanish. Russian? "Forget about it", in my best Brooklyn accent... I have a big spiral bound high school 5 subject notebook and took notes from the videos, then made up a profile for my 3 controllers. I have never flown Flaming Cliffs very much and never LOMAC. I played some with the Su-33. I found the LockOn Platinum 2 disk kit for $20 US to Best Buy January 2011 and went right to DCS Warthog's 1st final release before the patches. DCS World servers are more plentiful playing the Warthog and the Su-25T, not the P-51D of what I have seen so far.

I can't connect to DCS Master Server of ED
ErichVon replied to HungaroJET's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Me, too! I get past the Multiplayer log-in, but the servers' list is lean or blank and usually locked servers. If there is a work-around, please let me know. I installed the new updates to World 1.2.0, and my 2 pre-purchases of A-10C and P-51D both also 1.2.0 within the last 5 days. Sunday, Monday and today are the worst trying to connect to Multiplayer. When the upper-echelon guys say, "Hey, get the latest and greatest!" , at least do not say it if it is not performing correctly. For me: ===== FC2 Multiplayer works for BS1, as does BS2 version 1.1.1.1 in DCS, as does A-10C version 1.1.1.1 in DCS, but as usual, except for FC2, the other servers are usually locked. I only play FC2 jets on the Stallturn server and I have not seen it for a week or more; I also entered Stallturn.com and separately its IP address with no luck in FC2. I am not buying anything else new for World until Multiplayer works properly. I realize World and its modules are in beta and a work in progress. I just hope you guys do better than Alan Jackson's experience in his song: The 1.2.0 seems fine in Single Player. I guess I'll go do carrier ops to FSX. -
That is why all the locked / passworded servers in Mutiplayer exist. What I hate is being deliberately team-killed by my same country guys. The other game I fly, if a teamplayer tries to kill me. he dies, not me. I had a jet on the other team persistently hang out over my helicopter respawn FARP just so I could not takeoff. I switched sides to fly. He left the server I was on. I switched back. Argue? I moderate my own machinist group forum. People play by the rules or they are gone and no warning. Especially with the Black Shark, 10 months later and I am still my own worst enemy---LOL!

Ideally the military trains a guy in steps from trainers to less demanding aircraft until the likes of a thoroughbred race horse. Chuck Yeager's 1st bailout was in training in a P-39. I have Yeager's 2 autobiographies, I think that is stated in the 1st book. He started out as a mechanic in the Air Force. I have been flying a lot in the FSX carrier planes. There is a free download of the Boeing T-45 Goshawk to train on the AiCarriers2 carrier practice free download to ease in to the F-18 and the Superbug. I did not know the Navy had this two seat trainer, the training pilot in the back seat. They 1st practice to a land based airfield with cables and zones to stop within before their carrier traps and cats training. Just heard a true story of an experienced pilot, by this guy's Air Force buddy. The pilot was in an A-10 that flew a combat sortie in Iraq, stationed in Saudi Arabia. On his way back home, he landed ok, his nose wheel collapsed and he died.

I watched the video. Have seen it before. All those military dressed guys are actors. The bald headed guy is Lee J. Cobb. The cartoons were probably made by Disney. They militarized Hollywood during WWII. A lot of it for training films. I noticed on landing the video states to set the mixture to full rich. I will try that. I just come in by feel, back off on the throttle, leave the rpm's high just before I encourage the Mustang to stall. I try to settle short of the threshold just a few feet over the runway, stick is in my lap and let it stall down below 100 mph. I do not touch the brakes until I get ready to turn off the runway. I think the Spits are the touchiest to land, such narrowness between the wheels. In my videos, why I keep pulling the throttle back is to see the altimeter and what altitude I am at. I need to set an offset in-cockpit view. I just recently installed the P-51D version 1.2.0 on Saturday September 15, 2012. The controls still need some fine tuning.

Also make sure with a new install or re-install you are ok with your firewall letting you(plural) in and do a defrag once or twice.

Somewhere within Aces High's forums is a good explanation how computers see each other and why bullets do not hit their intended target due to lag mostly, frame rates, ping and broadband download / upload speed differences in MULTIPLAYER. They call it FRONT END. What you see on your PC is not exactly where your opponent is and also as he sees you. I just bought bonded DSL, a new, faster technology, and I now run 4 times faster on broadband. I went from 3GB per second download speed to 12. BUT how can I compete with guys running at 30, 50, or 100 Giga-Bytes per second download speeds? I cannot. I played Aces High for 5 years and this issue is the difference, the common denominator, of guys being better at dogfighting than the next guy. And this issue is always a hush-hush topic nobody talks about because guys with the higher download/upload speeds have the advantage and they know it. Bullet streams like WWII aircraft, this makes a difference. Rockets, less so. In Single Player this issue would not be an issue, I think.
-
Doesn't the gyro pipper need to be on target a couple seconds before firing guns? I set range at 600.
-
My CH Pro Throttle, I map button 14 to the 3-way rotary. But it is not an axis setup. I like it.
-
Noticed it worse today, Sunday, September 16th, 2012 on my World 1.2.0 new setup, 2 days ago. Maybe it is worse today as more guys home on weekend off work. I wish to know how multiplayer runs in my C: Windows operating system, Win 7 Pro, 64-bit once the Multiplayer clickable is clicked on in World. What is the path to its being launched?
-
I am glad I stopped by. I just downloaded the DCS World Update 2 days ago, the Warthog and Mustang. I am not getting the World servers in MP. It is very sporadic. Wonder if it is just World or the others, too? If you'all are experiencing this, then it isn't just isolated on my end. I do not want to have to reload it all over again. I am using a SLI GeForce nVidia video cards setup. Wish you guys better days.

OK, see my message post #3 above with the links. Thanks.
-
I'm not into the video stuff, but I did save the track in my REPLAY within DCS World 1.2.0, P-51D 1.2.0 . Someone please give me some instructions how to post my .trk file here to my message #3 above, or where to find the info.

Operational bombing runs in real life were 18,000 feet to 42,000 feet. Just saw that the other night, wee morning hours, on "Great Planes" on the Military Channel. In Aces High: http://www.hitechcreations.com/ the B-17 will achieve 43,000 feet but settles in at 42,000 feet. After a run I always escaped high. P-47, Spits, and some of the German planes can get that high, in that game/sim. Few pilots know how to fly combat that high, the air is so thin. I just took the DCS World P-51D, Single Player, version beta 1.2.0 to 37,000 feet, but it is not very comfortable at that altitude. Might be able to squeeze 38,000 feet. If you take the time to wide open speed on the level, zero climb, then climb up, might achieve higher altitude. Stall buffeting at 37,000 feet about 140 mph indicated. I was riding wide open. Doesn't look like WEP's time limit on max is implemented, yet. I was strictly instrument flying. Manifold pressure was 23, RPMs 30, oil temp 85 degrees Celsius, coolant temp 110 degrees Celsius, carb temp bottom of left scale. Started out in Single Player in a stock mission from Batumi with full left and right fuel tanks. At 37,000 feet I was not quite half-way empty; I manually switched tanks to equalize them. Supercharger was set to Auto. Setting trim much above 30,000 feet didn't seem to help much. I map all 3 axis trimmers. http://www.mediafire.com/?arr10d1thanvwhw I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in quite awhile so my piloting skills reflect this, sorry. A better landing from 37K . Same as above, but jumped in on the descent and landed it: http://www.mediafire.com/?s8rytci65c77ouc I don't know what the engineering specs state. I fetched some Aces High spec sheets for the P-51D and left a couple links here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/P-51D http://www.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/Aircraft_of_Aces_High_II http://www.hitechcreations.com/component/option,com_ahplaneperf/Itemid,221/view,ahplaneperf/index.php I didn't know if this DCS P-51D will lock up over 500 mph in a dive. I backed off throttle manifold pressure and RPM wheel to all the way back. In about a 45 degree dive, 1st Mediafire link. At about 400 mph in the 20,000 feet range started to high speed buffet. I then maxed throttle and rpm, made the mistake of an abrupt move upwards and tore off both wing tips at 450 mph at about 12,000 feet. I tried to save it but not. Waited too long to bail-out and ran out of time and air---POOF. This plane is not Aces High, LOL! Dogfighting with the AI guy in Single Player, at various altitudes, speed, and angle of attack, I encountered stall buffeting 200 or 300 mph. I am not a real life pilot, but I know those 3 factors encourage how a plane operates positively or negatively and also the trim attitudes will change. The only WWII prop plane I am aware of that was great at high altitudes was the German Focke-Wulf designated Ta-152H. In Aces High I got her to 49,000 feet, but I also stalled it and did not recover until about 3,000 feet and I tried everything I could think off to quit spinning. Like DCS World, the Aces High pilot will blackout or redout depending if positive or negative G's. Also, I think any plane will flat spin given the incorrect opportunity and man does that altitude meter spin fast. I usually just back off on the throttle and rpm's and coast it down. Also this DCS P-51D you can put the mixture control to IDLE and it will coast a bit slower I think. The 1st notch of flaps will engage down around 400 mph. But I was deliberately trying to lock up the controls in a dive. How to stop the outside view rotational oscillation? It is called camera jiggle. To toggle on/off : LShift + J

I cannot remember if the 1st beta had a button to set that shows battle damage inflicted in flight. I have looked several times in the Controls Options and have not found it. Is there such a thing so I can map it?
