Check http://www.virtual-airshows.com/english/vfattv And scroll down to see the time schedule ;) Outside of our display times, the Berkuts server will operate in guest mode as usual. -
Cloud Base Question about clouds in FC2.0 Is this only texture wise or will the weather engine be improved aswell? The main thing I want to point at is that clouds (not speaking of overcast situations) never appear lower than 2000 meters. That while you setup 300 meter in the mission options. To me it appears that cumulus clouds are restricted to the highest mountain (to prevent clouds inside mountains). Sidenote: at typical summer days, clouds start to develop at around 300 meter and rize during the day to around 1300 meter. I always found that this "lack" of reality destroys the sensation of speed and altitude. Lack of speed sensation when flying between the ground and cloud base, and lack of altitude sensation when flying at high altitude as the clouds still appear to be close. Next to that, it would be really nice to have cirrus clouds implented aswell! Wags?

The first post has been updated. Feel free to copy paste the text in to other forums to spread the word! :) -
Haha good one AS :D
-
Thanks! :) This flight was nothing planned though (more like freestyle), we just threw all our pilots up to stress the camera man computer. ;) We will fly our VFAT 2009 show with 7 aircraft.

This might be useful for you: How to Install Lock On Creating multiple installs of LockOn !!!Praise for the MODs!!! a totally new Lockon experience.

Thanks guys :) Check out the final version on VFAT 2009 ;)
-
For the ones interested, the adjusted version and yes, without the red stars :D
-
Thanks a lot MAD!! You have made my day  In case anyone else needs to remove the stars on the IL-76 (for whatever reason :D) put the attached (Unzip file "RUS-STAR-ZNAK") in to Lock On\Bazar\TempTextures folder. Remove Red Stars on IL-76.zip
-
Here is the reason why I want to remove the stars :D The stars are not part of the skin, otherwise it would have been too easy :D
-
Does anyone know how to remove the red stars on the IL-76MD? Adding a blank nomera.tga in to temptex has no effect, so it must be something else.... Please help! :)

The VFAT Staff is looking for camera men and women! Are you interested in more than just watching VFAT and you want to be part of the organization of the biggest virtual airshow in the world? Let us know @ http://www.virtual-airshows.com! Minimum Requirements: - Lockon Flaming Cliffs and/or DCS Blackshark - Proc: Core 2 Duo T9400 (2x 2.53GHz) - RAM: 2 Gb - Video: Geforce 8800 GTX - Upload speed: 600kbps (75KB/s or 0.58MB/s) Do Speedtest here -
This demo was flown with all dampers/stabilizers on but basicly it doesn't really matter. All maneuvers can be flown at any setting. Just fly in the mode you prefer. I find myself very often on max rudder input. This may be because roll overcomes rudder when on max input. With other words, it is not possible to stay in symetric flight (the drift ball in the middle) when you give full roll input.

Interested in joining an aerobatic team

Like Diko said, you will need to setup the phantom on a second computer. More info about phantom control can be found here (readme in first post): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=13321&highlight=phantom+control -
Happy to wow you :) Increase the collective just a little bit and a gentle pull on the cyclic will pitch the nose up without getting airborne. Holding the wheelbrakes is required for not driving backwards too fast. I do not use hover mode. Important is to know at what attitude, or pitch angle in the hud, the Ka-50 will hover. I look at the ground while keeping the hud in view to correct any drifting. I never use trim during aerobatic demo's. I know that real Ka-50 pilots, or pilots flying helicopters with a similar trimming system, do use trim during aerial demonstrations but I prefer to have full predictive responses from my inputs at any and every moment. Although 5 years of flying certainly increased the steadiness of my hands, I wouldn't call it "surgeon quality ultra steady". :D More important is knowledge, or just understanding, of how aerodynamics on a helicopter work. How control inputs of a helicopter work and how they can work together. If you combine that with some flying experience you will be able to recognize deviations and drifts in your planned flightpath at an early state and correct immediately (anticipate). Keep it fun and don't stress yourself, the overall experience doesn't come overnight! My equipment; Saitek X52Pro, Saitek Pro Pedals, TrackIR 4 Pro.......and an always slower than preferred computer.......:D Although good equipment is welcome, it will not make you a better pilot! I use the throttle as collective with an inverted curve. This way it will work more like a real collective "pull to go up and drop to go down". :smilewink: I found the clicking (detents) quite useful as it gives me extra indications on the throttle. The cougar detents are heavier then the X52Pro's though. Thanks!!! If you have any other questions, I'm always happy to answer them. Happy flying :)

Virtual Patriots Jet Team: Live Show 09/11/09
Frazer replied to Blaze's topic in Screenshots and Videos
That is, what you could call, a controlled stall. The jet is sliding backwards here. The smokepod is placed inside the 3D model. -
This can be done by the "RotorKa50Dyn" sound. You will hear this sound in cockpit when the rotors are under stress (making turns / flying high speed). Only problem is to have this exact sound isolated from all other sounds....... Other than this, with the ED sound system as it is today, there is no way to make it all and any situation sound like 100% real. For that the sound system is not versatile enough.

Continue like this and we have FighterOps earlier then we thought! :D Great work!

Hi Razgriz, good idea to make a team for the age "gap" in the virtual aerobatic community. Would like to wish you good luck with finding pilots and building the team! Regards, Lars "Frazer" Hofman Communications & Organization Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams
