Ever wanted a PC with 4 graphics cards in it? Now you can. http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20051004/index.html I bet it would still struggle with lockon. :D

A GR Mk3. version would be nice. At least it has one MFD, LGBs and the AIM-132 ASRAAM with HMS ability. So for a bomber it would be well able to look after its self in the dogfight arena. But thats not going to happen now is it? The Indian version can also use anti ship missiles with it's Elta 2032 radar.

Sukhoi plan further Su-27 development.

Note the two tail stings are similar to the ones on the Su-47. -

But seriously I highly doubt the T-50 will look like those drawings. And I doubt Russia will produce a fighter that looks anything like the F/A-22 of F-35. Not saying they can't, just that they won't. -

Here are some concept designs, I've no idea how old they are so they may be completly wrong. http://www.suchoj.com/galerie/index.htm?http://www.suchoj.com/ab1953/T-50/galerie.shtml -

I have never seen it. It's may be the concept design. But from what I have heard the T-50 will be of a similar config to the Su-27 design but a little smaller and with some stealth features. But remember how the Su-27 (T-10) started out and how much it changed and grew. -
Sometimes i hear those tones just after takeoff, out to about 2 miles from the runway. I used to think it was a warning tone and I was checking all my warning lights. I dont think I shoud be hearing them on takeoff. And I don't have NAV mode set to landing when I'm taking off just in case anyone asks.

Sukhoi have been selected over MiG to produce Russia's 5th gen fighter. This fighter is currently known as the T-50 and is not related to the Su-47 design. It will based on the Su-35 design but far more advanced and it's overall size will be between the MiG-29 and Su-27. It is to be Russia's F-35 counterpart and will not enter service till 2015 or after. http://www.flightinternational.com/Articles/2005/09/06/Navigation/181/201351/Sukhoi+plans+further+Su-27+derivative+.html

What about a movie teaser of Black Shark
Cobra360 replied to Coffee999's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
He said he will change the service that is free of charge to a faster speed soon. He did not realise how slow the normal service was. BTW those F-14 fighter fling vids are the best after the all the Flanker ones. Fighter Fling 2004 gives a good quick history of the F-14 and all it's squadrons. Those Tomcat guys don't like the Hornet guys too much do they. :D -
Interesting Info on Migs vs. AMRAAMs
Cobra360 replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Lasers could be on fighters from 2015. http://www.cndyorks.gn.apc.org/news/articles/harmfromlaserfighter.htm DARPA also report they are nearly finished on a laser that is the size of a large fridge and can be fitted anywhere a 2,000lbs class bomb can be fitted on fighters. http://www.newscientist.com/channel/mech-tech/mg18725146.400 -

There seems to be a problem with that video. Just keep trying I guess. If a lot of people are trying to download it at the same time it won't work because of the bandwidth limitation. -
Some of the people here may have noticed that a lot of the members here have a wealth of military aviation knowledge. It's great to see that people educate themselves in their hobbies. Anyway from time to time a burst of real life information discussion can sidetrack a game topic question. I don't mind these at all as I like discussing real life stuff. But cutting a long story short I would like to suggest a seperate forum for all the military aviation buffs here, myself included. I feel it would benifit the community as well and possibly help ED in their future simulations. I feel some members here may hold back on discussing real life tactics and technology as they may feel it's OT, but in my opionion it's not. I'd like to know what other members here think and what are your views.

Here is the old Su-35 pit And below is the one off Su-37 pit which became the standard Su-35 pit after the Su-37 was returned to Su-35 standard and crashed at an airshow a year later.

In saying all of the above, the MiG-29 HUD appears to be just about spot on.
-
True that it is a different model and that it is commom for Western avonics to be fitted to the Su-30MKx series fighters. The Su-27P is basically a standard Su-27 fitted with a IFR probe and even more internal fuel than the standard Su-27s. It is an early first gen Flanker not a second gen Su-30MKI/35UB. I'm just a little suprised at ED. They have the some of the best sources on Russian hardware, and real Su-27 pilots testing the flight models and we end up with a more accurate HUD for the A-10 and F-15. It's just after years of Falcon 4. I'd love to have a Russian cockpit as accurate as the F-16 had in Falcon. If you think about ti ED have being modeling the Su-27 since Flanker 1 and still there is a bit of a way to go yet. Maybe someone from the ED team and say for sure, if corners were cut and where and why. And if there are plans to correct/modify them in the future.

If you look you will see a pitch ladder which the Su-27 does not have instead it has a +/- number readout beside the FPM. Also the FPM is of Western style in that vid aswell. The one in Lomac does not move, only spins on it's axis. And yes the pitch ladder is normal if you fly the F-15 and A-10.

I just watched a video off patricksaviation.com It featured a video called Russian Test Pilots. In this video they were flying the Su-27P and the Su-30. When they refueling mid air it showed the HUD display for a few seconds. And to my suprise it looked more like the F-15 HUD than the SU-27 HUD will all know from lockon. THe HUD had a Western style pitch ladder and a lot of other navigation information. It would appear the SU-27 modeled in Lomac is very simplifid in comparason. Here is the link to the vid. http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos.php?action=view&id=110&go=download It about 12megs but it will only download at around 30kbps unless you are a subscriber. Take a look for yourselves.

Ace Combat is for the PS2. And I think developers will be able to do Lomac graphics for the Xbox 360 if they use it right. One its has a 20Gb hard drive to load all the ground textures. Plus the 360 has 512Mb RAM. The potential is there. Could be a fun blast on Live.

That F-15E model looks very like the early Fighter Ops one before the skin was put on it. Nice all the same.

You might want to also look up World Air Force coming to the Xbox 360.

You might want to check out the vid. I have it and it's some of the best footage I have ever seen. Completely real in every way.

OT: The Russian Knights now have Su-35s.
Cobra360 replied to Cobra360's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
They would have to put a weight in the radome if the radar is removed to keep the centre gravity normal. It probably has it's gun and ammo box removed. -
It is out in the UK aswell. I get it all the time.
