The MiG-29SMT or the MiG-29SMT2 video? -
Which RWR going to be in the Ka-50
Cobra360 replied to Mechanist's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Or they could always ask Sukhoi about the Su-27SM. Seeing as the Flanker is almost a trademark of ED at this stage. -
Question for the hardware specialists
Cobra360 replied to zenTera's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would highly advise you to go with AMD over Intel. AMD have better performance across the board and use less power. I would say go with the 4000+ wich is in reality a rebadged FX-53. The Asus A8N SLi is a great board on the market right now. The differences are detailed in the links below. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=305264&cks=PRL Deluxe http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=305190&cks=PRL Premium http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=310299&cks=PRL The premium has better cooling if you want to overclock. I'd go with the deluxe version if you are not planning on any mojor overclocking. The 7800GTX is a great card to get and the 512 versions which are clocked higher than the GTX with 256 RAM are faster than ATI's new top end card the X1800XT. But the 512 version are very expensive but they do give a good performance gain over the 256 GTX models. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=310704&cks=PRL http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=315241&cks=PRL And finally for the RAM, I'd say go with some good quality Corsair RAM. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=300699&cks=SPC Sorry for the brief answer but I'm in a bit of a rush, hope it helps you out. -
A.) I think what happened is that the Hawk fired it's missile and was then destroyed, the missile needs a radar lock to find it's target and since the radar is gone the missile self destructs. It's a RL safety measure that once a missile looses guidance completly and has no other means of finding the target it destroys its self. B) The Gepard's radar needs to be on for your missile to guide on the radar emmisions. Anti-radar missiles need the source target to keep transmitting until impact unless you were using an AGM-88 which has a memory.

How's Strikemax's Su-27 model?
Cobra360 replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'd pay what I payed for FC just for that alone. As already mentioned in this thread, the Su-27 will always be associated with ED and it is suprising that they have not modeled it as good as say... the MiG-29, F/A-18 and Su-25T. I remember when I first played the lockon demo in November 03 and the MiG-29 3D model blew me away. Someone gave that model alot of TLC and I would have liked to see if the same quality was on all flyables at the time of release but Ubi rushed them. I think the AFM Su-27/33 should be on high priority for ED but seeing as it's too late into the overall project at this stage I guess we can only hope for it in the next project. Oh, just a thought a AFM Su-33 would make for some very interesting carrier landings. *drools at the thought* -
How's Strikemax's Su-27 model?
Cobra360 replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
One would have thought they would have released it in 1.1 or 1.11, if Strikemax kept working on it we would have had it a long time ago. I would be nice to have in 1.2 but for now we can just use the high res loman skins which do the job nicely. -
Oh, almost forgot what is the pod under the right intake? To me it looks very much like the seeker head off an A2G missile/bomb.
-
Thank you both, Wolverine and Trident.
-
Thing is the Ka-50 is a single seater while the Hokum in EE:CvH is the Ka-52 which is a two seater. But I'm all for a flyable Su-30. I do not think you would really need a competant AI in the back seat or front just have the option to switch seats and operate both cockpits systems. Or just turn on an autopilot or combat autopilot while we mess around in the back seat.
-
My thoughts exactly :D

I have a few questions about Russian targeting pods and recce pods. If anyone can tell me their names and abilities as I'd like to know more about them. This Su-34 has the APK-9E datalink pod under the left intake pylon and is used with the Kh-59 missile. I dont know this one but it's a targeting pod for the Su-25TM (Su-39)on the centerline pylon. This Su-30MK has a targeting pod under the left intake and a recce pod on the centerline pylon, again I don't know their names.

Try looking in the sound options. Check the radio slider.

Some things that *should* be in V1.11+
Cobra360 replied to D-Scythe's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Or flying across the sun worked a treat aswell. -
Then you have B-2s with a standard combat load of 16 2,000lb JDAMs. If they were all dropped on the same point, well...
-
I know you were Yellonet, I just wanted to show a 2,000lb explosion instead of a weak 500lb one. Relative of course.:D
-
That would depend if a delay fuse was used or contact. Bombs with delay fuses will make a bigger crater than the same bomb on a contact fuse. This is a 2,000lb LGB detonation.
-
Explosion of Mk-82 Bomb taken from 1500m
-
Here is a pic of a Mk-84 (left) and a new enhanced 1,000lb bomb (right) not Mk-83. If only there was an object to scale it against.
-
A Daisy Cutter is around 15,000lbs with 12,600lbs explosive.
-
It could depend on the bomb filling. Demolition bombs use more explosive material at the expanse of frag damage. While frag bombs use less explosive material. There are no frag bombs in the US inventory any more as demolition bombs a deemed to have enough frag damage. For a 2,000lb er the lethal blast over pressure radius for infantry is said to be 110ft yet frag resulting from that can be lethal out to around 3,000ft regardless of bomb size. Bomb size mainly effects blast radius size and not frag radius, just frag intensity, as a bigger bomb casing has more poetential frag material. Thats what I can make sense of from various sources anyway.
-
I'd say the overpressure would probably break most of the bones of your body. Overpressure would get you first and then you'd be riddeled by frags. Even if you were not killed by that you wouldn't be doing very much ever again.

Safe escape data is generally limited to release airspeeds between 450 KTAS [Knots True Airspeed] and 600 KTAS. For the A-10, safe escape is generally limited to release airspeeds between 300 KTAS and 400 KTAS. For the B-1, safe escape is limited to release airspeeds between 340 KTAS and 560 KTAS. For the B-52, safe escape is limited to release airspeeds between 350 KIAS [Knots Indicated Airspeed]and 390 KIAS. [Airspeed may also be expressed as KCAS - Knots Calibrated Airspeed, or KGSP Knots Groundspeed]. Fragments of a bomb case can achieve velocities from 3,000 to 11,000 fps depending on the type of bomb (for example GP bomb fragments have velocities of 5,000 to 9,000 fps). The fragmentation effects generated from the detonation of a high-explosive bomb have greater effective range than blast, usually up to approximately 3,000 feet regardless of bomb size. The fragmentation effect can be maximized by using a bomb specifically designed for this effect, or by using a GP bomb with an airburst functioning fuze.

It looks like the radar display from DIDs F-22 TAW. Great for SA. And if that was for 1984 F-15s imagine what they are being fitted with now. FDL and touch screen weapon selection was the last I heard.

Yes the MiG-23MLD does have LD/SD IRL. The radar fitted to the MLD, the then new SP-23L radar is a improvement over the one in the previous MF. It has a range of 56 miles (90km) rather than 37 miles (60km) and has improved LD/SD and jamming abilities. But the MLD LD/SD radar has a lot of limitations when compared to an F-15 for example.
