Here is a link I found with some brief information on the Ka-50. There is a link to a low quality video of the Ka-50 flying around and doing it's thing. http://www.rusarm.ru/p_prod/airfor/ka50.htm# Just if anyone is interested to see what we will be up to in 1.2 in a year from now.

Major Problem with A-10 Helo-hunt Missions
Cobra360 replied to D-Scythe's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Appears to be effective against aircraft alright, provided you have the right versoin of the missile. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/at-16.htm -
That was intoduced with the MiG-29SMTs. They can be fitted to the S version aswell. They are simple bolt on kits. The MiG-29M2 has a nice, almost fully built in one. I think the K version has that aswell.

Major Problem with A-10 Helo-hunt Missions
Cobra360 replied to D-Scythe's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Try to put the Vikhrs in your 3 or 9 o clock and keep turing to keep it there. The seeker should not be able to keep track and should miss. There is no counter measures against a laser track except smoke and I'm not sure if that is modeled in the game or how you are supposed to put smoke between yourself and the missile. I see the need for a trackfile file here demonstrating the ability to dodge the Vikhr. -
A couple of MiG-29 shots. MiG-29SMT MiG-29M2 MiG-29A MiG-29S Fulcrum C

I'm sorry if someone already brought this up but. Has anybody seen these screen shots of what is supposedly FC. http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?end_pos=129&scr=products&lang=en They look great and all but a few things struck me. A number of screen shots have the Preditor UAV. Where exactly is the UAV featured in FC? I have looked and it's not in my copy. Also the new high-res GBU-10/12/16 and 27 LGBs, where did they come from. Are these some sneaky shots of 1.2. or are they just pre-renders? Anybody from the ED team care to comment. Nice screenies BTW.

The poor MiG-29A is feeling neglected. It just can't compete with the MiG-29S which is better in every way, plus the hunch back. I give all the fighters in Lockon a spin from time to time. But my favourite is the Crane. It has everything, the looks, power, weapons and agility. BTW, ED if you have any spare time on your hands could you look into the Su-27SM, she would be off the hook in Lockon. Having only got FC a week ago I love the new role rate of the Su-27/33 and the A-10 wow. That thing can turn far better now. I'm suprised there are not more Hog fans in the pole.

Shepski's A-10 weapon mod

The Flankers are the true stars of the series. It's like time moved on and forgot them. The MiG-29 3d model, I think is excellent. It was the best till the Su-25T came along. If the Flanker family could be brought up to a similar standard as the MiG-29 model, well it would be sweet. I think ground crew are a long way off. One game stands out, F/A-18 Superhornet. The carrier deck crew giving you hand signals as you taxied to the catapult for launch were great. It gave the game extra immersion.
-
But it should be. In Janes F/A-18 you can launch as many AIM-7s as you want against the same target. All the radar does is act as a gaint torch. As long as the torch shines at the target the SARH can see where they are going. The R-27 and AIM-7 don't recieve mid-course updates for the launch aircrafts radar like the AIM-120 does. It has nothing to do with the fire control computer, as all it has to do is keep the target locked until impact. And it was a practice tought in the Russian airforce to fire off two missiles at a time. The MiG-25 for example would be armed with 4 R-40 missiles. This ment it could effectively deal with engaging two targets per mission. The IR R-40 would be fired first followed by the SARH R-40. They were fired in this order to reduce the chance of the IR R-40 locking on to the SARH R-40's exhaust.

I think the funnel width feature could be very easily added and was overlooked in 1.1. When you use the Su-25T targeting system you have to set the target size with the ctr+, ctrl-, keys. These key commands could have been used for the EEGS aswell. Then only thing is there is no display to know what wingspan you have set if for.

ED, I think I found a great source of info on F16

Thats good to hear. Keep up the good work. -
It was a very close decision. Winning by just 4 votes and all, and to France of all places.

Hi, Olgerd. I'm just wondering if it possible if you can confirm other possible flyables that ED are going to add to this future project. Are you free to comment on any details at this very early stage? Could we see the MiG-29SMT, possibly? -
OT: interesting article by and F/A-18 pilot
Cobra360 replied to leafer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Unless its made to be a YF-16 cockpit. The stick did not move at all in the YF-16, and a bit of ''play'' was introduced so thats how the stick stops are so small. And when the pilot opens the inflight refuling door the FCS automatically limits how far the stick will even more so you will have less than a quarter inch stick movements. It's like the flight controls of the former Su-37. -
Weather modelling in LOMAC Flaming Cliffs...
Cobra360 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
http://www.lo-mac.com/updates.php Download the 1.00 to 1.02 patch. Don't bother with the other ones. FC can only be installed over a clean Lockon installation or one patched to version 1.02 Do not go near the 1.01 patch and everything will work Ok. -
Weather modelling in LOMAC Flaming Cliffs...
Cobra360 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes turbulence can be set for different altitudes, no gusting winds but there is wind. And crosswind landings in the Su-25T have to be one of the best things ever. Hard but rewarding. You need LOMAC installed first and then just add FC. You need to keep the FC CD in the drive as you play. -
I remember a Vietnam A-4 mission that was the first to use the AGM-62 EO glide bomb. Each of the A-4s was equiped with one bomb each for that mission.
-
I mean limited in what it can carry in one go. Considering the fact that you will probably need drop tanks due to the A4s small combat radius. I'm not doubting the range of weapons its cleared to use at all.
-
This ''crack noise'' wouldn't happen to be a sonic boom by any chance? Check your air speed indicator after you hear the noise and see if you are over Mach 1
-
Very limited weapon carrying ability though. You'd always need two underwing tanks installed. But other than that I'd imagine it would be very fun to fly. Maybe it could be used as a basic training aircraft.

Flight envelope issue when using Full G Effects
Cobra360 replied to LiquidFuse's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Its around 500-600kph depending on the weight and the altitude you are flying at. The same is true of the MiG-29 aswell. The Su-27 performs better at lower speeds than an F-15 of F-16 can. At higher speeds where the F-15 and F-16 are in the element the Su-27 is equal to them. Once you go above 700kph in a max G turn in the Flanker you will notice the radius start to increase which you don't want. The Flanker favours the low speed turning fights. -
Helos are fine. I think the Israeli's got a couple of flying helo kills with Mavericks in the 1980s. It's just the tracking rate in the Maverick cannot cope unlees the target is directly receding or coming straight at you.

They are there for Red Flag exercises that are held every year. There are some F-16s and F-16Is there in IDF/AF cammo
