  1. 2.This thread is great for back a forth with devs! Good discussion happen here too. Specific issues have their thread created already. Also, first page is updated with changelogs. So, just just follow the flow and come surfin' with us bro :)
  2. It's in HOTAS section in controls. "Aux. UHF radio SELECT" and "Main U/VHF Radio SELECT". Use them to select the radio you want to use. "\" will use whatever radio is active at that moment. As said before, this will only work for in-game comms (ATC, Tanker, etc).
  3. Think of a customized vehicle. DCS is your civilian Hummer. The rugged / reinforced Hummer is TBS, it is made on request and on requirements, not sold in the store. You might get to drive a Hummer if you're in the military and your gov't bought them and assigned one to you. Otherwise you're stuck in the truck like the other grunts, but you can still buy and drive your civilian Hummer back at home ;)
  4. For this one you can develop some muscle memory, practice coordinated turns with the ball and after some time your feet will put the right amount of rudder when banking without thinking about it (make sure you're trimmed). Also by looking outside it's possible to evaluate sideslip, it's not too accurate either but it will help a bit too. Once you get some muscle memory from previous exercise, practice again by forcing yourself looking the least possible at the ball, your eyes will also develop a "feel" of how the environment should move around you when in a correct turn.
  5. The relevant part is in first post - everything after that is only mission description and screenshots - nice but out of topic:
  6. The CJ will be very challenging, as far as I know it had some issues that were only partially solved: flameout due to gun gas ingestion, radar so poor that the Israeli used it in locked position like a gunnery radar, unreliable radar guided missiles. Also it carried only one R530 and 2 sidewinders, most of its kills were done with guns. So... Lots of fun :D :D
  7. Yes, it was J for "Juif" ("Jew"), as "I" was already used for another customer, IIRC.
  8. CJ dropped the ability of using the attached take-off rocket, hence the different rear section.
  9. More than that, it's an all different beast. MiG-21 equivalent, technology-wise. That would be awesome!
  10. I don't think point 1. is valid, WWII is very enjoyable and not everyone only wants to fly jets. Otherwise IL2 would never have been popular (LOMAC and BMS were already there).
  11. I don't think it is that difficult but propably time consuming as each version has it's own branch and update cycle.
  12. Hehe good one :D In danger? Shake those dead weights out lol.
  13. It indicates your payload doesn't match the FBW G Limiter AA/Charges switch setting. Anything other than A/A missiles + empty central fuel tank requires to be in "Charges" mode. Therefore, if you start your flight with a non-empty central fuel tank and A/A missiles you'll be in "Charges" (limited to 6G). When that tank comes empty the CONF light will light up and, you'll be able to go to "A/A" (limited to 9G). If you fly with the switch set to "A/A" and CONF is illuminated, you risk create damage to the airframe or lose your payload. P.S.: read manual p46
  14. In an ideal world yes, but is this implemented in DCS at the moment?
  15. For PID to PIC, make sure you're in PRF (upper right in VTB). I think you can't hard lock (PIC) when in ENT or BRF (pulse repetition, it's a 3 position switch on radar panel). In the video I saw "ENT". As far as I remember RDO was always doing soft lock. Maybe at some point it was hard lock but now it's soft lock (PID), which makes more sense IMO. P.S.: For the Magic after 18:00,I already told you: your missile didn't have an IR lock on the target ;) You know it's locked (IR) when you have the loud tone and a small circle on target. The IR missile should lock when you put the target on the boresight (gun cross). In the future we'll have a "slave to radar" feature, it will make IR lock easier. P. P. S. : Don't press that lock button too much, if you're in PIC, that will result in unlock. Very annoying, I asked RAZBAM to remove that. For the time being you must monitor your VTB. Don't ever press lock again once you obtained PIC!
  16. It's on the upper row of PCA, first on the left. It becomes available once master arm is ON. When you click it the radar will soft lock (PID aka TWS) the first priority target.
  17. You missed that last S 530D because you were in PID mode (TWS). I can tell you're in PID because I can see more than one contact on the VTB (most likely VTB was still in "PID"). You must be in PIC mode (STT) in order to guide the missile (from PID lock mode, lock a second time, make sure VTB displays "PIC"). I think the 530 at 18:00 missed for the same reason. After 18:00, the Magic II missed because you didn't have a solid lock (the missile must have acquired the target first). In future updates we should have Magic II seeker slaved to radar but for now you must put the target on boresight cross for the missile to lock (it makes a loud noise and a small circle appears on the target). Nothing serious don't worry  P.S.: If you can't go in PIC, make sure pulse frequency is "PRF" as "BRF" or "ENT" won't allow you to go in PIC mode.
  18. Sure, let me know. I was suggesting to use extreme values only to validate the process, after that you can use whathever setting you feel is right ;) As far as I know it's for VR setups too, not only stereo monitor (I assume you mean 3D monitor). Best way is to try it.
  19. As far as I know it's in \DCS World\Config\MonitorSetup\Stereo.lua There is an "eye_shift" parameter, try changing it. The sum of those two should be equal to your IPD (IIRC value is in meters, <0 for left eye and >0 for right eye, therefore in your case that should be -0.034 and 0.034). Unfortunately I don't have any VR gear to test that out. I suggest you try various values here and first, see if that changes anything (I believe it does), second, find the best setting for you. This discussion occured a while ago and some people reported that putting smaller values here (equivalent of making the cockpit feel bigger) made it more comfortable.
  20. Where did you set this value? Was it in DCS? I didn't have a chance to fly again with DCS with the newer drivers and Rift so I don't know if the camera separation can be changed or not. What's confusing is when people speak about IPD is there can be two different settings, one (optical) is how well the HMD lenses are aligned with your own eyes and the other one (software) is how the game is rendering the two viewports. First one will impact how comfortable wearing the HMD is (eye strain, focus), the other one will affect your sense of scale. I hope at some point (if it's not the case already) the camera separation will be easily tunable inDCS, allowing people to adjust the scale to their liking. I don't have the budget to jump in now but I certainly will :D P.S.: if you're not sure how the setting is affecting your game experience, just try the extreme values, you should definitely see a difference.
  21. Not only. IPD will affect your sense of scale for sure. I experienced it myself with a friend who made me try his DK2, using FSX and flyinside. If your IPD is bigger than what the game is calculating (i.e. camera position), every will look much bigger because it will assume your head (and eye separation) is very small compared to what it sees. If your IPD is smaller than the one calculated in-game, everything looks small and toy-ish because your brain think your head is actually bigger - just like if you're wearing a toy cockpit like a helmet.
  22. Right now you can't, it's known already. See this bug report.
  23. Something else came to my mind, the file \Config\options.lua (with an "s") should be here regardless. How are you starting DCS? If you "run as admin" then you must look in admin\Saved Games\DCS instead of <user>\Saved Games\DCS (or DCS.openbeta or DCS.openalpha).
