If I knew what an ARG was, I might be able to respond. Vonrd is one of those folks in love with acronyms no one understands. Spell them out. Bro!

I fired a Shrike at a Fire Can today. Damaged the radar a bit but totally demolished the generator parked next to it. The AAA stopped firing and I guess that was the point of the exercise. Close but no cigar

After fiddling with it all afternoon, I did what I shudda done in the first place: Deleted the module and reinstalled it. Works fine now. Thanks, folks!

Well, I can't seem to fix it. What exclusions should I add to my AV software? It appears it was the Jester dll that was causing the problem but I don't know how to exclude or replace it. Thanks in advance! HotTom aka tttiger

It's been working fine but all of a sudden, when I log in, I get a message that F-4E is disabled on my computer. WTF? Can I fix it?

AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024

Nope. Tried it both in caged and A/G. Still wouldn't launch the missiles. Odd because the Bomb Button works for everything else. Must be something I'm not clicking.. -

AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024

I can't get the Shrike to launch in either Direct or AGM-45 mode. Stations selected, Master Arm on, AG sight or Cage sight, in range, Pickle with the bomb button. What am I doing wrong? -
My point is: If you are flying as the flight leader and you RTB to rearm and refuel, your flight will land, taxi to a refueling point and just stay there. I agree with you: All-AI flights will land, rearm and refuel and then take off on another mission. Those AI who are led by a human won't take off again. As a mission writer (tttiger), I find it very frustrating. This needs to be fixed. It makes no sense.

I'm not sure how you conducted your test, you give no details. Try this: Set up a mission in which you are leading a four-plane flight (three AI plus yourself). In the ME, instruct the AIs to rtb and refuel and rearm and then take off for a new mission. When you land and refuel and rearm and take off yourself, your AI flight members will not take off. Let me know what you find, please.

IronMike: You should take a lesson from this. What folks like myself are looking for are simple instructions. Turn Switch A to Setting X. That will cause this to happen. Then the next step. Then the next. What many of us need are simple, clear instructions on how to use all this stuff. Nothing you (or HB) has provided is of any use to "monkey-see--monkey-do" types like me. Much to be said for KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

It's working now and saving itself as it should. Thanks, folks!

Thanks, Flappie. It suddenly came to life.

Since the last update, I can find no way of saving control settings. The little save tab that used to be in the upper right corner of the Controls menus has disappeared. I don't want to import anything. I just want to save what I set in the controls menu so it will be there when I fly again. Probably just me but what am I missing? How do I save the settings?

CTLD and CSAR on the South Atlantic map
HotTom replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
If I had any idea what CTLD and CSAR mean, I might have an answer. Please: don't use acronyms. -
The ability for warbirds who rtb to refuel and rearm to take off and fly another mission. Right now they rtb, refuel and rearm and then don't go anywhere even if there are additional waypoints laid out for them.

Captain Orso: "don't know that much about JTAC in WWII, but from my understanding, it wasn't someone driving around and picking targets." I am trying writing some JTAC missions for a Normandy P-47 campaign I am building and found this post in my research.. You're right, Cap, you don't know much (anything?) about JTAC in WWII. The 9th US Air Force used it used it and they rode in Sherman tanks, not jeeps. They coordinated the tactical aircraft directly with the supported ground unit in real time. The technique was designed by Gen. Pete Quesada, commander of IX Tactical Air Command. To test it, he personally took a borrowed Sherman tank outfitted with radios on multiple bands so he could talk to both ground and air units. The tank rode in the van of an armored column. Above, a flight of four P-47s flew as scouts for the tank column, rotating the duty every half hour. Other P-47s were ready to scramble if the patrol needed help. The tactic was called "Armored Column Cover" (ACC). The first ACC mission was flown on 26 July 1944, the day after the launch of Operation Cobra, with 75 ACC missions flown with more than 300 P-47s. The next day more than 100 missions were flown. ACC remained a mainstay of IX TAC and later XIX TAC through the rest of the war. Doctrine was changed and TO&Es were modified so that units had a designated tank for tactical air control. " “Normandy operations, typified by Quesada's armored column cover and Broadhurst's contact cars, thus fulfilled a concept born a quarter-century earlier, amid the mud of Flanders: the notion of the airplane as a partner of the tank, as a "counter antitank" weapon. In that war, then-Colonel J.F.C. Fuller, Great Britain's greatest armor advocate, had recognized that cooperation between air and armor forces was "of incalculable importance.” ― Richard P. Hallion, D-Day 1944 - Air Power Over The Normandy Beaches And Beyond [Illustrated Edition]

GUIDE / INFO : DCS Updater Usage, Version Numbers, Module IDs
HotTom replied to SkateZilla's topic in General Tutorials
I run the non-MT version updater and afterward switch back to the MT version. The updates are now there. The MT version doesn't have an updater. Clunky but it works.
