Decision has been made. We will be using JaBoG32's TS for BlueFor (note PM)

BlueFor: JaBoG32's TS will be the location for comms for Blue FOR. I will PM the squad leaders the details. For RedFor: We are going to use the 159th TS. Goon and Goya I will PM the details to you. Also I will disclose the info to Laud, Sven and Foxter so that we can all meet up afterwards to brief each other.

Okay, I found a service is San Diego that will let me connect my machine to an optical connection. They guarantee 100mbps in both directions. My machine is a C2D with 2gigs of ram so this may be a feasible choice. The only downside is they want 50 dollars to rent the line. I would need help from the community if I was going to do this. Let me know what you guys think. Fudd EDIT: We will plan on using RVE server as a primary (JaBoG32 is also a possibility) and then hooking up my machine as a back-up plan. If $hit hits the fan and we need to go with the back up plan, I will just foot the bill... after all this Op is my idea. ;)

Ya know Fudd, I always had a soft spot for you..... For comms, I want all BlueFor and RedFor to be on TS. I will post which TS servers we will use for the match today.

FYI, I edited the briefing. It has been decided that the Strike aircraft may use Krymsk (RedFor) and Kirovskoe(BlueFor) as FARP's. This decision was made after actually flying that distance and taking in to account the likelihood of extending if there are hostile aircraft in the area. FIGHTERS MAY NOT USE THESE FARPS!!!!

This is a work in progress, so yes I would love to hear your suggestions. JaBog32 will also get the chance to design a mission... I am looking forward to seeing it. I agree.... I didnt give myself enough time on this one. A week long buisness trip put the screws to me... RL sucks! For future missions we will make the 7 day from general brief to gameday a requirement. The extra SAM presence in the region is due to eight Su-25t's that will be on RedFor. I've flown the mission a couple of times and tweaked it based on how hard it was for me. (I'm no expert at the 25t btw). @ Woody: As far as lag goes, I would like to test it before "game day." There is nothing I hate more than lag, so if you have some suggestions please PM me! @ PoleCat and ReO, thanks for the kind words, S!

Operation Red Flag, Mission 1: The Battle for Kerch. 1400 Zulu 26 May 2007 Tensions have reached a breaking point as US and German forces, aided by Georgian Supply ships, have moved towards the Crimean city of Kerch. US Forces have set up artillery to prevent ships moving through the straits. These positions are heavily guarded by SAM’s to include Patriot and Hawk batteries and highly mobile Roland and Avenger air defense systems In response to the NATO build up forces and the stronghold on the straits of Kerch, Russian forces have begun moving supplies and armor into the region. Russian supply ships have been photographed moving into the straits to support the build-up of forces. Convoys of trucks and equipment along with armor and Tunguska and Strela air defense systems have been seen moving towards the area. BlueFor Objectives: Primary: Fighters: Establish air superiority to allow strike aircraft to complete the mission. Strike: Sink all supply ships moving into the Kerch Straits. Secondary: Strike: Destroy convoys moving into the region. Destroy all Armor and ADS near the straits. RedFor Objectives: Primary: Fighters: Shoot down any NATO aircraft that flies east of Kirovskoe. Strike: Destroy enemy artillery positions. Secondary: Fighters: Escort strike aircraft enroute to secondary objective. Strike Destroy all SAM sites in the Crimean peninsula. Destroy Georgian Supply Ships near the town of Feodosija. Airbases: BlueFor: Strike Aircraft will be located at Gvardjskoe with a FARP at Kirovskoe. Fighter Aircraft will be located at Simferopol. Runway 19L/01R is for outbound traffic only. RedFor: Strike Aircraft will be located at Krasnodar Center with a FARP at Krymsk. Fighter Aircraft will be located at Krasnodar Pashkovskij. Runway 23R/05L is for outbound traffic only. ROE: No ROE for this first mission. NATO movement into Kerch is considered a hostile action. Basic Rules: NO RESPAWN THE BASES LISTED ARE THE ONLY BASES YOU CAN LAND AT AND REFUEL/REARM. The fighters WILL NOT REARM/REFUEL at the FARP's (Krymsk and Kirovskoe) only the strike aircraft can do this. If you land at a base that is not considered hostile than you must leave the mission, but it will not be considered a loss. If you land behind enemy lines it is considered a loss and you must leave the mission. (Kerch is behind enemy lines for both sides, anything east of Kirovskoe is enemy lines for BlueFor. Anything west of Anapa is enemy lines for RedFor.) VULCHING IS ALLOWED (the likelihood that you will be successful is small) NO MODDED LOADOUTS (Includes R-77 on the outermost pylon on the 29… etc etc, u know what’s modded and what isn’t) NO WHINING (I have a rack set up… if you whine you’ll get placed in the rack and flogged repeatedly) Squad Leaders: I am tasking each of you to uphold these rules for all members of your squadron. In order for this to be successful everyone must follow the rules without complaining. I will be around on Saturday watching the mission, but I expect everyone to play fairly without my intervention. That being said, I have no doubt that everyone will uphold the rules and play fairly. This exercise is including some of the most professional members of the community. I like that idea alot! I will post the mission objectives and bases tomorrow, along with a general briefing of the area. If the mission leaders will highlight on the map where they want the waypoints for their flights to go then I can create them without both sides knowing the "flight plans." I would encourage squadrons to work together to come up with an appropriate battle strategy.

Your request is not falling on deaf ears. I am aware that many people want to fly specific aircraft.... I get that. I chose to honor requests for the first mission to make it NATO vs Warsaw. I am willing to change it around for future missions. The thing I like about allowing all a/c on both sides is the ability to work with different squadrons. Please be patient with this first mission and I believe it will turnout a success.

The 169th respectfully declined the invitation to attend this first mission. I hope that in subsequent missions that they will join us, as they are valued members of the community.

Gents, The reason for the "inbalance" on the fighter side is an effort at preserving a NATO vs Warsaw mission. As far as weapons loadouts goes, we will allow what is allowed in lock-on with a clean config file. In other words the 29A will have the T, F-15's will be allowed a full 8 Aim-120's if they wish, ET's will be allowed and no R-77 on outer pilons of the Mig-29S. There is no plan to incorporate EWR or AWACS in this mission, because of the obvious lack of datalink in western aircraft. I made all efforts to include the aircraft people requested and take into account the overall fairness of the mission. If everyone on blueFor feels like their outgunned, than have your squad leaders PM me and I will see what I can do. S!

I will try to make it later in the day on Saturday for subsequent missions. The problems with using anything later than 1400 zulu on Sundays, is that you start running into Monday morning for some people.

I agree and I am not against changing things during other missions within the exercise. For this first mission we are going to set the bar low with rules and ROE's. I am more concerend with getting us all together and seeing how it works.... we can tweak things as we go. Oh and BTW, The only n00b in this exercise is me! :D

I'm trying to keep it simple for the first mission. All countermeasures will be allowed except for use of ECM macro.

Thanks for the suggestion Yoda. I dont agree with not using ECM, especially for strike aircraft. As far as spamming of chaff, the base distances are supposed to discourage you from blowing your load.... if ya know what I mean.

I'll give more information about that in a few days. I'm in Alaska on business for the next week so It wont be before the 19th. It depends, submit a request to me via PM and I will take it from there.

UPDATE: This exercise will kick off at 1400 Zulu on 26 May 2007. Squad leaders: I will need final numbers from you on how many pilots will be attending. Ensure you include with this information what aircraft you are requesting. I will make all possible efforts to honor your requests. I need all requests by 0000 Zulu on 19 May 2007. This is so I have time to do the mission building. If you get your requests to me after this date, I can’t make any promises on including your squad in the first mission. Also, I would like to speak to all squad leaders via TS before the mission kicks off. This is so I can disseminate information rapidly and answer any questions. I will be posting further information about this later on.

I've talked with both Goya and Konny via PM's. Goya gave me some good insight on previous exercises. :smilewink: As soon as you guys know how many pilots you want to dedicate let me know.
