But it is for me to judge.... Work together with them like you would with other squadrons. If for some reason in the future the integration of "lonewolf" pilots in to the mission is not working, and it is because of reasons other than a specific squadrons disintrest in working with them, I will decide to leave them out. As things stand right now you will have to deal with it.

I spoke to you briefly yesterday on TS regarding this issue. 1) All non-squad pilots will have a checkflight. This checkflight will test their abilities to ensure that they have the skill sets needed to participate in the mission effectively. 2) Oh ye of little faith! Do you really think I will let this turn into "air quake?" 3) The non-squad members will be encouraged to pair up with those in squads. Their effectiveness in doing so will depend on the leadership abilities of the squad. The whole point of this exercise is to work within the community.... and you never know, that pilot you just worked with in Red Flag maybe knocking on your door tomorrow as a new recruit.... its up to you!

Originally that was the plan. I had to cut some people because I was over the 60 person limit. If for some reason people drop out, I will let you know.

I have had over 75 people request slots for this next Red Flag! This is awesome that we are having this much interest in the exercise. ENROLLMENT FOR MISSION TWO IS NOW CLOSED! If you have not sent me a private message by this point then you will not be able to participate in the second mission. Make sure you get your requests in for the third mission before the deadline so that you can fly with us. I will be posting the teams in the next few days. Obviously I will have to cut some of the pilots from the list as the server will not handle more than 60 players. I will be alllowing squadrons to alternate pilots in game as long as both pilots fly the same aircraft and that airframe is not downed for any reason. So for example 159th_Fudd and 159th_Fusion are assigned to Su-33, tail # 62. Fudd flies the first sortie, Fusion flies the second. If the airframe is lost at some point during the mission both pilots are out. I will be sorting out more information and rules on this in the next few days. Thanks! Fudd

What we will do for this second mission is have the following coalitions. RedFor: Russia and Israel BlueFor: USA, Ukraine and Georgia. For subsequent missions I will entertain the idea of having Russia and the US be on the same coalition to allow the Su-33's and A-10's to be on the same side. Those of you who dont like that idea.... of course, post away!

Keeping it simple has always been the goal. Less working parts, the less likely it is to break. But like many other situations, we are also striving for perfection. Because this is a community exercise, often times we are going to illicit help and suggestions from the community. Afterall this exercise is designed to serve everyone. Please help us by first and foremost being polite. It will keep me in diplomatic mood and from telling everyone to go f**k off and die. The problem was addressed last time that certain people wanted to fly certain aircraft. The point of suggesting this mod was to satisfy that request without having to break up squads and force people to fly a blue or red force all the time. See it for what it is, post your polite comments and move on. We will continue to take the suggestions and use our best judgement so that this exercise continues to be enjoyable for all THANKS!

We are not using the mod for this next mission. The other thread is designed to get a feel for whether people would be willing to use this mod in the future. S!

I want to open this topic up for discussion. Please post your thoughts about this. I also want to point out that I have used this mod, and unistalled it, (using modman) without any problems. Due to the time constraints we are not going to use this for mission 2, however if the community gets on board with this mod, I would like to see it used in the future. Side Note: In order to help me continue red flag and honor the request for having a 4 week turnaround between missions, I have brought on a team of moderators to assist me. 3Sqn_Fudd and S77th Goya are now part of the moderating staff. I just want to put it out there again YOUR REQUESTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS SECOND MISSION OF LOCERF ARE DUE THIS MONDAY!!!

Let see what we can do with performance this time around using a different machine. I am planning on using my machine as the server its powered by a C2D and next week I'm slapping 4 GB RAM up in her. The problem I have with anything over 3 hours is first, server performance, it would require a reboot and rerun of the mission. Second it turns into me dedicating 8+ hours in one day (set-up, brief/debrief etc). If we get more than 60 people interested in this, then squad leaders will either have to alternate people so that those who didnt fly last time get to fly this time OR I might be willing to entertain the idea of sorties. If you have one pilot fly one sortie and then you want to have a different pilot that wants to fly the same aircraft for a second sortie. (I reserve the right to change my mind :) )

The 159th has created a campaign ribbon that we will distribute to all that participate in LOCERF. I will be sending it out to each of the squad leaders

I'm glad you asked..... Please PM me before Monday June 4th at 2200Zulu with what aircraft you would like to fly. Caveat: To those who are brand new to lock-on, I will need to schedule a checkflight with you to ensure you have basic skills such as IFF. If you do not pass the checkflight then I will need you to practice and reapply for the next mission.
