Pretty amazing job of getting that plane down.

I agree, total BS. Who could even imagine the Former Soviet Union would ever invade and enslave other countries, slaughtering its inhabitants ? Crushing any hope for independance and Democracy. Total Hollywood job. :music_whistling:

Not getting very good reviews. You have to wonder if there will ever be another top notch WW-2 sim again.:(

The pics remind me of Eve, which I tried out once. The graphics are so pretty I spent a week just zipping about at light speed. But the whole storyline behind the game was just to strange and convoluted. That and there is so much to learn and very little support. Lol, I remember when Pong first came out when I was in High School. I guess a guy my age would rather sit in a Spit, a Sopwith Camel, or an M1 tank then popping thru worm holes 100,000 years from now. Those futuristic universes sure seem popular to an awful lot of gamers nowadays tho.

Terrific photo history of Hungary's former air glory. I enjoyed it much, as any Cold War warrior would. Thank you.

I didnt exactly see any conflict it was involved in, tho a pretty video non-the-less. Ive personally always been a fan of the French fighter industry, most of all the Mirage series. Im just fond of their lines. And at a time of global economic crisis and reduced warplane puchases how lucky we all were to get such a splendid little, cant lose, reality air show in Libya to woo perspective INTL buyers of fighters and Jabos. Even the Swedes are there with their Gripens.

Ah forgive me. I knew better but the thing was just sticking in my craw. Apologies for breaking the rules.

I remember hearing the same about Saddam. Westerners just dont understand factional tribal war. Whatever happens I'll never understand what were doing there. We only import 3% of our oil from Libya. Europe gets 85% of Libyan oil sold, most of all Italy and France. As well as having the biggest investments in Libyan oil infrastructure. We already account for 75% of NATO's defense budget. The Euro members are planning to slash their defense budgets even more in coming years, "not that most of them are spending a dime on Libya anyway let alone fighting." All Mr. Q has to do is survive. Eventually Americans and Brits will wake up and figure they are suckers for financing this expensive and illegal war and that will be it.

Im wondering if its AI A-10s or actual player flown Hogs. If I remember right that wasnt a multiplayer clip but a single player scenerio. EA has been pretty close Lipped about aircraft in the game and as far as I have seen only F-18s, a MIG-29, and several rotaries have been established so far. I hope the A-10 is included however.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I'd love a awsome pit someday.

The Chinese are notorious tech theives. What they cant steal they "borrow" from countries we sell to. Be that as it may sealing tech and building an infrustructure that can output something as sophisticated as an F-22 are two different things. To build a stealth fighter nowadays is really no big secret. But to provide the software, the avionics, dependable engines...ect ? That something quite different.

I liked all of it, frankly. I have a kid whose very good at piano. It was a gift we started him with at 4yo cause neither my wife nor I was ever introduced to music as kids. I always told him his music was something nobody could ever take away or he could ever lose. You gotta have a dream in this life. If not then what was the point ?

Im just wondering but I install my games into a separate C/games folder and not directly into Programs. I had assumed since there is no compatability settings for either 32 or 64 bit the program by default ran at 64 bit. However i do wonder about the slow loading times on such a fast machine. Am I running 64 bit by default ? Thank you.

Im having a ball with this sim. And I never had an interest in WW-l flight. But its so pure. Rise Of Flight is a winner. I just bought that huge Brit Bomber and Love droning around in it. Between ROF and A-10c I am set for a long time. Both Lovely programs.

Well Ive heard to many good things to NOT! buy it so I bought it yesterday. The Iron cross edition. I was thinking of adding a few airplanes while they are on sale can anyone give advice ? I'll be honest. If theres a hotrod I can add to my hangar then I want it. And maybe a bomber. I havnt even played it yet cause i spent all last night downloading it and installing it. It really looks fun tho.

They really arent that large a part of the game. You have to crew them first of all, assuming you can get one to begin with. You can fly ithem alone but you are pretty much limited to rockets alone. THEN your pretty much flying against other helicopters and are lucky to get much time against ground targets, which is what combat rotaries are supposed to be for. So it all ends up with them being a fairly small part of the game. Personally I dont bother with them. Sounds pretty much what I said so I dont know what "point" Im missing.

Well I'm kinda new so maybe I can help you as I'm also in the same boat "so to speak". I recommend you do "something A-10c" everyday. Even if its only leave manual print outs next to the crapper and reading a page every day. Or, even better, actually fly and train a little every day. Its kind of overwhelming diving into all this. And here I was thinking I was a fairly experienced flight simmer. The truth is however I really knew nothing about sophisticated sims like this, other then knowing how to actually fly and land the thing. I was able to do that the first day. But to operate the entire system ? All the systems ? Thats a different story. I'm not worried tho, in all truth. I have found that the pleasure of this sim is in the learning and the training. Before I bought it I even posted here that I didn't want to go thru a 6 min start up process, only to eventually find out that I actually enjoy the 6 min start up process. Its new. Its fun. Just enjoy the ride. BTW remember that with some X52 profiles the actual mapping is done with button numbers in the games .Lua files and not in the Saitek SST software. For instance in Jacks profile you'll only see a slider and the mini-mouse stick mapped. However each and every button on the X-52 has a number attached, you can see most in the control panel when you open it from your task bar. Even the Hat directions have numbers attached. Its those numbers that are mapped to controls when you Load the .Lua file that also unzips with the SST file.

I wouldnt get to excited until we see the final product. If the Jets are well done, modeled well and accuratly, then all to the good. However I get the feeling they will be more of an afterthought then a serious sim fighter. Sort of like Helicopters are now in BC2. Fly and throw away choppers tht you fly and fight with a few mouse strokes and clicks. I was never able to get the game to see my X-52 and the work around makes flying with a stick jerky and not worth the effort. I hope Im wrong but I have found not to expect to much from all the noise. There is the disaster that is Cliffs of Dover and Even BC2 has lost much of its shine for me, and thats probably the best of the current shooters. After flying a mission in A-10c its kind of painful to deal with the hokey gun ballistics of BC2. A-10c has raised the Bar for both flight and shoot combat games. If they took BF3 and moved it closer to an ARMA type sim, but retained the features that make BC2 such a good game too, then I'll be happy with it. A-10c has been a breath of fresh air for me in a flight genre that is clearly suffering of late.

New Video Card for my Asus P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard?
USAF77 replied to ErichVon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wonderful card. And so quiet. -
I have just purchased the TM warthog hotas
USAF77 replied to snak's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was just ogleing it yesterday in the B&H online catalog. I buy all my videomaker products from B&H. My long term plans include this, the Cougar pack MFDs, and in 6 mos to 1 year a 2nd GTX-580-SLI and two more monitors. I could have it all in two days cause they dont even want money for them, just a bunch of numbers from a plastic card. But I must be strong. I must be strong. Congrats on your new stick. It sure looks like a beaut. -
SFJackBauer's Saitek X-52 Profile
USAF77 replied to SFJackBauer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think the problem is you are confusing the Pro file, the one for Saitek SST, with the .Lua file, the one for DCS A-10c. The actual SST software is only mapped for a slider and a mini-stick. Everything else in jacks frofile is mapped in A-10s's Lua profile, that also unzipped with the Pro. All the buttons for your controllers can be seen by right clicking the little joystic icon for Saiteks control panel. Now when you press the buttons you see little lights light up for that button, "note the pinky switch is #6". Now go to the MFD tab of the panel and uncheck enable clutch mode, "this give you an extra button to use for mapping. Now open the sim, go to options/controls and hit the load profile button, find the .Lua file that came with the Pro and load Jacks .Lua profile for the X-52. Now you'll see all kinds of button numbers attached to sim control/keymaps. Thats how you fly the bird. Now you have extra controls you can map, most of all using the pinky switch #6 button as a modifier. But also all the hat directions have buttons assigned to them. To find them just look for controls set to hats and see the button number for each direction you press the hat. Ive made a hybrid of SST and Lua commands. For instance with the clutch button now freed for assignment I mapped in SST the center command for my trackIR. Hope this helps. Ive recently gone thru the same thing you are. -
Dont tell her. Its like when my wife buys my kid some gaming knickknack, and its always the same answer from both of them "Ive had it for awhiles". Most wives dont know what joystick were using, "at least for gameing".:joystick: And if she does ask, now try it out for practice, "Ive had it for awhiles".:D

Tutorial: Mark points and Weapons for starters.
USAF77 replied to Chrisakky's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Its in my favorites/training bin. Thank you. I cant say enough, as a noob, the importance of training material provided by experienced operators. You understand the pain of learning the system and often player training aids are better. They are always appreciated. -
No I dont wonder at all. Havnt for years.

DCS A-10C Easy Monitor Configurator
USAF77 replied to icemaker's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I must be doing something basically wrong. I can run SMC, and I can get the MFCDs and other screens to appear, but they just show a single frame and are not showing any real time data, or changing data. They are just a single generic frame. What I want is to move some of these panels to a second monitor I have to the right of my main one so I can access data quicker. Can anyone detail the start up process in noob language. Thank you.
