Was there ever a fix for this? I’ve got the same problem and the game is unplayable

Hi All, Apologies if this is considered spamming as this topic/question is deep in another post I made about a week ago but it’s driving me mad! Essentially, I bought an Odyssey a few days ago, installed WMR and SteamVR, fires up DCS only to notice that the left and right panels in the headset are misaligned. A few other people on this forum suggested adjusting the IPD and PD (which I have) but that hasn’t helped at all. Ive set the Odyssey’s IPD to its minimum (60mm I think) but as above, it seems like the right eye is higher/lower than the left (or vice versa). I also performed a brand new install of DCS which didn’t help and am on the latest Nvidia srivers Anyone got any ideas? I’m running a GTX 1080ti FYI. Should probably mention that using the Odyssey in either WMR or SteamVR Home is fine. It may also be worth noting that the DCS loading screen jitters when it first loads up but I don’t know if this is normal for SteamVR/WMR users Thanks!

Thanks, I’ll give the WMR a go but I’ve just installed DCS a’fresh on another SSD I had lying around and I get the same result. Makes me think it’s the headset..

Yup, I’ve done all this. It’s strange though as it just seems to be a problem with DCS. There’s no alignment/IPD issues in SteamVR or WMR etc.

Yea, that doesn't help. Think I'm going to return the Odyssey as I simply cannot use it. Thank for your help anyway

I'm running the non-steam version of DCS and I turned off the 'Launch SteamVR when application starts' but I still am seeing double. Weirdly enough, if I rotate the Odyssey clockwise a little when its on my face, the picture becomes clearer ( at least the centre portion anyway)

Thanks both, that definitely sorted it! However, I've now got double vision/overlay when attempting to run DCS. SteamVR home and WMR are fine however. Ideas?

Thanks. I tired that but DCS just launches in normal full screen monitor mode, despite the VR option still being ticked under settings.

So I’ve just spent the last 4 hours trying to get the Odyssey to work. I’ve installed a PCIE USB3 cars in my pc as the motherbaord’s USB ports weren’t compatible. I’ve set everything up via WMR and installed steamVR only to be told that steamVR can’t start when I try and launch it. I can use the headset in WMR (can walk around the Windows VR Home) but whatever I do, I can’t launch SteamVR. I’ve tried uninstallling, reinstalling and nothing works. Anyone got any ideas? This is so frustrating. Thanks!

As with previous cards, surely the drivers will only get better/more efficient as the weeks/months progress resulting in greater FPS?

Ok, so I think I’ve finally understood pixel density but I’m struggling to understand how that relates to performance, specially when comparing the Rift vs. the Odyssey. Let’s say that I’m currently able to run around 35-45fps with a PD of 2.0 on my Rift. Due to the Odyssey’s higher default resolution, I’ve calculated that I’m able to get the same resolution on the Odyssey by setting the PD to 1.5. Question is, how would this impact performance and how would this actually look since the Odyssey has physically more pixels but the resolution is ‘technically’ the same? I’m guessing FPS would stay the same but I should see an improvement in clearity/resolution despite the total number of pixels being rendered on both headsets is the same? Cheers

Awesome, thanks trigen, that’s what I wanted to know. How was the setup? I only ask as the Rift failed to register the sensors on a dedicated USB PCIE board I bought; ended up using the Mobo usb slots

But how? I've mapped the trigger to a button on my HOTAS stick but it won't appear in the Rift when I press the button. Does it only appear in the Rift mirror on the monitor?

CaptainX, how is the Odyssey? I’ve head multiple reports of people both not liking it and others claiming it’s ‘better’ than the Rift Also, how are people measuring FPS when using the Rift/VR? Fraps?

Hi All, After a 5 year hiatus, I've returned to the world of DCS and have jumped straight in at the deep end. I'm running a i7 3930k OC'd to 4.2Ghz, 16GB RAM and a recently purchased 1080ti to replace the GTX680 that was top of the range back when the PC was built. Long story short, I bought an Oculus Rift to go along with the 1080ti and I honestly can say the immersion is amazing, I really doubt I'll ever be going back to using a screen for DCS. However, after trappin' the F-18 on an LG 34" Ultrawide which I've been running with a native resolution of 3440x1440, I'm a little dissappointed by the resolution (or lack thereof) of the Rift. I know the Ti is outputting effectively two monitors when using the Rift but for me, the lack of clarity is a small but nagging issue. I've been thinking about trading in my Rift for a Samsung Odyssey (I've heard Waggs uses one) as the resolution is a little better. I'm currently running a PD of 1.6 but the question is, if I switch to the Odyssey, will it be any clearer? Thanks!

Yea, we're playing over the internet but want to keep it private (not on the same LAN, apologizes, should of made it more clear). I'll check to make sure that port forwarding is enabled on our routers. EtherealN, assuming that PF has been enabled, should I just create a new game and give him my external IP address? or do we still how to use one of the servers?

A friend of mine recently bought DCS A-10C and we want to how a little fly around together, maybe even some shooting fun. In order to do this, do I simply create a new server and give him the IP address (external) to connect to? Or is there over things that I need to do? Please help, I'm lost! :(

Hey guys, Was just flying some sorties the other day and wondered why I cant see any of the tracer rounds from the Avenger cannon. Does anybody know why this is? Possibly due to no tracer rounds or something that may be fixed in a up and coming patch? Cheers
