  1. Thanks
  2. Hi All, Didn't really know where else to post this so please move if incorrect. Put simply, I'm a little unsure of how to set my signature. I've looked under my profile settings but as of yet, I can't find it. Any pointers? Cheers
  3. I already have a 500gb SSD that is pretty quick and with all maps installed plus 4-5 plane modules, there's plenty of room to spare I think you're probably right, I can get a 32gb kit for around £120 so I may look at doing that to be honest. The thought of getting a new shinny build together is pretty exciting though, that and having DCS on an NVME drive that should hopefully speed things up a little?
  4. Hi All, After clearing out my parents house a month or so ago due to them moving, I cam across my old gaming PC that I built back in 2012. It had: Intel 3930K (OC'd to 4.7Ghz) Asus Rampage IV Extreme (Battlefield 3 Edition) Corsair HX1050 PSU GTX680 Corsair 125GB SSD Corsair 16GB 1600Mhz RAM For the hell of it, I thought I'd download DCS just to see what the performance was like; needless to say, it wasn't great given the low graphical settings I had to use but considering I'm running a LG 34" Ultrawide at 3440x1440 I was pretty impressed. Anyway, long story short I always wanted to try DCS in VR so I decided to upgrade a few components to make it possible. I bought a Rift, Zotac 1080ti Mini and a Samsung 500GB SSD. With a slight overclock on the 1080ti and the aforementioned OC on the CPU, I'm able to sustain some pretty good frame rates during VR (PD: 2, most settings on High etc). My question is, is it worth upgrading to the 9900K (when I manage to find it in stock) along with a new MoBo (currently thinking Asus Maximus XI Code), 32GB of 3600Mhz RAM and an NVME drive. Essentially, will spending around £1500-2000 on a new build result in a 'decent' gain in FPS performance? Thanks
  5. Where did you buy/import it from?
  6. I ordered the Odyssey (not the plus) to the UK from amazon.com about two weeks ago. It took about 5 days to get here as the customs fee had already been paid (Amazon estimates it for you and includes it in the price) Unfortunately for me, I had to return it to the US which cost £60 as I kept getting double vision. I'm probably going to order the Plus when it comes in stock on Amazon.com and hope this one fairs better for me
  7. Hi All, Since I recently discovered the immersion factor of using a Oculus Rift with DCS, I've found using a mouse somewhat detracting from the overall experience (I've already got a TM Warthog as well as a pair of TM Cougar MFDs). To put it simply, are there any guides out there that detail how to build a 'simple' button box? I'm after 2-6 on/off push buttons (for general use), a couple of rotary knobs (for flood lights, instrument panel lights etc) and a various number of on/off toggle switches (for Master Arm, refueling prob extend/retract etc; may have to use on/off/on switches here though). I've come across Leo Bodnar's website where a USB BBI-32 button box interface is listed but are there any guides out there for actually adding the above controls? Once I'm able to get this working, I plan on on adding a housing to make it pretty/tacticool. Maybe there other interface boxes/websites out there that people use apart from Leo's? Would appreciate any tips/links to pre-existing guides Thanks!
  8. As I mentioned in my first post, I briefly tried the Odyssey before I sent it back but before I did I gave it a quick test in DCS. My hope was to play around with SteamVR enough to somehow cause the double vision issue I was getting to disappear. Long story short, I wasn’t able to but it did lead me to one question: WTH are with will the different settings in SteamVR under the Develper tab? MS, reprojection, etc With the oculus it was relatively straight forward, ASW is either off or on (of maybe at some setting in between). I did play around with some of these settings but largely they caused a lot of jitters and overall wasn’t as smooth as the Oculus
  9. What is MS, just another form of ASW?
  10. Does SteamVR not have ASW of sorts (which I thought the HTC Vive uses)?
  11. With the resolution being roughly the same on both devices (even though PD is different), is the text not any clearer on the Vive Pro? One would imagine it would since there's physically more pixels to look at? I think you're right but I live in the UK. It was hard enough getting the Odyssey here from Amazon and having to send it back is making it even worse. Surely with the Pimax I'd have to source base stations from somewhere? I was thinking of selling the Vive Pro after I got the 5k+
  12. I'm sure this has been debated a few times but I'm yet to come across some reviews/comments on this forum (if anyone is aware of a thread, please just post it) for the Vive Pro. Frooglesim has a video in which he speaks very highly of which I've seen however. Long story short, I had to return my Rift today to Amazon as the left headphone stopped working. As some people may notice from other threads I've started, I recently tried to give the Samsung Odyssey a go but kept getting eye misalignment issues so I've returned that as well. The question really boils down to this: is the Vive Pro that much clearer than the Oculus and is it overall that much better as Frooglesim says? The reason I ask is that since I returned the Rift, I'm thinking of putting the cash towards the Vive Pro System. Also, I plan on getting a Pimax 5k+ and since I'll need to buy base stations for that (and maybe controllers), I see the purchase something of a 'future proofing' scenario. I should also mention that I have no patience and don't want to wait until some vague time early next year when Pimax starts shipping pre-orders for the payment they're taking today. Thanks!
  13. TBH, I think this has tipped me over the edge and made me decide to buy one. What I would say is try the shader mod if you're not already doing so. I tried it with my 1080ti and my framerates jumped. VR with the Oculus is a lot smoother now (ie dp set to 2.0, most settings on high and getting 45FPS at Nevada). The mod is literally a life saver
  14. Was there ever a solution for this issue? I'm getting the same behaviour also!
  15. FYI the original Odyssey is now crazy cheap... https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/collections/VRandMixedrealityheadsets?icid=MRVRcat_Nav2_WMRheadsets_09162018
  16. So I decided to load up DCS and just see if it makes a difference if I make it into the cockpit and interestingly enough, whenever I move my head forwrads or backwards to look at instruments etc, the whole screen moves. There's no forward/backward motion along the Z axis. I also noticed that I can't look over my shoulder. Rotational and just generally looking around is fine but not moving forwards/backwards. I wonder if they're related? I've tested it in other games and I can't move my head forward in any of them.
  17. Was there ever a fix for this? I’ve got the same problem and the game is unplayable
  18. Hi All, Apologies if this is considered spamming as this topic/question is deep in another post I made about a week ago but it’s driving me mad! Essentially, I bought an Odyssey a few days ago, installed WMR and SteamVR, fires up DCS only to notice that the left and right panels in the headset are misaligned. A few other people on this forum suggested adjusting the IPD and PD (which I have) but that hasn’t helped at all. Ive set the Odyssey’s IPD to its minimum (60mm I think) but as above, it seems like the right eye is higher/lower than the left (or vice versa). I also performed a brand new install of DCS which didn’t help and am on the latest Nvidia srivers Anyone got any ideas? I’m running a GTX 1080ti FYI. Should probably mention that using the Odyssey in either WMR or SteamVR Home is fine. It may also be worth noting that the DCS loading screen jitters when it first loads up but I don’t know if this is normal for SteamVR/WMR users Thanks!
  19. Always on? How do you turn it off? I've been searching for a while but can't seem to figure out how to do it
  20. Thanks, I’ll give the WMR a go but I’ve just installed DCS a’fresh on another SSD I had lying around and I get the same result. Makes me think it’s the headset..
  21. Yup, I’ve done all this. It’s strange though as it just seems to be a problem with DCS. There’s no alignment/IPD issues in SteamVR or WMR etc.
  22. Yea, that doesn't help. Think I'm going to return the Odyssey as I simply cannot use it. Thank for your help anyway
  23. Thanks, I'll give that a go. Where is this PDI setting?
  24. I'm running the non-steam version of DCS and I turned off the 'Launch SteamVR when application starts' but I still am seeing double. Weirdly enough, if I rotate the Odyssey clockwise a little when its on my face, the picture becomes clearer ( at least the centre portion anyway)
  25. Thanks both, that definitely sorted it! However, I've now got double vision/overlay when attempting to run DCS. SteamVR home and WMR are fine however. Ideas?
