Works for me. Thanks for the link Frazer.

I couldn't record it for some reason with wave editor. Oh well. I did notice that the thumping sound is whenever there was radio chatter. I'm not sure if that's the way it was meant to be. I've only noticed it in Altitude mission so far though.
-
Hi Grodin. The thing is it only happens on that mission and no other mission. I'll record it and post.
-
Vince, can you be a bit more specific? Why is 5KB bad? Why does anything above 4KB need to "be watched"?
-
I've been telling my wingman to go recon and he updates me of enemy locations which then displays on the ABRIS. Isn't this what you mean? I'm confused because you say you don't mean that. LOL.
-
My default profile is 5KB also. Is it really odd that it's bigger than 4KB? I don't seem to have any framerate issues due to TIR.

Hello, I get a periodic thumping noise in the "Altitude" mission. I am not sure if I'm the only one getting this? My system: Core 2 Duo 8800GTX SB X-Fi Gamer Extreme 2 GIG Corsair WD SATA HD ASUS P5-N32-E SLI MB

Thank you Rattler for trying to help :)
-
Hi Rattler, both files are from the official ED website. They are found here: http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=135&scr=products&lang=en I'm clicking on the link for - Patch ver.1.12b for LockOn Gold released in USA only and for CD installed english language** version of LockOn 1.1: Flaming Cliffs purchased through our E-shop and NaturalPoint When you go there, there are links to Russian ftp and US FTP and when you download the files from each ftp, the checksums don't match. CRC/MD5 Checksum should be the same regardless of where you download it. Any corruption in the file and the checksums will not be identical.
-
If the checksum is incorrect, then the file is corrupt. Because I see two different checksums for the same file from two different download locations, I am certain one of them is bad. I want to avoid any problems so that is why I'm asking for the checksum. Anyway, I hope someone can verify the checksum for me.
-
Thanks for catching that! I meant I have the US CD version purchased from Natural Point. I still need the checksum values to chose between my two downloads.

Hello, I posted this in "general" forum but I don't think I'm going to get an answer there so I'm posting it here in the Help Desk forum. I have the US CD version of the simulation purchased from Natural Point. However, when I download the patch from the Russian ftp site and US ftp site, the checksum for CRC/MD5 are different. Can someone confirm which file is the "good" file? Thanks. Filename: LO_Flaming_Cliffs_Patch_1.12b_EngCD_Addon&Gold-US.exe Patch downloaded from Russian FTP site: CRC : C5AAE001 MD5 : 6072930665621917832EFC77055B2D52 Patch downloaded from US FTP site: CRC : 1FB1CF94 MD5 : 082DB323197C9DEE68911882DC8FE82F

The point is that I don't want to install the bad file and mess something up, especially when I spent hours setting up my controls and configs. ED used to put the checksum next to their downloads but I don't see them there anymore. Also, if you read my post, you'll see this: "I have the downloaded US version of the simulation" so your 3rd sentence is irrelevant to me. I've downloaded LO_Flaming_Cliffs_Patch_1.12b_EngCD_Addon&Gold-US.exe which is for the downloaded version of the game. However, as I've stated, the checksums are different between the file download from Russian FTP and the one downloaded from US FTP which means one of the files are bad. Get the point now?

Mutt, use a download manager. A good free one is GetRight http://www.getright.com/

A lot of people think some program "broke their computer" but in reality, the problem was usually there before the game was ever installed. A prime example is when the Hard Disk has bad sectors that have never been used before....then along comes a large program install utilizing those bad sectors....and BAM your computer acts funny after you installed that program so you blame that program. VV, I really think you probably had the problem before you installed this game and just didn't realize it because that "broken part" of your computer hasn't been used until now. My theory is that you had a dying hard disk to begin with.

Can ED please release the Russian radio communications and Russian Betty for the English version of DCS? As far as I can see, there is no way to enable Russian spoken language in the game in US versions. Ideally, I'd like to have everything in Russian and have english subtitles. LOFC had an option for "Russian Betty". Can we please have the same for DCS? Thank You.

With Miocrosoft FF joystick, does the trim go to neutral when trim reset is pressed in Instant Action? I have a Logitech FF and I have a problem with missions that start in the air. I've posted this in other threads but here is the description on how to reproduce: -Start Instant Action -hit ctrl-enter to bring up "controls indicator" (you'll notice forward trim is already set) -hit reset trim (you'll notice trim does not go to neutral (ie, where the two axes cross) now....do the same thing on a cold start mission -start any cold start mission -hit ctrl-enter to bring up "controls indicator" (you'll notice trim is neutral) -take off and trim forward -hit reset trim (you'll notice trim resets to neutral) So, my conclusion is that there is a trim bug at least with my logitech FF joystick in missions you start from the air. To work around this problem, I had to disable forcefeedback in Producer.cfg.

I'm such a brave pilot hee hee. Got a medal for Courage Order followed by a Medal of Courage. What's the difference? No matter, I'm braver than the rest of you LOL.
-
and don't forget to turn on master arm :)
-
LOL. I think it's just a simple bug ED overlooked. Hopefully, they'll fix it in the patch. I've reported in the bugs section.......

disable Force Feedback entirely, otherwise, trim and trim reset won't work properly on missions where you start from the air (cold start is ok). To see the problem with force feedback joysticks, hit ctrl-enter after starting Instant Action mission. Hit trimmer reset and notice that the cyclic does not go to neutral (where twol lines cross). After disabling force feedback in producer.cfg file, the problem is gone and trimming and hovering is a breeze. I was beating my head against the wall until I found this out. Regards,
-
If you never hit trim again after trim reset, it will keep it off for good. However, a real aircraft does have trim capability. In a Kamov-50, there is no such thing as trim reset but I think they put it in there because joysticks don't simulate the real cyclic stick properly. In real life, after trimming, the stick will remain in that position but joysticks have a centering spring which doesn't allow for this to be simulated properly. Force feedback joysticks do simulate it a bit better but there is a trim bug with force feedback joysticks currently in missions you start in air instead of cold start..

to turn off trim, hit the LeftCtrl-T
