WORKAROUND FOUND. Hovering and Trimming is now a BREEZE! This is definately a bug with FF joysticks and I found plenty of threads on it for Flaming Cliffs. It looks like with Force Feedback enabled, reset trim does not go to neutral for BS in Instant Action. The workaround is the following: The Fix\Work Around: Disable Force Feedback in the Producer.cfg file. Find it here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config What to do: Change the TRUE flag to FALSE

I set the waypoint 1 speed to 0 km/h and it sort of works but there is still a problem. With this change, the helicopter is hovering when I start Instant Action and ctrl-enter shows the trim in neutral position. However, as soon as I hit clear trim, the marker ends up forward of neutral position. So for some reason, in Instant Action, the neutral position is not centerer around where the two lines cross but a bit forward of it. Thanks for your help ZaltysZ. At least you helped me confirm that this seems to be a bug with Instant Action with certain joysticks (perhaps forcefeedback joystics as you said). I hope Wag and ED Team can take a look at this. I still believe this must be the reason many people are reporting trim and hover problems. Thanks.

will try it. Thanks!

I was thinking, is there a way to edit the instant action mission so that it starts at neutral trim instead of forward flight trim? That would fix the problem I think but I don't know how to use the editor to do this.

in instant action, it does reset but doesn't reset to neutral. If it's a joystick problem, why doesn't it happen on cold start missions? In cold start missions, the reset resets it to neutral. I hope ED can comment on this. It looks like a bug with instant action with certain joysticks? I'm using a Wingman Strikeforce 3D Force Feedback. I bet this is the reason so many folks in this forum are reporting trim and hover problems. Thanks ED for looking into this. Regards,

Ok I'm jealous. Enjoy!

If you're overclocking, try running everything at stock voltages, speeds, and settings.
-
I just confirmed it with ctrl-enter. In instant action, the cyclic DOES NOT return to neutral when hitting trimmer reset. However, in a cold-start mission, the cyclic goes to center when trimmer reset is pressed. So, is there some other setting that needs to be set before trimmer reset will work? I find it odd that trimmer reset does not work in instant action.

I think the only folks who can truly comment on realism would be the real Ka-50 pilots. However, the attention to detail on the BS is something I've never seen on other PC applications let alone other flight sims!

Yes, I really want to thank Matt and ED staff also. Very polished release and I'm glad you took your time to release it. I look forward to your future add-ons to DCS. In the meantime, thanks for simulation....it's easily the best I've ever played in my 20 years of flight simming. Happy Holidays and please get some rest and spend some time with your families! :)

Thakns ZaltyZ. I'll try the ctrl+enter. Yes, all AP are on and FD is off.
-
that's what I'm saying is not working for me in instant action. It only works in cold starts for some reason beyond my understanding.
-
In the cold start mission, I don't even have to trim to hover. If I slow down to near zero velocity then hit hover on, it automatically slows down to zero velocity for me and puts me in a perfect hover. In instant action, I am hitting trim reset at the start of the mission so the forward flight trim should have no bearing on the problem I see. So you're able to hover hold without issues in instant action?

How accurate is the evoforce? I'm looking for a FF stick that has the accuracy of a CH Products Fighterstick. I don't think it exists. The potentiometer on the Fighterstick is updated at a rate of 2 Mhz. I wish they made a FF stick with that kind of accuracy. :(

For some reason, I cannot hover properly on Instant Action. Once I set up the hover, I eventually start sliding forward, backward, or sideways and gain speed. However, when I play single mission from cold start, I can hover no problem. Is there a bug with hover in Instant action? Anyone successfully hover in instant action for long periods? System: Intel Dual Core - 3.2 Ghz Asus P5N32-E SLI Nvidia 8800 GTX Wingman - Strike Force 3D FF Track IR PRO 2 Gigs RAM Win XP Professional United States Version of DCS: BS Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard SB X-Fi Extreme Gamer All drivers latest. Thank you.

That would make sense. A patch around the same time the boxed version is released... Right now, I'm having too much fun learning this simulation to worry about a patch :)
-
Spyda, the manual says without FF joystick, you must always recenter the joystick after each trim which becomes a major hassle (and can cause inaccuracies). This is why I'm looking for a good FF joystick.
-
How I wish CH Products would build one. Bummer. Thanks for your responses folks.
-
They didn't care but you have an interesting point. I don't think those guys who work in the copying area are bright enough to think of such logistics.
-
Hello, is there such thing? Is there a force feedback joystick that is accurate as a CH Products Fighterstick? Thank you.
-
LOL. Staples wanted a dollar a page to print and bind the manuals. So instead, I printed all the manuals with my printer in highest settings and brought it to Staples so they can bind it for me. It will cost me 4 bucks for the 2 inch thick manual. Quite a savings eh?

Multicore for XP Users! Hello, I understand that setting affinity to multiple cores in Vista provides boosted framerates but not for XP. Could the developers please see if if you can "patch" the simulation so that us XP users can also get a framerate boost when setting affinity to multiple cores? Please, please, please? Thank you :)

hi Ronht, I did the same thing and after a few trial and errors figured out how to restore the default cockpit settings. Go to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View rename the snapviews.lua to some other name copy snapviewsdefault.lua to the same directory as snapviews.lua That should do it. Happy hunting.

Thank you EvilBivol. Your suggestion worked like a charm. Regards.
