I still want to hear from ED to see if they are hot on the trail of this issue....
-
Brit Radar Dude said: "Wouldn't this question be better put on a Nvidia forum as it is their problem (and not ED's) for releasing a borked set of drivers ?" Yes and no. It is more ED's problem because they will be the ones hurt if their game doesn't work with the latest driver set. Even if Nvidia's at fault, it's in ED's best interest to get this fixed. Don't get me wrong, I think ED has done an excellent job with the simulation but it would be great if ED can work with Nvidia as a developer to get these graphics issues closed. If ED doesn't act on this (I doubt Nvidia will since they have less to lose....if they support the big games like FEAR, BF2 blah blah, then they are ok), ED as well as us end users lose. Right now I cannot enjoy this simulation because of the corrupted cloud textures and would like this fixed. Is that too much to ask?

Hello. Anyone from ED developement team would like to comment on this issue? Is there any ETA for a fix? This problem happens witht the latest Nvidia drivers 81.95. I am using default driver settings and no over-clocking. Please let us know if there is anything ED is doing to address this issue. Thanks.

Curli Said: You are high seeting in lockon????? Test water seeting "medium"???? ----------------------------------------------- I would like this fixed without having to downgrade my graphics settings. The whole reason I bought a beefy graphics card is to run beefy graphics. Thanks for your suggestion though.

81.87 has the same problem for me. It's got the could texture corruption.
-
thanks for the responses. At least I know I'm not the only one with the issue. Anyway, the reason I the 66.93 is because it has the best performance for my other sim, Pacific Fighters. The 78xx series drivers cause stuttering in Pacific Fighters so that is the reason I use 66.93. Anyway, hope somebody fixes this issue.

I have a 6800GT running with an Asus MB with AMD64 3200+ CPU. With the latest Nvidia drivers (81.xx), I get texture corruptions in clouds under certain weather, time, cloud density settings. When I revert back to my trusty 66.93 drivers, I have no such problems. I really want to update my drivers becaues running on such old drivers (66.93) is affecting my other games. I can reproduce the texture corruption using the SU25T quick start mission. Just start the mission and fly level and look at the clouds, it happens about 99% of the time with the 81.xx drivers found in the Nvidia site. When I revert to 66.93, I have no problems (for months now). Attached is a screenshot.

This just happens when you try to play that mission (and few other missions). The way to get around the problem is to create a file called lockon.exe.local in the lockon directory. I hope you fixed this problem in 1.11 which I am downloading now.
-
"So when you are running lockon, there should only be one in use, and that should be in the system32 directory. (rename / remove the one in lockon dir)" Well, this is contrary to what the interim fix is. The problem is that there are in-game crashes due to FC using mscvrt.dll from windows/system(32) directory and not the local copy in your FC game directory. That is why you have to create lockon.exe.local so that the executable uses the local directory copy. With this work around, I do not get in-game crashes anymore.....however, I am just pointing out that I get the "The procedure entry point_resetstkoflw could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll" error when I double-click and launch FC after implementing this work-around.

Thanks bSr.L()Csta, although I felt like I was reading a paper written by Yoda, it was an interesting read. Thanks again! :)
-
Thanks. Does this go for guns too in BNY and BCE mode? Also, who/what is IIRC? Thanks again.
-
I fixed the in-game crashes by creating a lockon.exe.local file and forcing the game to use the local directory copy of mscvrt.dll. However now when I start the game, it gives me: "The procedure entry point_resetstkoflw could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll" If I click ok and continue, everything seems to be ok but does anyone know how to get rid of this error message at game start after applying the mscvrt.dll fix????? Thanks.

We shouldn't use weapons of mass destruction anyway unless it's last resort- LOL

Hello, in the SU25T training mission for guns and rockets, it says to lase the target for accuracy before firing rockets. This confused me as I know rockets don't have any guidance system. Why is the training mission instructing to lase the target for rockets? Any insight appreciated. Thanks.

First sight of Lock On 1.2: Black Shark !

As far as keymapping goes, I wonder how different the keys will be between the rotor craft and fixed wing crafts. I have my joystick buttons programmed exactly the way I want right now for the fixed wing. I'm wondering if the rotor craft will require different button mappings; this would cause all sorts of problem for me. The solution might be to have a different executable for flying the rotor craft and another executable for the fixed wing craft. This way, my joystick mappings can automatically be optimized for either the rotorcraft or the fixed wing. Since I'm not beta testing, I have no idea what to expect. I hope ED takes this into consideration. -
When I fly as German (quickstart Mig 29), Betty is in German but tower is in English. Should be all German.

"But doesnt change the fact that Lock On limits you on what aircrafts you can fly, compared to those that there are in the game" I don't mean to sound sarcastic but it's going to. Here it goes. It looks like you might be new to flight simulators. Modeling 7 modern combat jets with all it's avionics and weapon systems in a single flight sim is a first I've seen in 15 years of flight "simming". Name one other sim that does this. Even Janes or Microprose hasn't done this. You can't compare LOMAC with the likes of PF because WWII crafts are much simpler to simulate than these modern complex machines. Be grateful we have ED. We're even going to get a helicopter to play with! :) -
well, I found out this is related to msvcrt.dll bug.
-
No question I will buy 1.2. LOMAC is one of the finest modern combat flight sim I have flown, and I've flown them all. Keep 'em coming ED!
-
Thanks but what about the msvcrt.dll bug? I'm getting this crash on certain missions. Hope you will fix this in 1.11. Thanks again!

I get this problem too.
