  1. Hi Zahael, you mentioned that you have only 2 starforce activation attempts left - so backup it using the "Lock On v.1.1: Flaming Cliffs Activation Store Utility" which is available for download at http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?end_pos=135&scr=products&lang=en. You'll have your activation key stored and re-usable (untill major PC upgrade which requires new activation). Starforce really sucks... :pain:
  2. Sometimes you have to lower the weight of your aircraft, especially for landing (there is maximum safe landing weight defined for every aircraft) or if you have some trouble (e.g. emergency landing). If you fly an aircraft with a dump-and-burn option, you can do this task very quickly. If you don't (majority of planes doesn't have this option), you have to fly for a while to burn fuel and lower the weight this way. ...display pilots like this feature too, of course :)
  3. Good to know that. THX Grazehound
  4. Great news, I've almost finished reading the recent one :)
  5. That's because Rich's tutorials are all-inclusive!!! :icon_supe
  6. That's nice setup dude, every sq inch of the screen is always handy ;)
  7. Wait for the Operation Flashpoint 2 - battlefield there will be more integrated than anything you've seen before.
  8. I've experienced this only once so far - I shot down four Hornets but one of them hit me with a cannon round. After that #2 engine was in flames so I stoped it, but #1 was still working, but not stably. The engine thrust oscillated badly. I don't think it was an hardware issue though. I have no probs with my controllers at all.
  9. Of course it wasn't the Frog, it was MiG-29...
  10. Yea ED guys, keep on like this! :icon_supe
  11. ...with only one engine running and it's performance oscillating between 60% and max (it happened once to me, the engine performance oscillated between 60% and full afterburner randomly - that was pretty cool ;) )
  12. IMO setting this to 100 km should help when jumping between external views of different aircraft or ground objects which are far away from each other, but with 1 gig you should have it at max anyway...
  13. Hi Frost1e, Su-27 and MiG-29 haven't the same type of radar - the Su-27 uses the N-001 and the MiG has N-019 which is somewhat degraded in terms of range-detection capabilities (because of its smaller antenna diameter) - look at the page 115 of the Lomac manual for some additional info about Russian airborne radars.
  14. That's OK dude, we all learn as we go ;) BTW check this out: www.mytos.org and click Encyclopedia
  15. Yea, it's gonna be big - at least I hope ;)
  16. Hi Twitch, you're right that the target's altitude has certain impact on radar effectivenes and its tracking capabilities. But newer radars with advanced hardware supported with newer software are more succesfull in this than older ones. You can find some interesting information and comparison of american and russian radars' capabilities on pages 113-116 in the Lomac manual. There you'll also find answer to your question regarding radar's abilities to separate signals reflected from the target and those from the ground. Good hunting!
  17. Hi ROE Wedge, don't miss those nifty TekaTeka's tweaks and mods (you'll find the links with thumbnails in his signature). They're great!
  18. Yea, I'd like to have the Hornet flyable too, it would be great adition, especially for it's SEAD capability. It would be also very useful for MP missions. As for 1.12, I'm very satisfied with this patch, but I also reinstalled Lomac before applying it, because of some stuttering which became more and more annoying. Now I have clear instalation and the game works pretty smoothly. MP is also very stable. I've been flying on-line for few days only and to be honest, I didn't expect that, but it works without any problem. Good work ED guys! :icon_supe
  19. I think that Ironhand explains everything very clearly in his tutorials - which part don't you understand?
  20. Yes, the manual says this, but unfortunately it's not true :( . I found this post in the Ubisoft forum: "When the first red light (P) lights up on the fuel gauge, the external tank is empty. The 200 Km number is nothing in the sim, and in RL is a distance calculator, based on current speed and fuel flow, so it indicates how many KM you could go with your present fuel supply ( so you can select a backup airfield, or abort a mission, etc - very effective, and very useful in RL - too bad it's not implemented in the sim)." That's true, there is a 200 km displayed above the fuel quantity indicator, but actually it indicates nothing more that 200 km all the time... But may be the fuel flow gauges can be found somewhere lower on the panel, may be those vertical gauges which aren't described in the manual - I hope that someone will figure out what they indicate...
  21. AFAIK there is no fuel consumption gauge for russian planes in Lomac. The fuel quantity indicatior only indicates how much fuel is available and which tank is empty. It also shows the "fuel low" information, but not the rate of fuel consumption.
  22. OK, I think that the real-life effect is more important here than theoretical advantages/disadvantages. I use this setting and it works just fine, way better than original setting. May be it's only a side effect and the main is the one you explained to us - but who cares? It works... ;)
  23. This tweak (first 2 steps) is recommended for more than 512 MB of RAM, so yes - you can use it without problems. But to be honest, I upgraded from 1 Gig to 1,5 Gig (unfortunately my mobo has only 3 memory slots), because I wasn't satisfied with Lomac performance with 1 Gig. I would advise you to upgrade too, if you can. It's worth the money, especially now when RAM modules are so cheap. I don't know why you don't have the LargeSystemCache dword in your registry, it should be in the key I've mentioned above. Or you can create it on your own - it should be no prob. Again - this dword's setting is very important for improving system performance with more than 512 MB of RAM. Good luck. Maybe you'll find this link valuable: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/Windows2000/RegistryTips/Miscellaneous/Memorymanagementparameters.html
  24. You're right, it's usually not an issue, but who knows in Windows... :D
  25. It's possible to turn swap file off, but it can cause problems - some applications may not work properly. IMHO it's better to tweak a regedit.exe this way: Find the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Memory Management 1. Find the dword DisablePagingExecutive, double click it and set the value to 1 decimal - this allows Windows to keep data in memory instead of paging to harddrive. 2. Find the dword LargeSystemCache, double click it and set the value to 1 decimal - this allows Windows kernel to run in memory - improves system performance a lot. Reboot your PC for the changes to take effect. I use these settings with 1,5 Gig of RAM and it improved system performance significantly - especially in Lomac (actually Lomac is the only application that forced me to upgrade RAM to 1,5 Gig ) Finally I found one more tweak tip, but haven't tried it yet so don't know if it works - here it is: "Create a new dword and name it IOPageLockLimit - double click it and set the value in hex to 4000 if you have 128MB of RAM or set it to 10000 if you have 256MB or set it to 40000 if you have more than 512MB of RAM - this tweak will speed up your disckcache." I hope it will work for you. Jay
