  1. check on modman, it will show you exactly where the tutorial was installed
  2. The old addagio works good here, if it's not broken, don't fix it.
  3. It was a joke (hence the tongue smiley) ;) My normal PC is a 3500+ o/c'd to 2.6ghz w/7800GT and it runs it just fine :)
  4. FX57 @ 3.4ghz (phase) DFI Nf4 sli-dr 2GB Mushkin redline 2x 7800GTX 512MB oh and, yes lock on still runs like crap :p
  5. Ditto, Oh and what sticks do you guys use zaGURUinzaSKY for such precise flying?
  6. This really isnt possible, as each system is really unique. Even if you had the exact same hardware you would have differences, because there are many factors. That said, there are generic benchmarks that should give you an idea of what resolution does, etc. Oh and lockon is CPU bottlenecked, not GPU. Keep that i mind.
  7. Awesome work Ironhand, (havent seen it yet, but cant wait... I'm at work) I always wanted an A2A missile evasion tut, better yet, w/voiceover. thanks a lot for your efforts toward the community, they are really appreciated. :)
  8. Thanks a lot man. It was a great effort to put something like this together, great job.
  9. anyone know when we can expect the track? I was busy all day today and I couldnt make it to the show :( Hope someone got a track/video..
  10. Could you share your values once you tweak them? I have the same issue. thanks
  11. pretty good stuff man, one querstion though, on all three tracks, there is a constant "hiss" that can be heard in the background. Is this on purpose or something that got induced during recording? cool tracks none the less :)
  12. yup, its the drivers on the 8X.XX range that cause it. Im on a 6800Ultra Extreme and I get the same exact thing, going back to 77.xx fixes it, but breaks other games I have, so I just deal with it. :(
  13. Thanks for yet another great track Ironhand. You think that you might be able to do anotherone on a2a missile evation sometime in the future? (thats compatible with 1.11) or maybe what missile to use on what occasion and why it has advantages over the otherones? Either way, thanks for your efforts man :)
  14. The precission slider is good for stuff like mapping your "zoom" to it. But anything else can be mapped to it as well.
  15. @ Yellonet Its either HAll or whatever, I think Hall though I'll see if I find the link to the review where I saw it, but its definitely not POTS that wear out. @ Pilotasso : Not sure how to explain it, thats why I say definitely see if you can try it first hand. The best way I can think of describing it, is: the "tension delivery" that occurs when pulling the stick is pretty damn nice and smooth whatever position the stick is in, it's precise. To me it feels definitely smoother in the way it reacts to your movements, at least it feels that way to me. The spring setup in it its pretty intersting as its right in the center as opposed to having separate springs for pitch and yaw like other sticks EDIT: Forgot to add, the stick is light. specially when you are used to really pull on other sticks, there is much less tension, but it's something you get used to pretty fast. However, if you decide its too light for you, you can simply add some washer or somthing between the spring and stick for extra resistance, with no loss of control or finesse. I hear the best of the best is CH, but for me its something I dont want to spend the money on, when my cheaper solution is just great. And this stick is just that, great...
  16. Yeah, "TIR" is def on my list, but so is XBox360 and other stuff, tons of $$ and I'm going to end up broke :p The X52 is smoother than then X45, at least it feels that way (I never had much time with the X45, but for what I experienced its totally worth it.) Send a PM to "KILSEK" he can give you better feedback there, as he had the X45, but went out and got the X52 after I kept saying how great it was, and has not regreted it since. I remember him saying it was definitely smoother. also the other great thing over the X52 is that it uses HAL sensors, so they will not wear out like CH sticks and the like with potentiometers (you should see how much $$ these people pay to have thier CH sticks retrofited with HAL's) Anyway, let me know if you have any more questions :)
  17. I can vouch for the X52, I had mine for about a month and a half now, and its an awesome stick. Once you get it at home, it doesnt look as "spacey" as you'd think. ANother important note is that you can change the brighness of the leds/display with software or turn completely off if you wish. I was iffy a tad when I first saw the design, too many pretty blue lights, but after getting it, I couldn't be happier. The way they designed the single spring on the stick is awesome. I dont know why nobody thought of this before, but it gives you a smooth motion/resistence in any position it's in. (aka you can have it fully to the right and it will be the same exact pressure/feel as it if was only about 10%) it's pretty damn smooth, and once you configure it correctly its freaking awesome. I've tried the CH stuff at a friends house and it was pretty damn cool, but... I like my X52 better just because the ultra smoth feel of the stick, and it doesnt take a heck of a lot of strenght to move as others, so smooth. if you have a chance try 'em out and decide. I couldn't be happier with mine. Now I just need a new TIR and I'll be set.
  18. pretty cool stuff man, thanks :)
  19. Its definitely doable and not uber expensive either. The thing is, you DONT need 6X/8X AA and high resolutions, AF will be a notiseable improvement though. Just run your game @ 1600x1200 or above.
  20. I have the same mobo in one of my pc's, I can give you some tips if you are interested, I'll post some good links for you later (almost bed time now) for lock on the most important thing is the CPU clock speed, after thant comes the videocard. I say this because lockon is CPU limited, not videocard (for the most part) if you get a good heatsink you can overclock that venice to probably around 2.6 at least, those are some nice overclocking cores, but as always is luck of the draw with every chip you buy. good luck
  21. count me in for this. Sounds like an awesome idea, and I've seen some damn good pilots out there. PS: is someone recording a track of the main event for release at a later date? :)
  22. yes, its coming to the US, for X360. Not sure when though. as for it comparing to lock on, it will only be graphics wise as this is not really a sim. However I wish lock on had half as good explosion and smoke effects (volumetric smoke instead of toilet paper one) same for aircraft reflections/bumpmapping. the terrain engine seemed to havemore detail (biger buildings, higher percentage of them) so it has pros and cons. But it does look pretty and its a first gen title. just wait until the 2nd or 3rd gen titles on the new consoles and we'll be drooling. damn i with my X52 worked on 360
  23. I was flying on HL lastnight and saw something quite strange. I'll let the picture do the talking, but put special attention to the "height & speed" :D this isn't a common occurence, is it?
  24. ah damn, you guys have to quit teasing those of us that cant try right now :p Anyway, thanks for the mirror JaBo (downloaded at work to my USB thumbdrive so I'm ready to go home and install as soon as I get there) yeah, I know, it's sad haha
  25. awesome.... Why do I have to get to work and then find about this... Ah well a few hours until I can try. thanks for the hard work ED :)
