  1. OK guys, I just tried the ECM mission again and maybe I'm missing something but the jet did not automatically deploy chaff or flares.... Has this not been developed yet? Master arm on AG selected ECM set to "Xmit" Switch to the left of it set to "ON" On the EW screen the the ECM is set to Auto (yes I know.... It was set to manual in the video) So am I missing something?
  2. Hey guys, I tried to make this as basic and "no frills as possible" and actually had to muddle my way through the video but I think it adds to the drama and fun. Disclaimer: I still got shot down :megalol:
  3. I just set one up and it is amazing!!!! LOVE IT!
  4. Absolutely and I totally agree with you. Being able to master AAR or even accomplish it is grounds for great sense of pride but it does not mean anyone should be crapping on those that prefer to forego it for the sake of wanting to stay in the mission and enjoy the many other aspects of this sim/game. There's no harm in it and if it was an option I would wager that it would make this sim/game even more popular than it is now. And again, totally agree with you. Now this is where I'm trying to make my point. Many of the pro VR pilots here love the intricacies, realism and fine detail allotted to this sim/game. As a result what do people see on YouTube; Beautiful sunsets mired with amazing backdrops and cool footage of weapons deployment, ACM and big explosions. SO, what does this do to people (and especially noobs)? It gets them excited! It makes them WANT to buy the sim/game. It makes them WANT to be a part of the community and comments like "This is the real thing, go play Ace Combat if you don't like it." or my personal favorite, "THIS IS A SIM AS IN SIMULATION!!!! IT IS NOT A GAME DAMMIT AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Really now? Relax, take a breath and understand that all this does is create an elitist niche within the community that alienates itself from the gaming community and deteriorates the developer over the long run because a handful of hardcore sim pilots for such an amazing sim/game is NOT profitable. If DCS were to stick to this model and only cater to that demographic, not only would they be shooting themselves in the foot but they would also be forced to raise their prices across the board to remain profitable which, again, in the long run will sink the company. This is why Modern Air Combat is being released. DCS desperately needs to create something that is profitable and will bridge the gap between the hardcore sim pilots and the noobs who want to learn. That said, I know what some of the pricks here (not talking about anyone in particular) will say; "GO PLAY MAC AND STOP BOTHERING US!" again, toxic, accomplishes nothing and gives hardcore simmers a bad rep. I'm not trying to piss anyone off but I see this time and time again when newcomers ask a question in this forum. Come on guys, we should all be working together to help each other. This isn't a pissing contest. It's what gamers do to get away, have fun and learn so let's check our egos at the door. Is that a fair thing to ask? Sorry if I skewed the main topic of discussion guys. Not my intention at all
  5. Did you check the link I provided in my previous post?
  6. Maintain full burner > F2 > pan around so you can see the back of the jet and have a look.
  7. I agree but it’s not about being triggered. It’s about showing compassion for those who are not as good or who can’t be as dedicated as others. These skills are all perishable so it takes a lot of time and commitment to improve..... some of us (including me) have a great love for this sim but also have a lot of commitments outside of it so we can’t dedicate as much time as we’d like. As such, hopping in the jet and flying a mission without having to worry if it’s success is dependent on whether or not you’ll successfully tank up mid air takes a load off. Who cares how simmy it is as long as it puts a smile on your face.
  8. What he said plus this https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=231005
  9. That's pretty snobby of you or anyone else who feels like shitting on noobs and PRECISELY the reason why the community has trouble attracting and retaining new pilots. Show a little empathy and support FFS. I quite agree with the OP. There should be an advanced and basic section for all aspects of this game because, reality check, this here is NOT the real stuff.
  10. DONE!!!! Now go make me a sammich haha https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=231005
  11. AGM-88 HARM TEST TURTORIAL FOR DUMMIES If you know NOTHING about how to do any of this, check out these videos. They are NOT polished or scripted. They are bare bones but give you WAY more info than any other single video I've ever seen about the AGM-88 HARM for DCS F-18 Part 1 Setting up a working SAM site Part 2 Setting up the jet properly Part 3 How to test it all out. I’ll try to make more as I go along but this was done out of frustration for what’s out there on YouTube. NOTE** For those of you that just want the mission, here it is. harm test 2.miz
  12. Haha I knew I'd get that.... I don't know how, otherwise I would
  13. Someone REALLY needs to make some YouTube videos that JUST SAY click this, click this, click this. Set this to this and so on. No god damm explaination, no long winded script about stuff. Just the bottom line on what’s needed to make something work.
  14. OHHHHHH YEAH!!!! AWWWWWWRIGHT LOL
  15. Agreed, Collectively over the years I've dumped more than 10k into the proper running of this sim and the purchases made so, yeah..... Just leave it as is.
  16. Nope, not in a million years!.... DCS is such a complex sim that you need to offer it free to try and then make the DLC enticing enough to buy which it clearly is. The flight sim community is small and VERY scrutinous so it's best to leave it the way it is. Free with 2 planes so you can see how it runs on your system and then let the end user go from there.
  17. Ahhhh... OK, with all the videos floating around on youtube I thought it was out even though I clearly saw the word "Pre-purchase"..... Dammit, now I'm out 70 buck all because I watched Top Gun again and became nostalgic :joystick: Thanks guys.... Can't wait to try it out.
  18. Hey gang, Anyone have an issue with this? It's been 30 mins since I bought the Tomcat and I still don't see a prompt in DCS to download it. With all the other modulesand purchases it's literally taken seconds to process the transaction and download the DLC. Cheers and thanks
  19. Yeah but that's not gospel. Just because you don't see big throttle movements doesn't mean all pilots fly smoothly in. Also, this video is your definition of "no big throttle movements"? They look pretty big to me so for those of you that have the impression that landing case 1 is always smooth once you have everything set, you are mistaken. The bottom line here is that all these pilots do whatever they need to do to land the plane. They don't all demonstrate text book technique. They demonstrate *their* technique which also changes depending on the conditions. Fly the plane and don't sweat perfection until you're good enough to. This does raise a good question though; In training, are Naval Aviators trained on doing correct carrier landings before they are taught the pattern? I'd guess they're taught the carrier landings first so no matter what happens when practicing their pattern they can at least land the jet. This seems to make sense to me.
  20. I'm not a pro at case 1 by any stretch of the imagination. My orbits are too big and break turns, down wind leg.. All that stuff I suck at BUT, I did realize that when I set my flaps to full during my massively huge break turn it works better if I use more throttle than stick to keep things smooth as pie. Check all the carrier landing videos on YouTube and you'll see that the pilot does far more throttle work than he does stick work until he's on final and then he's manipulating everything as much as he needs to to catch that 3rd wire. In the end it's all about get the the jet on the deck safely and no matter what you read you need to figure out what works best for you.
  21. Je sais pas si vous avez verifier mais je pense que ce forum a une section francais. La majorite des membres entre cette section son anglophone.
  22. When I was flying falcon 4.0 I used “Roger Wilco” and it was a bare bones audio mic program and it worked flawlessly. I know times change with technology and the evolution of culture but REALLY???? Not everything has to be an all in one product.
  23. I know I’m gonna sound old and archaic but I LIKE teamspeak. It’s easier to use, less cluttered and more of a audio program than discord. Discord is Far too cluttered, hard to navigate and has more features than you can shake a stick at..... and I can shake a stick at a lot lol. All I’m saying is that when I want a mic program to communicate with my team I prefer JUST that. If I want to network and share pictures and stuff I’ll use Facebook and the plethora of moronic social media programs out there. I’m not a fan of screw drivers with a wine bottle openers,Bluetooth, wifi, socket set and key fob for your car, I just want a freikin screw driver.
  24. Nope, you understand me correctly... Thanks for the info, I kinda thought this is what I would need to do in order to take advantage of it. Kinda sad though, it would be nice to see it implemented automatically vs spending hours and hours creating a mission with all the eye candy. Oh well ;) Happy New Year everyone!
  25. That's fine but it doesn't answer my question which is; "it gives me the impression that I will see more ground assets on ANY map regardless of whether or not I'm flying a WW2 aircraft. Can someone either confirm this or tell me what I'm missing?"
