This week I'm due to get my new system (5800X / 32DDR 4 RAM / 1TB M.2 drive / EVGA 3090 Ultra) and am equally curious. But I have been using my current "old" i7 6700K system for creating videos ... I run at 4K resolution in all maps including Syria (even with my good old GTX 1080 8GB!!) to a level of reasonable performance - at medium to high settings, although it struggles a bit in MP in Syria. I think you'll get a big improvement in performance because the Instruction Per Clock (IPC) figure is higher for the 5800X than the 6700K. That said, the i7 6700K is still very capable. I recently bought an Elgato 4K60 S+ unit to take all loads off the system - compared it with streaming video at 4K from DCS using the Elgato and nVidia Share...full details in video description with benchmarks for each attempt. Interesting results. I'll do the same test with the new system once it arrives.

Hi - I received my Elgato 4k60 S+ game capture box and did a simple comparison video between it and game capture using nVidia Share (formerly Shadowplay). YouTube was still rendering the video to 4k60FPS at the time of posting, but it's interesting none-the-less. Full details of method and equipment in video description.

Hi, I'm looking at buying a high-quality recording system for my PC. Settled pretty much on the Elgato 4k60 S+ - the version which records at 4k60fps of course and to SD card (fast one needed clearly). https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elgato-Standalone-Recording-Zero-Lag-Passthrough/dp/B082N68RNS?ref_=ast_sto_dp My question to anyone who has this is will it record at 4k60 and output the image to the gaming monitor at 4k60 too? So far the passthrough resolutions appear to be lower, which is an issue, but would like to hear from anyone with this system. Many thanks.

Thanks guys - yes heard great things about Scan and they a re a bit cheaper than OCUK too ... re 5900x v 5600x ... I did reason with the extra 200MHz (every one counts I guess!) - funnily enough I was offered the 5800X immediately as it is available, but all idiots like me are jumping on the 5900x bandwagon. Yes, I did once build my system from scratch: an AMD Thunderbird Athlon 1.4GHz system waaay back in 2002. But this new one has a watercooler and I didn't want to F*** it up

...but the GFX card is permanently maxed out both in resources and memory ... so that seems to be the significant bottleneck in the system. The 3090 should be a nice upgrade with the 5900X!

Nice performance boost too from the O/C setting: Non-OC: O/C:

Reduced Terrain Textures in Syria from HIGH to LOW and it has helped a great deal...memory usage now down to 23GB from 29GB. Not a huge reduction in visual quality, noticeable but not massive.

Ah - I have turned on the overclockers.co.uk performance boost mode - so it should run now at 4.5GHz rather than 4.0GHz (CPU)

Tried the XMP setting and it wouldn’t boot afterwards, so back to what it was...

I think the increase to 32GB will be worth it as I'll use this machine as a video editor and the new beast will be for DCS etc....the new one will have 32GB too. Ahhh. ... will check BIOS now. BRB ...

Doing those ranks things now... And this is the MP server ... (top) I think the problems are that I am running at 4K with an 8GB GFX card.... VRAM is maxed in game.
