  1. My dad who flew jumbos for BA always moaned about the visuals in their simulators too - and also how they never really felt like the real thing. Yes, I'm hugely impressed and can't wait for the Vulkan / Multi-Core improvements this year to further boost playability. I might even try VR then!
  2. No words needed.

    Thankyou

A superb update which far exceeded the already huge expectations. Patch of the decade - this one and the last! Amazing visuals and excellent performance. Just hoping my favourite MP servers upgrade soon to feature the new clouds!
  4. ...but huge fun learning!
  5. What happened to Nick?
  6. Is there a way to export video at say 1440p 60fps to disk as a normal video, while still using VR at the bespoke resolutions. Is there something techically that prevents this from happening? Just to be clear, don't want to export what's generated by the headset (ie not the two images side-by-side), but a normal 1440p60 video in addition. I use nVidia Share BTW...
  7. I'm sure it's a fantastic visual experience but I really feel put off with VR with all the tweaking that seems to be needed. Is there any way to rent a G2 headset? I'd be happy to pay just to try it out.
  8. Beautifully done!
  9. I did a comparison video for FPS here - amazed how good ShadowPlay is:
  10. Sorry yes, meant recording rather than streaming (or rather streaming video to disk!) Run a speed check on your disk / update drivers / what are your settings in nVidia Share?
  11. What disk do you have? Your specs above should be ample to stream (I could stream 4k60fps with my 1080GTX even) without problem. Try to stream to an SSD / M.2 drive. My settings with new system are 4k 60FPS @ 80Mbps. to M.2 drive For the old system, 1440p 60fps @ 50Mbps ... zero issues to SSD drive.
  12. Fantastic news about the updates, and in particular about the optimisations too! I love this map as well, and have been flying it most frequently. As others have said, it has many different types of terrain and delivers an experience of what have been happening these past six years or so. Looking forward to this update - and also of course the addition of Cyprus to the theatre of operations.
  13. Thanks guys - but I mean compared to the AV-8B in-game, whose HUD looks a lot smoother to my eyes.
  14. Hi - coming from the Harrier to the Hornet, the HUD on the Hornet seems a little less smooth ... as if the update rate is 20 FPS v the equivalent of 30 or more for the Harrier. Is there a reason for this - am I missing a setting?
  15. Bubble system could help. Any object has a sphere of influence: inside which full fidelity is applied - outside of that it’s in a basic database with a lower resolution of AI fidelity.
  16. Same here - wanted a 5900X but went with the 5800X. In gaming benchmarks, no difference. And do you really need those 12 cores v 8 cores? Same memory controller too, so less bandwidth with 12.
  17. A plea please: even with a chunky GFX card the VRAM usage in Syria is getting bonkers. Can further optimisations be made? Ignore frame-rate, it’s capped for monitor purposes...
  18. @GrEaSeLiTeNiN CPU Stress Test (load / unload)
  19. MMm... another mission Into the Inferno ... this VRAM usage is now getting silly. @GrEaSeLiTeNiN Let me do a load test for you...
  20. Hi -what likelihood is there of an Iraq theatre of operations - within one campaign map taking in Syria and Persian Gulf. A proper recreation of the war would be great ... Afghanistan doesn't have quite the same appeal as there was no A-A "red" component. How hard would it be to combine the three - presumably loading elements on the fly would help keep memory requirements reasonable?
  21. Syria and high textures in the "Inferno" SP campaign is hugely demanding on VRAM. I cap my FPS to 60 for the monitor I am using and TrackIR goes a bit weird over 60fp. Running at 4k.
  22. Normally, VRAM is King but yes I could not live without nVidia Share anymore! 3080 with 10GB v 6800XT with 16GB ... tricky ...I'd err more towards nVidia ...
  23. How do you cap FPS in DCS?
  24. I'd save £130 and go for the 5800X. I too was tempted by the 5900X but are those extra four cores really needed? Also, those 12 cores are shared across the same internal CPU memory controller as that in the 5800X...so a tad less bandwidth if they are all running at full chat. But check out the gaming benchmarks too - there is nothing in it with 5900x v 5800x. Elsewhere, go for the Corsair M.2 drive ... 5k read/4k write...cheaper too. Otherwise all looks great!
