  1. No help, but the same has happened to my dad off and on all summer. Seems like any number of things can cause it. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  2. Nineline, Sarcasm isn't necessary, I take commercial contracts seriously, and I don't believe that a company that treats their customers the way Razbam does deserves to do business when national assets are in play. It's not a threat or a smear; I am encouraging people with connections to real world military VR training programs to let decision makers know how Razbam treats people -- I will be doing that with the guys I know who handle VR training and are always looking for options. I also believe that informed markets are necessary for healthy competition, and that spurs a better product for everyone. This isn't an extreme position, as I fear you interpret it to be by your response, but a position rooted in caring deeply about the best possible companies doing work for our training needs. Cheers Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks Frederf! Always good to hear from someone in the know. The M1 and M2 docs are pretty awesome for this stuff. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  4. We know that Razbam has some military contracts. That's probably where the real money is. Perhaps if we really care about quality work coming out of all flight sim developers, we should let razbam's reputation be known to friends and colleagues who work for the air forces of various countries. Talking to people who work in contracting, acquisitions, and training can probably go a long way towards steering contracts away from a company that doesn't create the best products, or the best customer relations -- and in the end that will better serve our countries and the entertainment community. 5. Would be nice to fold or hide the right arm rest so we can easier see the KY-58 panel hidden behind there. Of all the things to work on, this isn't by any means near critical, but it would be nice. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  6. Yeah, DTT will be awesome, "Viper 2, fox-3 two ship!" Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  7. Yes.... That could have been it. Might have been custom viper kneeboard. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  8. Hi, I had the same issue. It was related to some mod that I installed; I can't remember which one, but I didn't think it would have that effect... If I remember right, it appeared unrelated, but was in fact the cause. If I remember, I'll circle back to your post. Good luck. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  9. The A timer below your radar altimeter countdown to 0, and then the T timer begins. Active/Timeout. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  10. Agreed. I flew my old routing out of incirlik yesterday, and it was pretty bare in that part of the map. Very low detail. Would be nice to see higher res textured and terrain out towards the north and east, perhaps as far as tal afar. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  11. Saca 111, My trials are finding the same results, however, after enough times of going through this dance and the TGP and HUD TD box become totally disconnected, and OVRD nor CZ will fix it. That may also have to do with the fact that I was Winchester on bombs. I think you have developed the best operating technique until ED gives us a more reliable and consistent system to work with. 12. Guys, thanks to all who participated in this thread in meaningful ways, bringing in a competent understanding of how to read EM charts and thinking about the various BFM game plans suitable to the current WIP state of the sim's various flight models. It's been a good discussion, but I don't want this digressing into a discussion of what ED can or can't do and why. I think real world stuff should be kept real world. As a USAF and airline pilot, I appreciate DCS as a way to fly stuff I don't get to real world, and as a way to keep my hand-flying skills sharp... But I would never ever expect a commercial / entertainment sim to be at the same level as a training sim. It gets close, which is super cool... But we need to manage our expectations, and ask why we have the expectations we do. Again, this discussion was great on how to use EM charts, how ED could adjust things to give us more realism, and how to use gameplans and BFM to our advantage based on the data we currently have in sim. There are some sharp minds in this community. I think the discussion has probably run its course now. To the moderators, I'm the same guy who opened the thread (Big Tatanka and Skyblazer1 are the same guy -- I have an app on my phone for forums, and can't figure out how to merge it with my desktop). Thanks for your patience as we hashed this stuff out. Cheers, Dances Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  13. It doesn't seem to change anything currently, but I'm glad the pages are there... Hopefully they are working on it. Ideally we will at some point be able to change the network time and get on a different net with our flight, thus being able to do some red air work from within a blue jet for training. 14. Figaro, thanks for doing that comparative work, that is awesome. Really appreciate everyone's thought process on this. I'm also glad to see a real world viper guy on here mention the difficulty of using certain gameplans because of Gloc limitations. Here's hoping we get some real feedback from ED on this upcoming patch. I hope the mature and thoughtful nature of this thread has been helpful to the software engineers. Press! 15. Right on Rick. Right now, clone v clone would not be survivable in the viper. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  16. Really cool to see a mature discussion on this stuff guys. It's much appreciated. Going back to the viper v hornet fight, Deadpool, I don't do any gun only BFM stuff. I take all valid fox-2 shots (we fly with invulnerability on for training), and then call TERMINATE when one guy does land gun shots, the fight is stalemated on the floor, or we hit bingo. Firing the fox-2 gives us practice with switchology offensively, and with IRMD on defense. Running away isn't really an option once anchored, because you then open yourself up to a missile WEZ. Same reason BFM isn't flown at speeds above 450 knots, your turn circle gets soooo big, you risk the missile WEZ. So, now that we know the hornet is capable of more EM than it should be, we should just treat it like a more maneuverable fighter. In the current viper 3-3 there are gameplans for fighting more maneuverable aircraft. It isn't necessarily survivable if they see what you are up to.... But that's part of the enemy getting a vote. I think most DCS pilots would fall for the gameplan though (in my experience). So...... To defeat hornets in BFM, think to yourself.... How can I fly my jet to get a higher turn rate than my opponent (who has a higher turn rate than I do in a level turn)? Press! Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  17. Those are depressing numbers in relation to hornet performance. We just need to fly a good jet and survive long enough for our wingmen to save us. That, or only fly against hornets with 2 bags, lol. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  18. Sounds like Viper bros should not let viper pilots fight the hornet alone. ACM for the win, "2 press, viper 1 fox-2" Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  19. Right....people do stuff that would leave them total sitting ducks to an unseen and unknown hostile supporting bandit, which you always have to assume is out there. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  20. In the viper, doing a viper v hornet fight, you also have to be ready for the hornet to break into you durring your repo, triggering a scissors.... If you don't know how to use your thrust to exit the scissors, you end up falling to the hornet. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  21. I think the hornet lends itself to success in BFM for people who don't have much BFM training. The ability to point the nose at low speed is huge; and it is easy to do. In a viper, you are more maneuverable, but you have to fly the jet by the numbers to the control zone, and not pull the bandit to the HUD until you have attack cues, including a speed advantage (rule of 3s). I've been doing a lot of viper v viper fighting in DCS lately, I'd love to set up perch and butterfly sets against a hornet pilot to see what can be learned. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  22. "unrealistic g effects" is a bit relative. If I pulled 5 GS smoothly right now IRL, I'd probably pass out. To get a true sense of the flight model, fly with G effects turned off in sim. I'm sure it's something being looked at globally. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  23. I disagree with this.... Viper in DCS flown per the 3-3 is a sweet BFM machine. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  24. Look up control zone BFM. The v65th has some great BFM tutorial videos on YouTube as well. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  25. I suspect ED has shared some code from the hornet to the viper in this area, thus the issues in the viper. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
