I like flying the eagle when I dont want to worry about locking my targets. For everything else theres the flanker. sooooo 5% eagle 95% flanker for me.

yea would have to agree ....... in conclusion we wouldnt sell weapons to Iran for two very important undeniable reasons. 1.) F14 is a weapon system , outdated or not, it must be recognized as such so ... dont sell to Note to self: dont sell to Iran. 2.) Iran is a potential enemy so Note to Self: Help Iran as little as possible. As far as the F14 vs F18E/F scenarios well I think we have to accept some givens to squash this arguement. Given that the aircraft are in tip top condition to fly. This is a pilots game of chess where the better man wins. Everything else is left up to life ... and in the game of life as far as war is conscerned Murphy's Law: anything that can happen will happen so everything from mechanical failure to pilot error can and will plague the success of the F18 vs F14. And the mighty Tex has spoken .... thats my word can you dig it? .....:D :joystick:

DPS, I have always enjoyed your approach to movie making. I have learned a great deal from movie makers such as yourself just by watching .... needless to say I enjoyed this film. keep up the great work. I wouldnt listen to the ban comment ....... it was uncalled for.

rgr, i hate forums too for that same reason. Sorry for the misunderstanding but some people post in a topic for no other reason but to pick a fight. I believe you called it "contentious" . I couldnt have found a better word for it. True that is what this thread has become but those who seriously come to add to the discussion would not say things like: case and point for contention. I think his post speaks for itself. Is he really here to discuss the topic at hand? No , clearly not his motive is as clear as his statement. But in the mist of a myriad of post that all seem off topic , including yours (striker), its easy to take at least one the wrong way .... again apologies.

Thats true I just wanted to take a different approach to this topic. Instead of stating that the Tomcat is so dangerous, why not state that its old and out dated and see what people can come up with. You know get people thinking about how much of a weapon "The Cat" really was in our arsenal. It has been discussed in these forums before "who would win the F18 versus the F14" but we all sort of brushed that topic off as non-realistic. Well open your eyes people its very realistic now. If we kick this thing off with the Iranians you dont have to guess what jet will be a threat to us. Its a different song to sing when ,the loaded gun we condemned as outdated and a relic of the past, is pointed in our direction. I just figured maybe some people would see things just a bit different after bringing this topic to the surface in a new light. And in this case yes, the pinto just might win. something to think about:joystick:

Nothing wrong with discussing why there is a real debate going on over "the cats" spare parts. At least I dont think so. And its what I prefer to talk about. Nobody twisted anyones arm to come in this thread and post your 2 cents worth. You gave it willingly so if this thread is old to you , Dead to you, or just plain too painful for you to read then simply click on one of the many other interesting threads at your disposal. The funny thing is if this is the jerry springer show then why do you tune in everyday at the same time and same channel. And if this is a dead horse then put your stick away and go find a new one to beat. My thread topic may be a circus act to you but its what I would like to talk about. I could care less about discussing another F15 skin, or fighter ops game that features yet another aircraft we have seen simulated over and over in the flightsim community. So do you see me in the F15 discussion pushing my ideas on everyone, claiming that the F15 is over simulated and boring to me? Do you see me telling people in their threads that their thread is a dead horse? If I have it has been a very rare occasion. I know I probably shouldnt have posted this but hey you give your oppinion and I give mine no harm no foul. And no punches pulled these days I see.:thumbup:

Yea Id have to agree with you. But man we sure could use the money. I mean its not like we dont have anything here in our arsenal that couldnt shoot them down right? Why cant we just sell them nuts and bolts like the article said? I mean even if that helped them fly their aging tomcats with no phoenix capabilities our aircraft are far more superior to the cat. And besides we are not at war with Iran. The only real problem I see with selling this country the "nuts and bolts" is that they found sensitive materials being included in the shipments of these so called "nuts and bolts". But even in the long run that really doesnt threaten the safety of our pilots .... the tomcat is an outdated weapon system in comparison to jets like the F22. (some how that just doesnt sound right):noexpression:

The cat is retired and in the bone yard. But to some countries like Iran the spoils of aircraft parts are very valueble. So the question has risen among DOD should the U.S. sell the surplus of parts? I am an avionics technician on T38s. Yes we could be considered ground crew but we do maint. as well. That is Ellington Field in Houston Texas.

nah, im just not sophisticated enough to change the date in the camera. Truth be told I think the battery went out that keeps the internal date current with the photo that you take. So it keeps reverting back to the default date of 1-1-97. Hehe cool to hear that im not the only one with that problem. never i picture all of ya having faces only a mother could love anyway ... lol. jk. No its nice to match a face with the posts in here that way your not just a name and avatar. Thats cool stuff I didnt know you worked those type radars. That must have been a blast. Did you do a lot of traveling?

Well this is my job. I thought I would finally pry the digital camera from my wifes clutches and bring it to work .... hehe jk. But I did bring my camera to work and uploaded a few pics of Ellington Field and some of the aircraft that I see everyday.
