  1. Lost patience troubleshooting. Reinstalled DCS. 2 hours of downloading and all seems ok now.
  2. Same crash. Tried deleting entire Saved Games\DCS. New log dcs Habu2.log
  3. Log attached. Did repair, Initiated DCS on main install and on a saved backup. Program hangs at Terrain Preload: 100, Stage 38 on both Caucasus and PG maps. Win 11 updated. RTX 4090, AMD 7800X, 64 GB DDR5. dcs Habu.log
  4. If you mean Kadena, I was there 7 months.
  5. https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated/wiki BsB supports only fixed FR, not dynamic like Aero.
  6. For flight simmers a good DCS VR experience is unequaled. Settings for DCS VR will be dictated by your GPU, CPU, RAM and personal quality tolerance. You obviously need to adjust your seat position more forward. Have fun playing with settings to find YOUR sweet spot. Guess you got a good gasket and IPD fit.
  7. Tx. Nope. Hawaii, Japan, Calif, VA
  8. I have been using BsB HMD for couple of weeks and am very happy with the device. I use Quadviews fixed foviated rendering and 75 FPS setting. Excellent performance with DCS on a high-end PC: brightness, colors, sharpness, view smoothness with 2 base stations. Good clarity over about 50% of total FOV. Cost with required peripherals is admittedly pretty pricey, and a number of users, including yours truly, have needed to exchange headsets for corrected face gaskets and IPD, which is fixed on each device. The BsB support is great, however, and after getting the right fit the device is a marvel.
  9. I am using SFVR with SteamVR and the FSVR data panel is attached to my Valve controller until the controller powers off, at which time the panel relocates to the bottom left of my VR FOV. Can anyone assist me with instructions on how to change the data panel position in my VR FOV?
  10. 2.9.3.51704 Still can not get XRNecksafer to work. Made sure XRNecksafer API layer is first listed API and ON in SteamVR settings, started VRNecksafer both before and after DCS is running. When I engage assigned centering button (tried several), the "Not centered in game" message remains displayed.
  11. Certainly a fact that the current state of VR tech requires compromise. Whatever floats your boat. Personally, I love the comparatively tiny form factor and great visuals in the sweet spot. YMMV
  12. Update: Since last posting a month ago regarding the BigScreen Beyond I have received headset replacement -3 mm from original IPD and thicker face gasket to address my eyelash contact with the lenses issue. All good. Encouraged, I took the plunge and performed a PC part upgrade to 7800 3DX, 64 GB RAM and RTX 4090. I am still performance tweaking, but am very happy with my BsB experience flying DCS. With pumped up DCS performance options to high settings, quad view fixed FR, and OXR am getting visuals that rival my 32 inch QHD monitor at a steady 75 FPS in single player with no stutters. Huge improvement over the G2. Will be flying MP soon and will be testing 90 FPS. I really notice no glare and sweet spot is large enough to satisfy me. And oc the tiny form factor is a major plus. Lots of complaints about the head strap, but I don't find it a major problem. In March BsB will be offering for purchase an improved head strap with earphones. Biggest issue people post about on Discord is getting the correct custom IPD headset. According to BsB, about 10% of headsets are returned for corrected IPD, since the headset has no IPD adjustment. BsB tho, is very lenient and accommodating in providing free replacements; but still tries one's patience. Definitely worth considering if one is looking for a new headset IMO. BsB, and its supporting equipment, is an expensive piece of gear, but once you get it right, it is really right.
  13. Right behind ya, Laz. I also think flight sims help mitigate cognitive decline.
  14. For non-WMR VR devices is it possible/advisable to launch DCS in OpenXR API with Open Composite instead of SteamVR?
  15. I have non-WMR headset running SteamVR/OpenXR. XRNeckSafer appears to crash DCS at the point of loading a mission, with only the XRNeckSafer API running.
  16. I have a BigScreen Beyond, non-WMR, device, win 11, RTX 3080, running SteamVR/OpenXR API. System was working nicely with DCS mt, but now crashes at the mission loading point where the "Waiting" messageappears. Log shows "2024-02-05 13:24:17.990 ERROR VISUALIZER (Main): OpenXR failure XrResult failure [XR_ERROR_RUNTIME_FAILURE]" Any ideas before I start reinstalling stuff? Never mind. Reinstalled Steam.
  17. Certainly many purchasers have problems with both the customized IPD and face gasket fitment of the Beyond, but their customer support appears aggressive in correcting such issues. I found that placing the headstrap rather high on the back of my head provided the best visuals and comfort.
  18. These are very first impressions after only a couple of hours use. Previous owner of Occulus and G2. I have not flown a long MP mission to performance-stress the Beyond yet, so I will be commenting on that scenario later. It lacks DFR, so I am interested to discover how the Beyond performs with my current PC (5800x and 3080-10MB) on the Grayflag server. The Bigscreen Beyond comes in a package the size of a shoebox and the device itself is smaller than most swim goggles. I had read this but was still astonished. Totally unfamiliar with lighthouses and knuckles controllers, so took some time futtsing with those and re-familiarizing myself with SteamVR. Still don't really know how to operate the knuckles fully, but they are irrelevant to DCS flight sim. Discovered, like many others, that my device IPD is a few mm too wide, so I have initiated a ticket to correct that issue. BsB will exchange the devices free of charge. My barber has remarked on my long eyelashes and indeed they contact the lenses. Tiny, inexpensive magnets from Amazon reportedly can fix this issue. The magnets are simply placed on the existing magnets that secure the gasket to the device. I was very impressed, despite the IPD issue, with screen brightness, vibrant colors, and clarity of the visuals. No problem whatsoever reading cockpit labels and such, and HUD symbology appeared very crisp. Perhaps because of my previous experience with G2, I did not find the sweet spot annoyingly small. As for reported glare, I did not even notice it in Hornet cockpit in daylight. Might be different in night missions. I am using the supplied strap and top strap and they seem comfortable enough. My custom manufactured face gasket seems to fit my head perfectly, but I do feel a bit of moisture where the gasket contacts my skin. Positioning the device high on my forehead provides best video clarity. I set the fan for 80% max rpm and as for fan noise . . . what fan?| We will likely not see the perfect VR headset for many years but the Beyond provides IMO one of the best visual experiences currently available. Thus far I am favorably impressed with this little headset. More later.
  19. My Bigscreen Beyond arrives Tuesday, and I will be testing it with DCS and file a report. My other VR devices include Occulus and G2. I have read no reviews of BsB yet from owners using it with flight sims and very few remarks about its performance in racing sims. From the reports I have read, user experience depends very highly on fit of the custom face gasket and accuracy of IPD measurement. Typically, most all the posts on the BsB official Discord relate to these 2 issues; but statistical analysis posted by BsB indicates that these factors affect only about 5% of shipped headsets. A few users have taken the trouble to post that their headsets fit them perfectly; and they are blown away by the visuals the BsB delivers. Two other issues reported are glare and small sweet spot, but these effectively diminish in actual VR program use. Users universally praise the BsB customer support to resolve issues. One should note that BsB does accept returns, but imposes a USD 200 restocking fee. The Bigscreen Beyond device is a costly investment, especially considering the requirement for Valve base stations and hand controllers. I look forward to providing the DCS community with an objective review.
  20. You can also directly edit all the views, including defaultVR, for all aircraft in the following file: Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua. Seat height is y_trans.
  21. Default views are stored in this file: Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua, which is created when you first alter and save custom snapviews. The SnapViews.lua file defines the snapviews and default views for each aircraft and can be edited directly.
  22. I can not get DCS WP Editor 1.3.3 to recognize that I have theWay installed. TheWay 2.4.1 installed in the default User/Appdata folder and it functions as expected. Uninstalled/reinstalled WPE twice, yet the initial settings window says theWay undetected. Detects DCS-BIOS no problem. Checked folder security and admin privileges with no success.
  23. You can permanently modify the default views, or any other, of any aircraft by editing this file: Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\Snapviews.lua
  24. I recommend checking out BigScreen Beyond, which is shipping to pre-orderers. That device has many attractive features, but also some disadvantages with regards to DCS; and I want to see a user performance review with DCS. Advantages include its comparatively tiny form factor, custom face gasket, tracking accuracy and latency, great mic, high native resolution and pancake lenses. Disadvantages include total cost (requires base stations for tracking), add-on audio, no eye tracking (or foviated rendering), some reported glare issues and delivery delay of few months for new orders. FOV is pretty good and It is a SteamVR device. You can find some reviews on YouTube.
