  1. You seem to forget that anyone can download DCS World for FREE, and already include a SU-25 version. If that is not enough carrot to make them interested, I don't think $24.99 would make much difference. No one is forcing anyone to pay anything. It's up to each and every one if they feel the entertainment they get from any module is worth the money they pay. Compare any module in DCS World with any AAA game title on the market today. Then compare how much you have payed per hour of entertainment for that title. Most single player games have a playtime of about 10 hours to complete it. In DCS I have over 100 hours online, flying with friends. Then you can start adding the time with SP and messing about in the editor.
  2. They might get released around the same time, but it's not a part of the 1.2.4 patch. I doubt it, since it's not mentioned in the log. When this patch is out we can finally start looking forward to the announcement of their next module, maybe some screens etc :)
  3. Huey has nothing to do with the patch. Huey is a 3rd party module. And 3rd party said they would wait with the Huey until the 1.2.4 was released.
  4. Apache would have been awesome! But so far no one has given as much as a hint of doing it. My guess is that the Apache is one of the things that ED will do themselves or they have already done a military one and they are not allowed to make a civilian simulation of it. Should not be any lack of info out there. If you want some reading you can get a 1082 page big Technical and operator's manual for the AH-64D here: http://publicintelligence.net/us-army-apache-longbow-ah-64d-attack-helicopter-operators-manual/ Basically goes through everything from drag factor with different ammo, longbow radar use, radar symbols, modes, fire zones, +++++

  6. The biggest FPS killer in the game, not taking bugs into the account, is the number of objects. Not 3d models, but number of objects that 3d models are made up of. For example, a new model of a tank can be made up of 6 objects. A house maybe 6-15 objects. And then sometimes there are some old 3d models that are made up of 80+ objects. Those number of objects is taxing your cpu. The more objects, the more work for your cpu. Trees are made up of a large model that looks like multiple trees. But in reality only made up by less then 10 objects. So unless you are running the highest view distance, removing trees will have limited impact. Of course if you CPU is working 100%, removing trees will help. But in general they are not the big FPS killer. Have a look here to see how number of objects affect your CPU and FPS. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491
  7. Seems strange, as the trees are not the big FPS killers. What's your system specs?
  8. I would recommend build one yourself, or get someone to help you build it. Saves money, and you get a better computer in the end. Any computer parts you can/want to use from your old setup? Monitors, mouse, dvd, case etc? Give a quick roll of what I would go for: i7 3570k : Will give you a nice CPU, and you can overclock it for more performance, cpu power is very important for dcs 209$ at newegg Decent motherboard, Asus, Gigabyte, whatever, something that has a good reputation and known for quality. Motherboards start at rouhgly 120$ and upwards, there is also package deals where you get motherboard and cpu for less then 300$ like this one: i5 3570k + ASUS motherboard for 290$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1270852 Minmum 8Gb of ram for about 70$ A SSD for OS and DCS: 240 Gb Samsung 840 for about 190$ Now you have CPU, motherboard, SSD and RAM for 550$ You can get a nice Nvidia 660Ti in the 200-300$ range or a AMD 7870 or 7950 :) Depending if you need a new case, monitor+++
  9. How much are you looking at spending? Can't really give you much advice unless we know what limits you operate with :)
  10. Just curious. Whats your goal with removing all trees?
  11. AH-64D Apache Longbow, come to me baby!
  12. Depends on what CBU. I have only checked the object count on the CBU-87. It will not help on the 87, that's for sure.
  13. Automation Technician. Work offshore. Install, fix and faultsearch on our automation equipment. Everything from PLS, transmitters, mA loops, pneumatic/hydraulic logic circuits, valves, actuators++
  14. The cbu stutter is due to number of objects being put into the world when they impact. Put your plane to a remote location in the editor, like far far far north, where the map is only flat and there are no buildings, water etc. Hit ctrl+pause/break two times to get the FPS, object and triangulation counter up. Release a single cbu-87. Observe the object number as the bomb disperse and make impact. Your object number goes from ~100 to over 2000!! This brings your cpu to it's knees.
  15. Processors made out of graphene.... Welcome 100 GHz cpu's But it's a long way until we are there I think. http://www.eetimes.com/electronics-blogs/pop-blog/4370188/BYT-ON---World-s-first-graphene-based-processor--graphene-based-FPGAs-to-follow- http://news.softpedia.com/news/300-GHz-Chips-are-Now-Possible-Samsung-Shows-the-Graphene-Barristor-270420.shtml
  16. You might have to run TS as administrator. If not the TS will not pick your button on the HOTAS. I had a similar thing with mine. Simply right click your TS icon, choose run as administrator, and your set.
  17. If someone want to see if changing settings will take away the huge FPS drops, they could. But there is no need for us to start putting that into the posts until someone actually come up with a different results then what we are getting here atm. When someone can show a significant different result then what we are getting, then we can start picking his setup apart and examine his settings. Until then it's just waste of time.
  18. Did a small test. I tried with Rider1 files and the changes that Ebs came with. Ebs proposal: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1713395&postcount=81 Two first screenshots are default. These are with Rider1's smoke.cfg files And the last one here is with the changes to the lua files that Ebs posted early in the thread. Now, I have modified anything that can relate to smoke and fire in those files. I would need to do a more systematic approach to nail down exactly what change actually fixed it. The fire or the smoke, or both. I'm leaving for work again and will not be able to do any testing for the next 2 weeks. One thing I found out is that this smoke issue with the wrecks is a GPU thing, it has nothing to do with the CPU. As I zoomed out the FPS went up same did the CPU load. As I zoomed in the FPS went down, same did the CPU load. The GPU was working 100% all the time since I had vsync off. This tells me that as the closer I get the more load is on the GPU and the CPU has to reduce it's work since the GPU is to heavily utilized and can't receive more from the CPU. Added my mission file that is modified from ENO's original file. Moved the units out in some remote location. PS: Again, for people making test scenarios. Put the units in a place where you know nothing else will interfere or compete for resources from your GPU, RAM or CPU. I haven't looked at the other missions, but from what I can see from the screenshots there are buildings, trees, roads etc in the background. This WILL affect your results when you are looking at performance. All that's need is one guy tilting the camera the wrong way or tilting it to much and you have the whole horizon in the background render as well. And the result will not match with someone else who is running maybe a lower distance setting, moving the camera in a sharper angle+++ Testsmokeremote.miz
  19. The reason for FPS dips around airfields, certain areas and some citys, are due to poorly optimized 3d models. Each 3d model consists of multiple objects. When the number of objects increase in a scenery it put's a big load on your CPU. If you use the modelviewer you can check each 3d model for it's number of objects and triangles. Now, this is the strange part. If you look at some buildings like a huge terminal it only has 2 objects. If you look at a small crane, it has over 40!! Same with some units, a m1a2 has 4 or so objects. While a buk radar has over 30. The m1a2 looks a lot better then the buk, but the buk radar is what kills the cpu if you put to many of them on the map. I made a thread about the objects issues a while back ago. Have a read if your interested: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491
  20. I'm currently out of town, and will not be able to do any tests until Monday.
  21. Have good news and bad news. Good news first. This is before the modified files. 38 FPS Here is after, with modified smoke files. 139 FPS The bad news is that I saw no change in ENO's test mission with the fuel trucks. Just a small tip to Rider1 or anyone else making test missions. Make them as far away from any other ingame "stuff". When I mean "stuff", I mean airfields, trees, roads, water, buildings you name it. You want the area to be as sterile as possible. This so you are 99% that nothing else is affecting your results. I'm posting your mission again Rider1, where I have moved the units to a remote location :) Hope you don't mind. shoot the tanker2.miz
  22. Cluster bombs and fps drop is not due to gpu. It's a cpu issue. When you drop 1 cbu-87 that single bomb will generate over 2000 objects for the cpu to deal with. I don't know why I got a fps drop with amd card and not the nvidia with the rockets. It could be driver related or something. But I don't care. I want performance without the need to do voodoo tricks om my card to make it perform.
  23. http://vtacticalairgroup.net/content.php We have both us and euro people. Have a look :-)
  24. Yes No No Should not be an issue now.
  25. I have tested both nvidia and amd. For DCS I would go nvidia. Less then 2 weeks ago I bought a sapphire 7970 GHz edition. It gave me higher maximum fps, but a significant fps drop everytime my M 151 rockets made an impact in front of me. Took it out and put in my old 580 GTX. No such drop. Returned it and got myself a nvidia card. Great card. SLI also works much better then crossfire if you decide to go that route. I'm talking from experience as I used to run 580's in SLI before one card died on me.
