F-15C vs Su-27: Analysis and explaination video
TZeer replied to tjhowse's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Nice one :) -
What is your CPU clocked at? And what is the object count when you get these performance drops? To bring up object count hit ctrl+alt+pause/break 2 times. This will show FPS counter, but with a little extra info like objects, triangles etc.
-
It's not your GPU that is the problem here. Both of you look like having CPU issues. Quick test you can do. Open mission editor and place a plane far up north where there are no buildings, trees etc. Start it and check your FPS and object count. Then move your plane to an area you know you have bad performance. Check FPS and object count and report back your findings. Cheers

Your CPU should be fine. If you haven't done already, you can always overclock it if you know how to. But yeah, do what schkorpio said. Let us know how it goes.

Whats your config? Here is a few links. Some of the threads can be quite long, but it gives a good understanding of how DCS works, and what can give you a performance boost. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101083 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101459 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103578 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101186 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491

Looks like the airport is blue. But the aircraft is red. If the aircraft is US they should be blue.
-
I have done some tweaking in there, not that much though. Btw, sent you a PM.
-
I fail. Forgot to add the actual link to the source. Doh! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94515
-
Source? Not trying to be a douche or anything. But before claiming it has been promised, a source should be quoted to prevent speculation and discussion. Edit: Found it :) (now with link http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94515 ) I guess you just have to wait a little.

Do you have mirrors on by any chance? Or MSAA set to some insane number like 16 or something?

CPU to slow. Even my i7-3820@4,6 GHz struggle sometimes. My sweetspot is around 1000 objects, more then that and the CPU have to much to do, and will not be able to process much more. So the more object I get in the scene, less FPS I get. One closeup A-10C is about 100 objects. View of Novo harbor is over 2000. View of Tbilisi 600 objects. etc
-
Water effect is kinda iffy. In general it doesn't affect FPS that much. But I have experienced unexplainable FPS drop with the water effect at high, which has been greatly reduced by taking the water effect down to low.
-
If you are unable to reach 60 FPS, and don't have the FPS locked at 30, you will get tearing.
-
Agree 100% Once you try 60 FPS, there is no way you can go back to 30. It looks like a slideshow in comparison.

I'm not a 3d artist or anything, but I have a question that has been bothering me for a long time. Why does the number of triangles and objects double when you look at them inside DCS World compared to what you see when you look at them in EDM Viewer? Thanks :)

Wich is better in the long run

Just for info, I'm running 2560x1440 resolution with MSAA x4. All settings at high. And my card is using about 2,7GB of my VRAM. -
I only did this test one single time before. But did a new one to test the water etc. Looks like we are right and wrong at the same time - It does not happen over water - It does happen when there are explosions - The object count skyrockets to over 7000!! during the explosions.... This over water, somewhere between 300 and 400 objects. This is over land and with explosions. Everything is similar until the explosions starts. As soon as the first impact comes, the object count skyrockets and chokes your CPU.
-
Cause it's not related to the graphics during explosion. When you drop a CBU 87, it breaks up in hundreds of small 3d models. 3d models are built up by objects. When a CBU 87 breaks up, there are suddenly 2000+ more objects in the world that has to be calculated. 1x A-10C is roughly 100 objects. So you can compare it to 20 A-10C appearing in your view instantly. And it doesn't matter what GPU you are running, as the number of objects are handled by the CPU.

Saw it now :) my bad. But it can be misinterpreted by people who don't have english as their first language etc. Or they simply interpret it the way their mind want it to be. In this case, intergrated into FC3, and released separately. And with all the assumptions going on on these forums we all know how that will go :p
-
Nevermind, found it, and your info is wrong. No wonder people go apeshit when rumors like this is spread around, and it turns out it's wrong, and they just find out right before release.
-
Source for that? Missed my radar.
-
Not an issue. Simply restrict the type of planes in the mission. And if you are in a dogfight, there will be no difference between the Su27 AFM and the DCS Su27, since they are both rocking the same AFM.... Unless the DCS version have some sort of an helmet mounted sight to help aim their heat seekers.
-
People who expect a free upgrade of their FC3 series for their F-15/SU-27 AFM should calm down a little and not get their hopes up. 1: F-15/SU-27 modules will be standalone products. 2: Due to this, they will most likely have nothing to do with FC3. 3: Reason for this is to separate it from the Ubisoft and all the issues around that. The need for lock on to install FC3. Copyrights+++ Imo this is a good thing. As it makes the modules no longer attached to Ubisoft in any way or form.

Why should I buy win 7, my win 95 works just fine! Why can't I just get the upgrade for free. I already payed for the first version! RABBLE RABBLE Why should I have to pay for my new OS when I already payed for the earlier version? etc etc etc. :D
