Lol. Not to be rude towards the op, but this gave me good laugh. Also completely forgot that I already could zoom (and even have mapped this on stick for easy access) when I started reading this thread. Doh :music_whistling:

Hey Tulsa-10. I think we have a bit different cultures when it comes to women staying at home etc, as here in Norway basically everybody works or take education in adult life, also women. Personally I'm proud to be living with a woman which does something that is meaningful to her, in her case taking a more correct education at adult age (with the exception of a few B's she has gotten straight A's in rather complex biology courses and other nature sciences). Actually I think, while somewhat comfortable, that women who stay at home sometimes develop a lack of self esteem to some extent as they really only do stuff that "everybody" could do and lack an "expertise". This in turn could create some frustration, outbursts and need for control, although it usually doesnt show on the person. Now, remember I'm talking generally and not specifically about you guys, so correct me if I'm wrong. Regarding the kid, while you're spot on in terms of the kid getting sick and whatnot I believe that kids in kindergarten could benefit from having to adjust to a lot of other kids and that they learn to communicate and relate to each other. Then again, if I had a kid I would probably also want to spend as much time as possible with it while it was small (in other words, while it still looked up to me. hehe). Anyways, hope you dont take offence. Just airing some thoughts here, and like stated it comes very much down to differences in culture.

Thats a very good point you got right there. I work in mental health care and usually deal with people all day long. When i get home I sometimes nearly want to hold my ears and say "na na na na na" when she starts talking, not because I'm not fond of her but because I generally am so sick of hearing people talking. The worst part about it is that I not seldom feel this way when she has been waiting and were looking forward to me getting home. This has been a source of some bad consciense throughout the later years. :music_whistling: Then again she fortunately understands this, and if I'm honest straight away and explain I need some time alone she's usually understanding. She does have work and other stuff to do during most days so its not like she's at home alone all day long though. Regards, Male support group member #42

Post your rudder pedals curve adjustement
ChrisIhao replied to hreich's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hmm. I actually had the same experience with the CH pedals the other day, this time in Il-2. After having used the pedals for years I now realize that I should really change my curvature as its a bit difficult to fine-adjust when aiming manually. Modern fighter jets generally have less drift when using rudders due to the nature of physics, but at the same time having a too strong output around the center makes it difficult to manually aim rockets and gunfire even in these situations. Cheers for bringing this up. I'll open up the CH Control Manager when I come back home and add two or three notches of negative curvature for the pedal axis. -
Count me in. Very interested. In fact I'm almost sort of waiting for it to dwelve deeper into the fantastic world of the A-10C. Been reading the Black Shark one whenever I have a chance, and just ordered the Flaming Cliffs 2 as I were so pleased with the former. I actually printed out the whole Falcon 4: AF manual but had to put it in two big folders to get room. Prefer the smaller format :) Oh. But but... Surely you must be the only one (hint hint) ;)

Hehe. Sounds like we've been through a lot of the same motions lately then. I think thats the way to go btw. We often hear "well, you have to make compromises" but in all honesty I dont believe in eternal life and I want to enjoy life to its fullest while I can. My destiny on this earth is NOT to be a robot programmed by someone else. I have also told her to go find someone else if she wants something else, as I'm more or less "set" like you say it, and that usually makes her chill out a bit. Anyhow, cheers mate. Hope it works out fine between you.

CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!

If it will be a F-15 it will be the F-15E Strike Eagle, not C methinks. -
Hehe. I dont know how some of you guys even have time to learn a sim like A-10c under the conditions you describe. I'm so "fortunate" as to having no kids at 32, dont know if I ever will, and I can push it really really far before my woman snaps. It CAN happen mind you, and when it does I too feel like I am cheating on her from her responses. Simply put, merely sitting beside her doing nothing gives me the creeps as I frankly have hundreds of things to do for fun. I completely recognize the "get a hobby" aspect and I must have told her that at least 50 times. Oh, and the crying kills me. I more often than not react with controlled anger when she cries, simply due to the fact that she cries as a method of control, not because she's so darn sad (why suddenly stop 2 minutes afterwards then?). The trick here is that very few women actually keep an interest in you if you dont go do whatever guys like to do, and while at times intensly annoying you usually come out on top if you manage to stay firm and demand your rights. Thing is, I never "sold" my soul or body to my woman. I am still first and foremost an individual, a person who has decided to live with another individual throughout the last 10 years, but who has to retain who he is. To quote Mike Oldfield: "We are Islands but never too far, we are Islands". If I cant be who I am I will brittle, fade away and become a discontent shadow of my former self. Some kind of balance is obviously necessary though, but if the balance shifts too much away from who I am I will pack my things and go somewhere else (and build myself a pit in the middle of the living room :D). Cheers!

Well, its practical to almost be able to outrun an AIM-9 which only flies at a speed of 3 096 kmh ;)

I for one would like to see the Harrier to be honest. Never really played any Harrier sims through the years. It would be interesting to see how it feels to land vertically with friggin great flight model. Its weird how similar the Harrier is to the Su-25 if you look at it in profile though, almost like you have stretched out a Su-25 a bit. ;) If not F-15E or F/A-18E would be great as well. -
Joylocs in place and ready to go

Edit: Perhaps I misunderstood. Just in case I'm adding this part: I recommend using some velcro to position the controls as I found them a tad wobbly without. This was particularly true for the stick. Just customize the velcro pads to even out the surface. I guess the margins are very small, perhaps 1-2 mm, and while I would prefer the shelfs to be perfectly straight I actually think that using velcro would have been the right way to go anyway. Oh, and I had to customize the small metal bracket that goes under the table (for preventing damage to the table) by sawing off a few inches as a metal frame that hold the table itself got in the way. I like modifying stuff though :) Original post: Yeah, I think its just fine. I decided on putting both the throttle and stick pretty close to my seat (the stick closest) to avoid unnatural twisting of my wrist, something that is wise considering the thousands of corrections you have to make when flying the KA-50. The only small minus is that if you sit too close to the desk you will have trouble pulling fully back on the stick, and also generally while all the other directions is no hassle at all the backwards movement require me to hold the stick a tad differently than I did before. On the other hand other buttons, like the pinky and side button on the stick feels much more like second nature now due to the new grip. Obviously it takes time to adapt to a new setup but all in all I'm already very happy. PS: You'd be better off removing any potential arm rests on your office chair. I have a rather expensive, comfy one I found second hand but I've had to remove both the neck support (due to big headphones) and the arm rests for my usage. -

Thanks. And yup, thats no problem at all. Check here for a few pics and a review: http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/technology_188a.html. Its a pretty strong construction even if its lightweight. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/827/dsc00955hx.jpg/. It takes 12 kg's at least :) Yeah. I considered that and in no way am I going to be able to get a center mounted stick in my room. -

Hahaha. Good one. ;) Well, there are many things I like about the AOC, like the space underneath it, so I'm kind of getting to accept it as it is. I also had the chance to send it back but that itself cost quite a bit and is a hassle. I've decided that I'll get another touch the day I feel the need for that (those adjustable vesa arms will set me back more than a touch screen in itself). Anyhow, I'll certainly help you if I can. Are you running 1920x1200 on the main screen? Also, what setup do you want? This specific one? I'm using Gadrocs v0.2 for BS until he or another comes out with the new profiles: http://www.scsimulations.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=80. Cheers. PS: Had my first successful BS ramp start and short flight with landing last night. Man, that took some time :) -
Hey guys. Just wanted to share a few pics of my current setup. Got two joyloc brackets the other day and while expensive I would say they fit my multirole desktop space quite well. In case you havent heard of it, here is the site: http://www.joyloc.com/. If getting this I recommend using the included (or some third party) velcro to keep things really tight. Well, my setup isnt exactly a contender to the pits some of you crafty guys have built (just you wait a few years), but it sure beats having the sticks on the desk and living without a touchscreen. I love being able to relax my hands when playing and imho it helps quite a bit in terms of immersion. Got an AOC touchscreen on the left running Helios in Black Shark and A-10c and other sims as well. Kind of regret not getting a screen with a vesa slot on the back but at least I'm happy about the image quality and responsiveness of the AOC. Anyhow, here are a few pics: Thanks for keeping the sim niche alive guys. Cheers! Chris

I want to confirm this. Imho the nvg is the single most important thing to fix. I received a support ticket response that confirmed that this is a bug and that they "will try to fix this is the next patches". I also got pointed to a thread with a supposed temporary solution, but as you guys know there is none at the moment.

A F/A-18 module would be awesome. That said, I still probably need a year to learn the two already existing DCS's so I'm not in a hurry. Hehe.

Thanks. Yeah, fortunately nothing happened to anyone I know personally. Its just so over the top that you dont really relate to it on a day to day basis. I live just beside Oslo so its pretty close though. Oh, and EF2000! Man, did you wake up some memories with that one. Dont even remember what joystick I had at the time. Think it was a MS Wingman. Also pretty much messed around in that game, but DiD was a great software developer. Flying stealth missions at night in TFX, dropping laser guided bombs was a really satisfying experience. :D -
Thanks for your feedback some1! Good to know it works fine for you. And yeah, I have considered using that throttle for RoF at least, perhaps some of the planes in Il-2 as well, depending on how much back and forth mapping I want to mess around with :) The only problem with the ST quadrant is that it has 3 instead of 4 levers, basically spurring a purchase of another quadrant for those 4 engine planes (accidental? nah). Most of all I look forward to getting the two sticks for Black Shark though. Wont be getting the quadrant until next week as the inventory amount were not updated and they are empty right now  In terms of CH products, I dont know about the ch quad, but in terms of toyish feel I felt that to some extent with my stick and throttle at first. Now they feel just great (shaped to my hands) and keep on working like they should. I'm very picky about the internal parts of controllers, and this is where the CH's really shine. Just had to praise CH a bit

Pfft. Humble... Your "modesty" is unbecoming ;) Better than most setups out there to be honest. Hehe. Wish Nvidia cards had 3 monitor support without going SLI :P Is that middle screen one of those newer Dell touch screens that can fold down really low? I regretted not getting one of those as I would have been able to put it in the middle like you do here. -

Well, I were going to suggest a Corsair PSU, and I see that you're already in love with Corsair :) This one is good for instance: http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=623449. Perhaps go up one notch in power if your planning to crossfire at a later point. And yeah, if I were planning to run three monitors I would go for a really good gpu and not save a few dollars on that. Either that or crossfire two good but less powerful/expensive cards. Heck, I never even considered SLI'ing my oc'ed GTX580 until I realized the potential benefits in A-10c, and a potential extra screen to boot, much due to the desktop also functioning as an audio workstation. Now I just want to throw out everything else and get more power. Unfortunately my 580 is a triple decker :) State of the art flight sims really ARE in the front when it comes to pushing hardware, like it always has. No matter what you choose I'm sure you'll be happy about it. Good luck. -
