    Tars "not running"

Könnte 2 Firewalls geben - die Windows Firewall und dann müsste man eventuell auf einem NAT Router auch die Ports forwarden auf die interne IP des Rechners an dem der Kollege sitzt?
  2. It will be worth it. I have had the DK1 version for quite some time now and if you really want to use it for DCS, a higher specced DK2 would will be well worth the wait, I for one can't wait for it either, but I think I don't have a choice ;)
  3. Thanks for pointing me into the right direction with Youtube embedding, it works now :) And delidding is one of the easiest mods you can do to improve cooling, if you are even a half-decent craftsman, you shouldn't have a problem. I delidded mine with a razorblade and the whole mod took me maybe an hour, including cleaning up, putting the CPU back in etc. At first I was afraid I ruined it because it didn't boot, but then I loosened the screws of my waterblock a bit and it has been perfect ever since. I cannot recommend this enough, just be careful not to put electrically conductive paste over some contacts, that would fry something. If you keep double-checking everything, there is almost no way of getting this wrong. If you are worried about the CPU flying around, place something like a plastic bag over the the whole thing and tape the bag to the vice. It won't fly far that way...
  4. This razor delidding is actually very difficult and risky. There is an easier way to do it (which is badass by the way): There you have it, delidding like a boss. I have delidded my 3770K some time ago (with a razer though) and the temps dropped dramatically, I run it on 4,8-5GHz depending on the season and it hasn't crashed once. I used Coolaboratory Liquid Pro under the IHS and on top of the IHS I used Phobya HeatGrease. Tops out at 70-75 degrees under full load @4,8GHz with Hyperthreading active. Can easily go to 5GHz without HT (which is what I do for DCS). If you dare to do it, great rewards await. EDIT: Trying to fix the youtube embed, but to no avail, sorry for the mess. :(
  5. Wo wir grade bei den Gunners sind - gibts eigentlich schon eine Meldung wann man im MP mit mehreren Leuten in einem Huey hocken und die Gun übernehmen kann während ein anderer fliegt? :)
  6. Would it be possible to leave out voice degradation etc and just implement the functions necessary to require to be on the same frequency to talk to each other? I'd be more than content with that. I usually play MP and we also have CA users in our group, so TARS is currently a bit unusable for the group due to the CA players. Mumble would solve that elegantly.
  7. Oooooh, sign me up for these! If they are narrow enough for my pit, I will definitely get them. Your previous WWII style pedals are incredibly tempting already, but having the same mechanics built into modern fighter pedals would be my dream. Just keep us posted please!
  8. Well, projecting directly onto the retina has a few drawbacks. Like the projected image moving when you move your eyes, which will be pretty annoying in an augmented reality situation. Compensation for this phenomenon would be latency-free eye tracking, a feat nobody has accomplished yet completely, let alone in such a small form factor. It also does not cover your whole field of view. And nothing has been said about the resolution. Or long term health issues by having beams fired onto your retina directly. I'll wait for this tech to mature before passing judgement, but for the moment Oculus has nothing to worry about, especially with them already hinting at 4K resolutions (see recent interviews with Iribe and Carmack for details).
  9. The performance is impressive though. But given the current situation I don't see it happening with DCS anytime soon. And I also want to see what nVidia has up its sleeve for the upcoming Maxwell chipset in spring. Then we'll see where this leads...
  11. Not yet, but Palmer Luckey himself said that on the consumer model, adjustable IPD is a must. And adjusting for near- or farsightedness is already possible in the dev kit via exchangeable lenses.
  12. Do you run the latest version of Helios?
  13. Not yet. But I'd pay good money to Gadroc to continue Helios development.
  14. That would be hilarious - it would highlight the new console generation's lack of hardware potency like nothing else... Stereo 3D in 60fps with VSync is the bare minimum. There is no way they can deliver this with their most prominent titles given that said titles rarely exceed the 30fps mark rendered on a single screen. Without AA or VSync. And once again the glorious PC gaming masterrace will stand victorious. :music_whistling:
  15. For the drinking issue: you can't really call it a home cockpit if you don't have a Camelbak strapped to the back of your seat holding whatever beverage you prefer while flying online with friends! ;)
  16. I was also thinking about getting that Seiki 55 inch model, but ultimately I have a 1080p 47 inch mounted to my r3v pit. So until I also get 4k @60Hz, I cannot bring myself to switch. But I can really understand how you suffered from more tweaking than flying, having previously owned 3x 27" screens. The switch made me fly much more, but I certainly hope that there will be a Rift model available that is sufficient for DCS by the time a 50"+ display with 4K resolution and 60Hz input becomes actually affordable for average Joe.
  17. The Kinect for Windows is the thing from the older XBox 360, the XBox One has a newer and much more capable form of Kinect available which won't be available for Windows for quite some time.
  18. Sorry for the confusion - John is now full-time CTO at Oculus, previously he was only serving there part-time.
  19. During the weekend, news came out saying John Carmack has left id Software to work full time on the Oculus Rift. His second job is still at Armadillo Aerospace, but that doesn't seem to take up much of his time. Being the tinkerer he is, I think the final Rift will benefit a lot from his input.
  20. Helios hasn't been updated for quite some time while DCS was heavily patched. For example, since the last update, my Helios is quite laggy. But I can't figure out why you experience that HSI phenomenon, I haven't been able to replicate it.
  21. Nice one Wags! The IPD on that stereo view seems a bit high, I was trying to view it crosseyed, but it is somewhat painful. But definitely appreciate the effort, it is great to see how quickly you guys make progress on this!
  22. IPD = Inter - Pupillary Distance The distance of the display panel is not as much of a factor, you don't have to adjust for that, but you lose a bit of horizontal FOV if you move the panel away from the lenses. Eye defects can be corrected in some cases, but it often needs custom lenses for the particular eye, so you can't just make that a software tweak.
  23. 6DoF is a priority at Oculus as they said so repeatedly in the past. I can't imagine them releasing the Rift without it.
  24. Just read the news and damn am I excited! Thanks a bunch, Matt! :D
  25. There seems to be another prototype floating around: https://twitter.com/aarondeandavies/status/390056443170549760/photo/1 It looks slightly different to the HD prototype they showed at GamesCom.
