  1. The monitor angle has nothing to do with the side screen horizons warping down. It's some sort of visual anomaly/defect in the game. When the aircraft is level, the horizon on the two side screens warps down a bit. When I go into a turn, the horizon relative to the center screen warps way down and look's ridiculous. It is unplayable. I have none of these issues in either FS-X nor Rise of Flight, the horizon and view from the cockpit is level. There are no distortions or fish-eye effects. I put my 3x 30" monitors in portrait mode and tried BS at 4800x2560. There was no distortion and everything looked proper unlike in landscape mode. It's like at 7680x1600 BS's field of view craps out and everything goes haywire. Is there no field of view setting to adjust in some file somewhere? I'll tell you though, man BS look's awesome at 4800x2560! The cockpit is so big it's like being in the real thing. The HUD and displays are virtually life-size and the clarity is ridiculous. I can spot thing's I could never see before. I am in the process of removing the monitors bezels. I think I can get the screen black areas down to only 16 millimeters wide with bezels removed and a slight overlap of the screens.
  2. DCS has already done two air-to-ground combat simulators. We need some air-to-air combat mixed in now with some multi-role fighter(s). Stat!
  3. Yes, all 3 monitors display cockpit, but of course the main instrument panel is displayed on the center display. At this resolution, the ABRIS and SHKVAL are super clear and precise, no need for them to have their own separate screen space. I am still doing some FPS testing but I'd like to get this curved horizon thing figured out on the side displays. It's so annoying!
  4. I am trying to set up DCS:BS with 3x 30" at 7680x1600 resolution using nVidia Surround but I am having an issue. Selecting 7680x1600 in BS menu, 48:10 aspect ratio, 3 monitors get's everything to work right besides one thing. The center display is normal, but the images on both sides or "horizon level" curves downward for some reason. Is there any field of view adjustments in the game? I could not find any in the menu. In Flight Simulator X, the horizon is perfectly level across all three screens, as it should be. For some reason the side views curve down in BS, it's very annoying!
  5. Interesting! What are the cost of those large touch-screens? Since you aren't going for super realism without real switches and gauges, does using the touch-screens save you any time over say, looking down on your regular displays(s) with track IR and just clicking what you need with the mouse? Either way you would be removing your hand(s) from the HOTAS.
  6. Look's kinda cool. Can I ask what is the real appeal to this touchscreen setup versus just making real switches etc? Is it a lot cheaper?
  7. Ah, your right. You can clearly see the stick is a good 10 deg or so rotated on it's yaw axis. I wonder why Thrustmaster didn't make the off-set into this stick? Seem's like they made it for a side-stick instead of middle that way. It's funny though from the DCS sim picture it look's like they didn't model the stick angle correctly. ;)
  8. I don't think it should be hard to modify it to rotate on it's flat base just by drilling some new holes.
  9. With retailer release dates still in September, these sticks are already manufactured. It takes time to quality control check them, package them, ship them from factory to warehouse then to port. Then put on a cargo ship from China to destinations around the world. It's just like if you get a just released monitor or piece of electronics kit, if you invariably look at the manufacture date it was months before it ever got into your hands.
  10. Why do we need multi-crew aircraft? What's the big deal? All it does is introduce problems. Are you going to "freeze" the world as you jump between crew stations?
  11. Not necessarily "hard", but certainly way more tedious than it needs to be. There have been previews of the new TARGET software, so people aren't completely blind to the fact it will be a definitive improvement. As a Pastafarian, I am offended by your religious quip. May the flying Spaghetti Monster's delicious tentacles brighten your day.
  12. I don't think there is a huge vacuum in high end rudder pedals. Simped already makes hall sensor pedals of good quality. Saitek will also be releasing some higher end pedals soon.
  13. The TM Cougar programming software, while had tons of functionality, was quite archaic. I am glad they have updated the software to modern standards with the Warthog.
  14. These pedals are considered to be among the best for the price: http://shop.strato.de/epages/219707.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/219707/Products/%22SP%2004%2011%20007%22 I have the USB version which you will need to work with the Hotas Warthog. Good spacing, hall sensors, durable design (German made). The CH pedal's are much too close to each other for my taste.
  15. FFB is a gimmick. For players that think HAWX is a flight simulator. :pilotfly: Most flight sim enthusiasts have quality pedals like the Simpeds and adding quality pedals to the package would drastically increase the HOTAS price.
  16. You would really cancel the order over a difference of five dollars and twenty six cents? BLT has free shipping, Provantage is $14.95.
  17. I bet you that the Warthog HOTAS is made in China. Virtually everything is made in China these days.
  18. http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop/shop.cgi?action=enter&thispage=01100450100_BDE6442P.shtml&order_id=!ORDERID! A lot of us pre-ordered with them as they show exactly how many they are getting in and the date. You might have to call them for Canadian shipping rates.
  19. Why the hate on Fighter Ops? I give support to anyone who works on flight simulators these days with such a small market, no matter how long it takes them to release.
  20. I don't think the A-10C would ever be operated in a combat theater where enemy fighter aircraft fly around unopposed. You'd have all sorts of CAP with F-22's and such at higher altitudes. The A-10's only real threat is the enemy ground forces it is attacking, and ground based anti-air defenses. I don't think A-10's in either Gulf War even bothered carrying sidewinders, at least not after the first few days. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
  21. I have tried nVidia's current 3d offering for a few days before I returned the glasses. I will tell you that the initial wow factor is pretty high. Seeing cockpit's etc in 3d is pretty darn cool! After you get past the great "wow" factor though, you do see all of the flaws: 1. Super dark gaming. Even with a super bright screen, darker games like Metro 2033 or Starcraft 2 are very dark indeed. The shuttering effect of the glasses effectively cuts the light output of your LCD in half. 2. The 3D image definitely get's rid of 2D's super crisp image and bright colors on a good LCD. Sort of a fuzzy, dullness, also partially caused by the blocking of light. 3. Even though your 120Hz LCD is putting 60Hz into each eye, the shutter effect makes the shuttering much more noticeable than I though it would have. It felt like I was playing a game at 20 FPS and not 60 into each eye. 4. Having to wear expensive glasses is of course a detractor. While not uncomfortable, they did block some peripheral vision. 5. Many, many items in games rated Good, Excellent or even 3D Vision Ready had items set at improper depths. An example of the problem would be that your in-game cursor would be in the extreme foreground yet the item you must click was in the background. This made alignment issues a true problem and definitely hampers game play. 6. I don't know if it was my particular set of glasses, but every once and a while (not often), they would shutter at an improper time and that is obviously annoying. 7. Ghost images. Some games where worse than others, but ghost images and ghosting in general is a problem. 8. If you set up 3x displays, your peripheral view is limited by the glasses and the 3D image in said view get's blurred if your not looking directly at the side screen. 9. FPS is reduced significantly due to more GPU processing requirements. 10. Sometimes very picky to get 3D working right, if at all. Sometimes it only works in DX9, sometimes only DX11 with certain features turned off, etc. To sum up my thoughts, 3D Vision was truly fun to play with for a few days. Although, for what I would consider "serious" gaming and not just about eye candy wow factor, I think it's uses are limited. Although I never had any physical/eye discomfort like some do viewing 3D, having to sit in a dark room, wear glasses, deal with the shuttering, ghosting, improper depths of graphical items outweighs the cool 3D effect. Good thing Newegg as a 30-day return policy on the glasses!
  22. Single-seat multi-role fighter would make a great next DCS release. I'd love to fly any of these: F-16 block 60, F/A-18E, Dassault Rafale-C, Mig-29/35, Su-27/35, JAS 39 Gripen and the Eurofighter Typhoon.
  23. I think two pilot aircraft like the F-15E and AH-64 would stink as a DCS title. I'd love for the next one to be a single seat multi-role fighter. 5th Gen fighters are out, they are too classified. As for 4 to 4.5 Gen multi-role fighters, I'd love to fly any of these: F-16 block 60, F/A-18E, Dassault Rafale-C, Mig-29/35, Su-27/35, JAS 39 Gripen and the Eurofighter Typhoon.
  24. I would have to agree. The aircraft/cockpit models look great, but the terrain needs some work. Mountains / hill's made up of low polygon counts with straight lines, low detail/density textures. Especially when you get close to the ground (KA-50/A-10C)!
  25. I tried nVidia's 3d. While it was cool for the 3d cockpit effect, I found it doesn't have long lasting appeal for me.
