I don't know, it just seems like a waste not to implement ASM for the F-15.

The red gives it away.

Landing.

So, I tried it.

Last month Cobra said that "couple of months" is an exaggeration. Estimating the time on software projects is not easy, but I don't know where the uncertainty comes from at this stage, and its a bit troubling. If I understand correctly, all the major components are pretty much done and are being tested and tweaked.

This is what I like to hear. I'm hoping that the development will soon shift to more complex aircraft, and that we are going to see some multi role jets or bombers relatively soon. I just hope that the developers will not decide against diving into more complex systems because they may think it will not pay out in the end. Frankly, I had no interest in buying the older and simpler aircraft like Huey or the Mi-8, but I decided to try one out. I got the other soon after, and I'm immensely enjoying them both. Sure, its not cutting edge, but the quality of the modules made me want to learn how to fly those choppers and learn their systems.

Maybe have a missile launch a net over the aircraft, tie the other end to a Mi-26 and have it carry the prey back to its lair. I'm thinking that such a missile may enter service by the time sling loads are implemented in DCS.

If the AWACS is present in the mission, try calling it up from the commns menu. It should give you the position of the nearest enemy group. Learn the RWR symbology, so that you know what threats are the most dangerous and require immediate action.

Oh, OK. I would like to see a ED multirole module more than anything else right now.

I'm just a little concerned that ED will get distracted with all these projects that are planned. F-18 is not going to be released this year?

Side slip in level flight, coordinated turns
Nefron replied to Nefron's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for the explanations everybody. -
When I exit a turn, and trim the Shark for level flight I usually get a lot of side slip, even though I'm not banking to either side. The indicator ball is off center, and its kinda annoying to fly that way. What gives? I understand that I should use the pedals to center the ball in turns, but I don't get why I can't seem to get rid of the slip in level flight, even if I didn't properly coordinate my turn. It sometimes happen in Mi-8 also, so I'm maybe missing some pretty basic piloting knowledge. Why does't my helicopter go the way the nose is pointing?

I was just thinking the other day how it would be nice to have a Gazelle in DCS, and I was completely unaware of this project. For some reason, the YT videos posted in this thread aren't working anymore. Also, Shadow, are you a pilot from Senke by any chance?

1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
Nefron replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I'm also interested in the answer. Rockets are kinda impotent right now unless you score a direct hit, and my hands are always shaking from excitement when I pop out behind a hill to strafe something. :D Since the majority of DCS stuff is pounding ground units, it makes sense to fix this ASAP. The same issue affects bombs, correct? Is the F-15 going to be released as a stand alone module now, like Su-25 and A-10? -
Glad to hear it. I saw some 21s the other day, getting hyped. :D
-
The delays are disappointing, but I do believe that they will come through in the end, hopefully soon. I just find it odd that we don't get more videos or screenshots, if the project is in its final phase. It shouldn't be that hard to record a video during testing, and it would alleviate any doubts people have about the final product.
-
I'm getting pumped seeing a few 21s overhead these days.

I will probably get Track IR somewhere down the road. I think a new stick is in order now. For now, I'm doing OK with the hat switches and modifiers. Its not that accurate for head movement, but if I need to lock up that tank using HMS only, I'm too close to them anyway. Anyway, the HMS symbol changes while I'm holding down the button, so that was probably the reason why I though I need to hold it the entire time.
-
Thanks for the replies, but the solution to my problem proved to be a simple one. For some reason I thought that I must hold down the designate target button until the Skhval moved to the designated position. The problem was that in this way I used to drag the target designator away as I maneuver. Apparently, its enough to just tap the button, and Shkval will move to the assigned position, leaving the HMS reticle to move freely in the mean time. Great, its time for some gun runs!
-
So, I'm trying to use the HMS to lock some of the closer targets while maneuvering. I don't own a Track IR, so I'm using the joystick hat switches to look around. The problem is that the pilots head position is relative to the cockpit, not the ground, so to say. So, I'm faced with the problem of having to chase my target with the reticle while maneuvering the helicopter. In real life this would be way easier of course. Is there a way I can make my reticle/head stick to a point on the ground instead of moving with the aircraft? Something akin to ground stabilize, but for the head.
-
That was it, thanks.

I'm trying to cycle the ROE for the door gunners on the Huey, but nothing happens. The key commands assigned are the default, LCtrl + 3 and LCtrl +4. I noticed that the keys for ROE cycling are only present in the UH-1H Game list, and not present in the UH-1H sim key command list. Is this the reason why my commands are having no effect? I'm not really familiar with the game mode.

Serbian G-4 piloted by Goran Savić (RIP) Very quality combat footage from the Yugoslavian civil war. I would guess that the aircraft is a G-2. The jet is under fire throughout the video, and the pilot calls it quits when his canopy gets penetrated. His ranting is highly amusing.
