I've always been able to make this work without any problems. Set a waypoint about 3 or 4 miles ahead and then racetrack. But no matter what I do now the AI will not orbit. And I've tried it with a lot of different aircraft. I've tried deleting the default task too. What I've found works is if I put two waypoints with the first about 3 miles and the second a mile after that with the exact same properties, then it works. It seems like the AI are basically ignoring anything at the first waypoint but taking commands from the second one. Any ideas what could be causing this problem and how to fix it? Or has something been changed in the editor that you need to set to make them obey the waypoints properly?

Need help with bad freezes in MP

No problem, still enjoying 2.5 immensely, just the MP end is a bit frustrating right now. I know they're working on it. -

The sound card drivers are the latest for that card. It's kind of old but it works fine. Creative hasn't released any new ones for that series of card since 2016. We've been experimenting using the Windows Task Scheduler to flush the memory every 15 minutes. I'm also using a shortcut to flush the memory on my system. It seems to help most of the time but I had a freeze last night that caused me to crash into the ground. can't do a track file because it's too big but here's the log file. I took a quick scan through it and it looks like DCS might be overloading the CPU at some points in the mission. Am I reading that correctly? dcs.log-20180329.zip -
After you land at camp Docker, the friendly Mi-8 and at least one of the Mi-24 end up crashing into the sides of hills. I've tried this mission about 6 times and get a similar result every time. So it ends up being impossible to complete the mission. Makes no difference if you change their load outs. They just stupidly fly into the terrain.

Here it is. I'm going to try it this evening and I'll let you know if adding the exception to Defender fixes the problem. If not I'll get a dcs log and post it here. DxDiag.txt -

The only anti-virus I'm using is Window Defender. My firewall stuff is set to minimum. I'll try adding DCS to my Windows Defender exclusion and see what happens. I'm surprised that no one mentioned that to me until now. Are DCS.exe and Run.exe in the bin folder enough to do the job? -

Thanks for the link Mustang and there are SAM's in the mission but you can see in the Tacview file that we're not near them and they're not firing until I fly right into one. If you look at the times I posted for the Tacview file you can clearly see that I lose positional communication with the host at those times. Both of us are on very good internet connections. He's on 250 MB fiber optic and I have 80 MB download. And the same thing happens if I'm on the server in my office. I've hosted Nevada missions on my office server and had up to 1 minute freezes. So unless it's a problem with just having SAM's present in the mission then I don't think that's causing the issue. But I want someone from ED to weigh in on this and give some explanation for why this keeps happening. -
I know that this is beta and that there are going to be problems. We've all accepted that fact. But part of the reason I'm posting this is that I had the exact same problem occur in 2.2 with Nevada. So I want to know if this is a memory leak issue related to the new DCS World of if it could be caused by a flaw in my system. So I'm not questioning ED's progress on their DCS World builds. I want to know if this is hardware or software related. Everything works fine in single player with the exception of a few bad freezes I had in the initial release of 2.5, but as soon as I get in MP I get bad freezes. Some can last up to a minute. I've read some posts that say it's net code related and some that are saying that it could be graphic or memory related. I'm kind of getting to the point where I really don't want to do 2.5 MP scenarios for awhile until this issue is resolved. You'll see from the end of the track file where we're turning on the bandits and as soon as I get in visual range I freeze. It happens again after I try to reacquire another bandit. Ignore the end because I was getting to the end of my patience and flew into the SAM's intentionally. Most of the freezing I've been experiencing has been since 2.2 Nevada. I never had problems like this in 1.5, ever. I've tried repairs, cleanups, full reinstall or rebuilding the saved games folder. It doesn't matter if I'm running no mods or if I'm running just the couple lua and RWR changes for the A-10. Either way, I get these freezes. I don't get it very much in the A-10C, mostly in other air frames like the F-5. PS: I want someone from ED or one of their troubleshooters or someone that is expert in diagnosing this kind of problem and not someone from the community that "thinks" they have an idea of what might be causing this. I'm respectfully requesting that if you don't "know" what the problem is then please just don't reply to the post with your opinion. It will just clutter up the thread with unnecessary information. I have to link to the file because of size restrictions. http://www.VirtualArmedForces.com/downloads/Nalchik Attack Caucasus-20180324.trk I've attached the ACMI file. If you go to 35:56 and 37:40 and zoom in on my F-5 aircraft you'll see that Tacview shows the point where I lose communication with the server. I had to remove the .acmi from the file to upload it but I'm pretty sure you can just add that back on the end to bring it up in Tacview. 1. I want to know if this is just 2.5 current build problem. 2. I have an SSD drive that I can install if it will cure this problem but I want to know for a fact that it will. 3. I have the latest drivers installed.

Thermal Imaging Problem In 2.5
VAF [136] Striker replied to VAF [136] Striker's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
RGR, thanks for the information. At least they're aware of this problem from what you've posted and I'll just have to be patient and wait for updates. I'm glad they're redoing the ATFLIR but it does look really good in 2.5 now. Hopefully it will be even better. -
Thermal Imaging Problem In 2.5
VAF [136] Striker replied to VAF [136] Striker's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
They actually don't like that from what I've seen and read NineLine. That picture looks like it's been altered or that's really poor quality TI. It's my understanding that in high quality and military grade systems the trees blend into the background. I posted some pictures back awhile and here's the link. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3254821&postcount=255 Trees can be seen on IR but they don't show up as bright white like in CA. You can very easily see tanks and running vehicles through trees in IR. In CA you can't see anything through a row of trees currently. It's like looking at a wall of white. In these pictures you can clearly see the difference. The Humvee is warm and the bushes and trees in the background blend in. You can see with the inset picture the difference. This one with people shows even better how trees blend more with the terrain. -
Spring Tension Mission 6
VAF [136] Striker replied to VAF [136] Striker's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Just a quick update. I moved the location of the unit to be rescued on the ground to a flatter area close by and then moved the chopper waypoint and he was able to complete the task. So it's obviously a very simple fix. -
Civilian Aircraft (Airliners) and Civilian (neutral) side
VAF [136] Striker replied to TJTAS's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I would like to be able to add neutral anything into missions. Would make them more immersive. -
You have to fly escort for the other Mi-8 to pick up the stranded man but they keep trying to land and can't for some reason. It's either because of the terrain being uneven or some wind, not sure. I may try it again but it looks like they can't pick him up. I waited for at least 15 minutes but they keep bobbing up and down and never touching down completely.

Multiplayer Server for Steam Grayed Out
VAF [136] Striker replied to VAF [136] Striker's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
You do that through steam? -
Our Steam user can't connect to our server now since the last patch. The line is grayed out. He can see the server but that's it. Any ideas?
-
Nice job on the patch guys!! We were very pleased to find everything working so well tonight. I can't believe how smooth it is and all the modules I tested are working great including the Mi8. You all must have busted your buts to get it out considering it was midnight Moscow time. Do you have any idea why Steam users might be having trouble connecting to some MP servers? Was just wondering if this was something being worked on.
-
Thank you. I'm downloading latest Nvidia drivers but it sounds like you guys are on top of it. Update: Video drivers didn't help but you probably already know that.
-
Thanks Bignewy. I did what you required and still crashes. I don't have any mods for the Mi-8 and just custom textures in the saved games folder for the F-5. The A-10C is crashing now when I try to click on the battery button. New log file attached for that problem. I'm also seeing aircraft parked at weird angles now like when 1.5 first came out and the axis controls for the F-15 don't work with my Warthog setup. dcs.log-20180314-204218.zip
-
Freezes as soon as I hit "fly". Before I do that I can see the cockpit in the background moving around with my TrackIR. Does it in the campaign or in quick start missions so it's not mission related. I can use other modules fine. I've attached the log file. log.zip

Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
VAF [136] Striker replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks, I had the latest version on the server but it never showed up in the special options. I deleted the Tacview folder in the saved games folder and the ones in the scripts folder and reinstalled. Now it's available in the special tab and everything is working OK. Must have been a problem created when I copied over the saved games folder from the other version of DCS.
