  1. Yeah it's kind of a legal grey zone... Using stuff from other games without their permission is kinda okay, nobody will sue you for that. But as soon as you start declaring the stuff "your" work and even charge money for it - then youre going down. ;D
  2. Sorry, I do not understand... What exactly did you change? The normal HUD snap view looks pretty much the same to me. Maybe your's has a little bit more zoom...
  3. I would not use zoom if I had a monitor that covered my whole field of view with a super duper mega high resolution and trackIR, then I would not use the zoom at all. I would even pull out my old Binocs to look for targets on my screen from my chair. But since I only got a 22" and no TrackIR, zoom & mouse helps me a lot.
  4. Hey folks. I just found out what snap view does. It basically moves the camera to a position from which you can properly operate some stuff, radios etc. Problem right now for me - I need to hold down the keys for snap view... So I have to hold down Lwin+ a Numpad key in order to have the camera stay there. No way I can operate my mouse at the same time. Is the a "toggle snap view"? A function that allows me to just press the button combination and the camera stay there by itself? Thanks a lot in advance. EDIT: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68679&highlight=toggle+snap+view Damn it. Why did I have that feeling that pushed me to post before searching... Sorry. Delete me.
  5. You will love this one. :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=78749 Not exactly "loitering and waiting for being called to combat" but rather "search and destroy". But believe me, it's fun as well! Enjoy.
  6. Mhhhhh... Mustang. You the man! @Editing effects: Well the effects are often just polygons with a texture on them. Would it make any sense to sharpen up the texture that is being used? There is this smoke trail mod on DCS files that does that for the smoke - it looks really good, much more volumetric.
  7. Thanks.
  8. DTS = ? What is that? Used by military?
  9. Is any part of DCS A-10 based on military-made simulators or is the whole plane coded and modeled etc. from 0% to 100% by ED?
  10. Yeah well if the ADF worked in the sim (more support for TARS?) I would not have the need for heading in TACAN, hehehe. :)
  11. Roger, thanks. Yeah, still that tiny question about general realistic traveling altitude. Not talking about storms here, just how high the Hogs usually go.
  12. Thanks for the tips. Ugh, the clip costs 40 bucks extra. Jesus man, a bit much for a tiny piece of plastic...
  13. Hey folks... Christmas time so I am thinking, maybe get TrackIR 5? I know there are different packages and what not, I have never really delt with it... I heard there is a cap you gotta wear. But I am using a headset so it would be nice to have that thing you gotta carry on the headset. Can you mount it on it? I am sure TrackIR has some kind of conversion pack or whatever that it charges money for. So ... Yeah, I am more of the "do it yourself" guy. Although not "do it yourself" for Freetrack, hehe. Is there anything I should watch out for? Are used TrackIRs much worse than new ones? Thanks in advance.
  14. Ah, thank you, I get most of it now. 2 frequencies... Now that's interesting, thank you! Stuff makes sense now. So Y and X work the same, the only difference is "use Y for planes, use X for ground"? Is there a way to have TACAN set up for A-10s so it will show bearing AND distance? Just like a tanker's TACAN? Thanks in advance.
  15. Oookaaaay... Now I realize that I lack understanding the TACAN system... The difference between X and Y channels seems to be, as far as I learned now, that in Y you don't get the bearing. Ok, let's say FL is on 20Y and his only wingman is on 83Y. What will happen? Will they both get the range between eachother? What if there are more than 2 planes using this? I always thought it's only possible to get tacan working by having the same channel for everybody, like radio. I mean, sure there would be problems with more than 2 planes, but I just thought... Ah well. Too high for me, haha. Unless someone does a baby step explanation. Wikipedia is friggin hard as well.
  16. Hey folks. I am currently reading the book Warthog - flying the A-10 in the Gulf War. There is a chapter where they say the pilots used TACAN to find eachother in the low-vis conditions. I tried that with a buddy of mine one day, he was still on the ground starting up his engines, I was in the air. We both went on 20X and did AA T/R, normal TR but neither of us was able to get the signal. Does it even work in the sim? I mean it seems to work in real life if the people wrote about it. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Also a small question which is not worth opening up a new thread. I kind of forgot if they said it in the book or not... But at what altitude did the A-10s usually fly over the atlantic? I read that a few times some of them ended up flying through a storm and I asked myself - why not fly at 15k-22k? Above the weather? Is that too high for the A-10? I mean I just did a test flight, 400miles, 23k, no problem. So I was wondering what altitude the people used to cross over the atlantic or what altitude they use for cruising in general.
  17. Did this a few days ago, I drove through half the airport, hahahaha. xD
  18. Angels 32, jesus man I do not want to know how long it took you to get there...
  19. I usually put a container. ^^
  20. Money sent my friend. Thank you for this awesome mod.
  21. Hah, thank you! :) I get it now.
  22. Sorry folks, I am new to the whole DCS universe. I hardly mastered the A-10s systems and all I know are these forums. If there are more sites - I would like to know the links. That's all I ment my asking for download links. Thanks for the replies.
  23. Thanks. Wow, it is so sick what you have to think of as an aircraft engeneer...
  24. Sorry for the really stupid thread title, but I don't know how else to call it. Question - there is a part of the wing, very close to the plane itself, that has a "no step" mark on it. It goes up and down, kinda lifts itself when the angle of attack is high. What is the purpose of this part of the wing? Thanks in advance.
  25. Probably non-stop. Why else would a laser overheat?
