Will any of the jets besides the F-15 have any updates to the cockpits? Like higher resolution panels such as what Ricardo has made? It makes a huge difference. I would love to fly the SU-25 with a cleaner, more readable cockpit.

Get the X-52. It has enough buttons for the A-10 and is much more solid than the Hotas X. If you buy the Hot as X now, you'll just end up buying the X-52 later.

Availability isn't the issue. It's the fact that someone new to the Lock On series would have to spend $60 instead of $40 and depend on decade-old software to be installed in order to install FC3, which will also have its own DRM. How much longer will Lock On even be compatible with modern machines?

This is going to be a big problem with this release. I feel like it will lead to significantly less sales due to the requirement of having a ten year old game bought and installed to run FC3.

This here is going to turn a lot of people away from the product. My guess is that there will be very few buyers that are new to the series and instead the only people willing to purchase FC3 will be current owners of LOMAC/FC2. The group that I fly with was initially excited, but the fact that you have to buy a ten year old game and have it installed in order to run FC3 in DCS World is a total deal breaker. The $39.99 price point seems fair for what we're getting, but for someone that doesn't own a previous version of the game, I highly doubt they're going to buy LOMAC/FC2 to run this, not unless the price is halved or it's offered in a bundle. I personally have LOMAC, and will probably be the only one of my group to get FC3, which is a real shame. Despite the SFM's, the jets will add a great variety to mission creation, but the barrier to entry is completely ridiculous, especially if FC3 is going to have limited activations like all other ED products. Your market would be broadly expanded if you could cut loose from these requirements. Now judging by some other posts here, it sounds like there is a legal issue with Ubisoft over this. Personally, I'd rather just tell them to shove it (as they're a horrible company for the PC anyway) and just make new SFM jets for DCS and sell them individually.

I bought a DVD copy of Lock-On Platinum from Target about a year and a half ago. During that time I've done some extensive computer upgrades and have reinstalled Windows a number of times. In all cases, I've overlooked going through a deactivation of Lock-On before I've formatted the computer or upgraded the hardware. This has led me to activate more times than I've needed to, and my remaining activations are now down to 3. Is it possible to deactivate all previous installs of Lock-On, despite the fact that I've formatted the hard drives on which they were installed? I would hate to run out of activations even though I have a fully legal physical copy of the game that I bought brand new in the store.

Why would an SSD be a problem? I've got mine installed on an SSD and it works perfectly.

Only BS1 is on Steam, although by buying BS1 there, you can get the upgrade version of BS2 and have both for $25.

This series declined with the Bad Company spinoff, and to me, officially died with Battlefield 3. DICE and EA have become so money hungry that they have become Activision and essentially just copied and pasted Call of Duty onto some tiny maps, pasted the vehicles from Bad Company 2, then started releasing insanely priced DLC while refusing to actually fix anything wrong with the game. There still is no in game VOIP for PC players, the maps are all made to be played on a console and not with anything above 24 players, and there is no incentive to work as a team. The fact that they're releasing Battlefield 4 so soon after 3 and it's mountain of DLC just tells me that they're infatuated with greed and have officially abandoned the core community that made the old Battlefield games so popular and brought DICE to where they are now.

Same thing here and with a few people I'm trying to play with.

I noticed this last night while flying the P-51 Dogfight mission in Instant Action. When the enemy P-51 gets about 500 yards away or so, the model switches to a black block rather than a lower detail model. I have not tested player aircraft but I assume it is the same. I can add some screenshots when I get off work this afternoon.

I also prefer to use metric units in the Russian aircraft. Hopefully this will get patched in; I'm sure it's not that big of a deal considering it's already been programmed in previous versions of the sims.

Actually, this only happens to me when I have DCS World disable Aero. When I leave the option unchecked, it's perfectly fine and I do not have to alt-tab to click buttons in the cockpit.

I had this issue a while back. Calibrate your throttle axis and see if that fixes it.

For those that have installed BS2 with a Steam copy of BS1, do you still launch through Steam, or is there a separate shortcut now?

Unfortunately it's been stated in this thread that it will not be released on Steam. I don't see why it couldn't be sold as a standalone game on Steam with a 50% discount for BS1 owners, but Steam has some pretty strict rules that sellers have to follow, so we don't know the whole story. This is quite a disappointment. I love having my games on Steam and a major reason I bought both DCS A-10 and Black Shark is because they were sold through Steam. I don't like having to deal with other forms of DRM. I hope that in the future BS2 will find it's way there, but at this point that's about as likely as Battlefield 3 showing up along side it.

My mistake. Black Shark doesn't show up when you search "DCS" on Steam, so I was worried that it was taken down for some reason. I should have been more thorough. Anyway, I am willing to support ED for BS2. I love their sims. I just hope the compatibility patch comes out soon.

Hey everyone, I just registered to discuss this topic. I own Black Shark on Steam. If I uninstall it, will I be able to reinstall now that it isn't sold on Steam? Does anyone know for sure what's going on with this? EDIT: I'm an idiot. See below.
