I'm clearly missing something, but is the Nevada map supposed to represent a new theatre of war? If so, what is the proposed story scenario in which aerial warfare breaks out inside US borders?
-
That's a highly classified photo, you better have a good explanation for how you got it!
-
Zart Arn, firstly let me say thank you for your excellent -=War=- server; your dynamic campaign is fantastic and is the best mp experience I have had in the DCS universe. I wanted to point out a bug with the F-15 HUD on one of the campaign's missions (the Abkhazia one I think): the HUD is permanently zoomed in and is therefore useless. Oddly this bug only seems to effect the F-15 and only affects this mission (maybe Aggression of Georgia as well....?) Anyway, thanks again Mandrake

Anyone care to speculate why ED chose the F-18C over the more potent F-18E Super Hornet? Could it be due to the comparative lack of unclassified data for the more modern jet?
-
you did? do tell!
-
This is really, really badly needed.
-
What is the thing I can do that makes me the easiest target? Fly. What is the thing I can do that most frustrates you? Land.
-
So, is anyone able to decipher all this?
-
Thanks for your quick reply EtheralN, I have done what you suggested, and pasted the info below - is this of any use? Every 10 minutes playing FC3 online = FREEZE = "DCS is not responding". I have tried turning down all graphics options, nothing changes. I even removed soundcard driver in case this was causing crash. Every other game is 100% stable on my PC...no crashes. DCS World is currently unplayable, any advice gratefully received!!! So where is the 1.2.3 update?
Mandrake5 replied to YakobeGrizzlyLepotyv's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Absolutely not. To quote Edmund Blackadder: "You can have a day off when you die." -
This guy performed a perfect ambush, trailed me using his EOS so I got no RWR spikes, then activated radar and fired an R-77 at close range all within about 1 second. First I knew of it I was falling out of the sky! I was very impressed.
-
Aha, found it, thanks! Now for a some target practise...
-
I got shot down by an R77 (AA-12) on the 51st server last night (fired by a MiG-29) - however I didn't think this missile was in FC3 1.2.2  Today, I tried to add the R77 to some red fighters in the Mission Editor, but I can't find the R77 anywhere under payload.... so where is it and how can I have a play with it? :helpsmilie:
-
Sorry if it's been asked already, but is there any way for a two-ship of F15s to send each other radar info, i.e. so one can fly 'silent' (radar off) and receive targeting info from his wingman? If not, does anyone know if there are any plans for this in future updates?

Missile Dynamics - A discussion
Mandrake5 replied to Teknetinium's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Please for heaven's sake don't neuter the aim120 in future patches like in FC2, keep it as realistic as the available data allows, even if it affects 'gameplay'. It is after all a force multiplier designed to outperform Russian missiles. And after all red jets have better radar and stealthy IR missiles, which can easily win if red pilots use a wingman as diversion. Adapt and survive! -
So where's the new patch? Why announce it on Xmas Eve as if its a timely Xmas present and then not deliver? Another very strange decision IMO, almost as mind-meltingly bizarre as a P51 Mustang flying through an East European warzone in 2012.

What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?
Mandrake5 replied to csper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I totally understand and respect your perspective, however as the OP mentions and you further explain, what we are getting in P51 is essentially a pure simulator, i.e. a plane to fly around in and that's it, whereas customers of the DCS series are accustomed to, and have an insatiable demand for, authentic combat missions in an engrossing real-world setting, of which the high-fidelity airframe of A10C or BS forms the central, but not the only part. I appreciate your optimism that P51 is just a bonus and won't delay the next major modern-era release(s), and as a massive DCS fan I really hope you're right. I guess that P51 came so far out of left-field for me (and seemingly for many others) that it has severely disoriented my sense of ED's priorities and direction, that's all. -
What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?
Mandrake5 replied to csper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Couldnt' agree more with the OP - the logic of releasing the P51 model without any era-specific terrain or aircraft into a Digital COMBAT simulation totally eludes me....(except that it might be a quick income generator if it's based on work ED already had 'lying around' so to speak - it may hopefully allow them to channel more resources into 'proper' DCS releases in future?????) I guess the one big hope is that P51 doesn't delay the 'parallel' projects much (FC3 and DCS Fast Mover). -
Join the club. Nobody knows yet.
-
Well, that's one possibility.... sigh.
-
Where's the bit about parallel development of a modern aircraft sim for 2012? Was there another announcement, if so where? I know FC3 has been mentioned in an earlier statement, but nothing here. So no need to get sniffy and start patronising people. Don't be surprised by the cynicism among DCS customers who thought ED was busy developing a range of compatible modern aircraft to further expand the DCS universe. There's nothing wrong with radically and suddenly changing direction, it's their prerogative, but the above statement that P51 will be online compatible with A10c and Black Shark only adds to the confusion - clearly they are not designed to be part of the same universe. A better statement might be to explain that the P51 module includes other non-flyable WW2 aircraft and suitable maps (if indeed it does) for stand-alone playability. If this is not the case, then this should be explained too. In short, it's a rather confusing/unclear announcement from an otherwise fantastic company, hence the hullaballoo. Learn English. It's more than a language; it's a life skill

News report just in: "Bizarrely, today a second world war P51 Mustang was seen flying in formation with a three ship of A10 Warthogs over the Crimean peninsular. According to a Nato spokesperson, the flight attacked a heavily defended Russian ammunition depot in South Ossetia. While the three A10s remained on station for over 2 hours after the raid conducting BDA and defeating an array of SAMs and AAA with their heavy armour and countermeasures suites, the Mustang was sadly shot down within seconds of entering the target area and was hit by so much ordnance that it literally disintegrated in mid-air. No trace of the suicidal pilot has been found."
