Hi agrasyuk see you have a laser as well. Best tool, isn't it? How do you do your engravings? Do you prepaint it an then laser it? I did this in the past, too. But now I use thin plates of two colored plastics, special for laser engraving. They are white with a thin plastic layer in black on top. So you can laser the black layer easily away and have very sharp white letters. They offer them in different color combinations.

sorry for the long absence Hi, sorry for the long absence of the forum. But in fact I have spent a lot of time in my call it "baby" So the bus system I developed ( I mentioned this at another place in the forum) to interface hardware with A-10 is finished up and works very fine for me. Changed to interface by network (udp), what brings a lot of advantages Finished up nearly all of the remaining panels, so take a look at the left console. And the best news last: Found the cockpit of an Tornado fighter in England and shot it on ebay. So, hopefully in 3 or 4 weeks I'll have my own real 8 meter long fighter nose.....still can't believe it! Have all a good time and happy new year!

little introduction Hi all, made a little introduction to my modules as pdf. Have fun! The i2c bus system.pdf -
Is there any interest for an i/o system??

Hi, sounds like you are an professional. I am just, lets say, an advanced beginner. Should say something about my configuration. in one i2c bus there are max 8 MCP23016 devices. to get the in and outputs needed, I use up to four pca9546 i2c switches to gain multiple different i2c "branches". The arduino then quickly switches between the 16 busses to access the MCP23016 chips. I tried the configuration getting no problems with the facts you mentioned. hope, I wont in the future.... Looked at the project. This is exactly what I dont want to have. I used the opencockpits system, and there you also have the problem connecting every switch to the boards. So, in my system you use a very small device for every panel in your cockpit, only connected with the 4 wire cable to the Arduino board. so, no cabeling through the cockpit. -

oh, I have to cancel the order for my new Ferrari....thought I found the holy grail... no, just kidding thought about setting up a page to start an open source base for my I/O system so that anybody can set it up on his own. It's just soldering a few parts together, no big deal. I have attached some pics of my software so that you can imagine what I am talking about -

if you don't use any outputs......2048, but this you'll never need I think....... by the way: next to the programming software I have written an SDK,too. So it's possible to write own programs. -
Hi all, for my little homecockpit (look at my thread Gremlins A10) I have developed an input output system based on the i2c bus. Now I think about manufacturing this little system for the homecockpit scene. You all are the specialists, what do you think? Is it worth it? Here some facts: * Totally based on 4 wire bus system including power connection * Each slave with either 16 inputs or 16 outputs * system can contain 256 slave devices, makes 2048 inputs or outputs * slave costs about 2€ only the parts without board an work * master is any arduino board with i2c bus (costs about 20 €), only one needed *easy programming with selectable predefined functions (eg Master Arm switch etc) or self designed functions (device button states) Hope, many of you give feedback

would like to have such a clean work, too. in my cockpit there is always dust from cutting an building the pit. have you got a cleaning worker payed to do nothing else than cleaning your pit?... ;-) just kidding. great work!

why dont you use white acryl and black printet foils. so you also can backlight the panels. hope its not a stupid idea...

yes, as mentioned running with about 55 fps. the projectors use just a resolution of 1280 x 800 each, so the amout of pixels is not so high. for the cpu its no problem dealing with two graphic cards. run a I7 at 2.8.

after a long time....projectors work hi all, sorry for my long absent time. But I have brought abit on the road. So now I use three projectors for the outside view. Attached some pics below. Bought these at ebay for abaut 150 Euros each, and what should I say... I love it. Now got a real feeling of flying a jet. The Graphic cards bring the view up to 55 fps. Using TrackIR I get a bit sick cause all you see is the moving projector screen.....thats the way it has to be!! For Projection screens I use a very carefully painted new build dry wall for the front and two powdercoated aluminium plates (9016) for the sides in about 30 degrees of the front. Hope you like what u see. If you have the chance and the place to use projectors instead of monitors, dont think about it - DO IT!!

yeah, this is what i was looking for. thanks a lot for finding it!!!!!!
-
thanks for the replies folks. i will give it a try!

thanks, but this i know. what i want is to see is the cockpit upper frame and when looking left and right with trackir want to see the wings etc.
-
hi all, finished my setup using three projectors. having a little homecockpit, i dont want to have a-10 to display the hole cockpit. is there a possibility to just display the upper cockpit frame and the border of the hud? cannot build these in my real cockpit cause it throws shadows on the screens because i use front projection. hope someone can help or tell me in which thread to ask for a solution. ( mod thread perhaps?)

you can use rotary either with sioc or witch the arcaze interface very easy. arcaze emulates joystick presses out of the encoder signal which you can directly connect in the a-10 option with the apropriate function.
-
i use the opencockit cards and i am quite happy woth it. there are multiple special cards for this system for servos display etc. but they are a bit tricky in programming using sioc. your decission.....
-
you will have 8 outputs i think. if you use crossfire or sli you only have the outputs of one card. i use two identical cards with 3 outputs each, makes 6 monitors connected.

very nice work, looking forward to see more

bought a used beamer at ebay, should arrive these days. hope projection will bring me to a next level of flight experience!!!!!!!!

nice work, thank you

i use two 19 zoll tft, the left one landscape, the right one portrait. to bring the mfds to life, in the past i tried to export them directly by dcs. but using such a big resolution for the game, the framerate goes down extremely. so i export them now to the three front displays on the left side and copy them with the screenreplicator of helios to the two front panel screens. you loose about 300 points of the external view, but framerate is not affected at all. this is the same way i bring the cdu display on the cdu monitor. works fine for me.

Pics of the left and right console Hi all, here some pics of the left and right console as far as finished.
