  1. I have a friend who is having this problem if anyone has any input, that would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. thanks. Though, I suspect it might since bs2 is an available module on steam. I'm more concerned about that potential future module that is not going to be available on steam... if that part of the update would be part of the steam update packages or not. I appreciate the input.
  3. but, i'd still have to keep a separate dcs world install in order to keep those modules up to date, and manually push them every time? which would defeat the purpose of moving to steam, if that is the case.
  4. If that is the case, is it possible to integrate modules not available through steam into our steam dcs world? I have no problem buying them through ED. I've bought bs1 and bs2 standalone versions, and a-10c through ED, and am happy to do that to put a little extra change in their pocket. Just don't want to go the steam route if I'm not going to be able to have some modules working on it in the future. For example... let's say someone makes a Longbow module one day (my dream) but decides not to offer it on steam. Would I be SOL if I were using the steam dcs world, or could I still purchase and activate via ED, but integrate the files into the steam world? The downloads are killing me with the non-steam version, but it's not worth having a potentially gimped steam version :) Wish it could be all or none.
  5. Thanks. I use steam quite a bit, I just wasn't sure in this case if we were still going to be tied to the auto-updater (currently downloading at 30KB....) I appreciate the confirmation... My only remaining hesitation is whether it is a safe bet that future 3rd party modules will all be making it to steam, and dcs world 2: Europe, etc. I know fc3 won't be there ever, but, I am not worried about that one. I own bs2, and a-10c... probably getting the huey next, so I'm good as far as current content. Seems like they are more committed to steam this time around than the way it worked out in the past. Thanks for the info.
  6. do the updates get pushed out over steam if you are using steam, or still using the dcs updater? One of the most attractive reasons for me considering switching to steam is the uber-slow dl speeds of the updater.
  7. I am very much looking forward to seeing how this shapes up. Imagining DCS World 3-5 years down the line, running on a more modern engine, and with plenty of aircraft and theaters of war to pick and choose from. Look forward to more info on this project, and best of luck.
  8. From what I can see, there is definitely going to be an improvement in non-bottlenecking areas of the game. But, areas where the game can't keep up, will still be trouble areas. Fortunately, I haven't noticed those areas that much with this game yet) (p.s... sorry. For some reason I thought you were a random person coming in the thread, which made me read your previous post with different intent) :)
  9. Quite an assumption. What makes you think I bought this card specifically for this game? Or, any game for that matter. I was at my 2 year upgrade point for my GPU. Some of us have jobs with specific hardware needs. Gaming is a secondary consideration of hardware upgrades. Yes. I was aware of that fact. Just haven't run into gpu usage being bottlenecked as a reuslt (in this game) yet... Admittedly, I am just getting back into it as I never found it very enjoyable in the past due to persistent stutter (which moving the game from a raid 0, back to a regular drive seemed to help a lot with... oddly).
  10. spoke too soon. was in a campaign mission with more ai, and just encountered gpu usage drops from the game which craps my fps... it is more robust than arma, but that was infinitely frustrating. I see this game has the same problem of not being able to utilize modern hardware due to lack of good multi-threading support.
  11. i went from a 580 to a sc 780 and the improvement was quite noticeable in DCS. @2560x1600 on a single monitor, I'm playing all maxed settings (except civ traffic on low) and I get a lot of 60fps. I'd say 40-60 is the general range. Arma on the other hand, I got next to nothing due to the game's engine problems. So, ED is doing something right.
  12. it's a little thing, I know... But, I always enjoyed having the pilot body in BS. It is purely an immersion thing for me (especially now that I am finally getting trackir today :) ) But, as others have mentioned, having clipboards with customize-able content would also serve a useful function
  13. I would love to have clickable mfcd's as an android app for tablets. If you will make this available, I am more than willing to pay for it.
  14. You need to download the DCS world modules for the standalone titles that you already own. You can use the serial key from your standalone versions to activate their respective modules in dcs world. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/ IIRC, you can leave the standalone versions, or uninstall them. Your choice. But, you need the equivalent modules for your purchased content to work within dcs world.
  15. Just reviving my vote for an AH-64 or similar U.S. attack heli. I saw rumor that there may be a cobra in the works (which I would find very cool as well)
  16. Just to make completely sure I am going to do this correctly... I have full versions of a-10, and bs2. I need to completely uninstall those older versions. I also need to delete any save games/config. THEN, I need to download and install world 1.2.0. THEN, I need to install (only) the bs2, and a-10 modules for world, correct? I do not need to also install bs2 and a-10 standalone 1.2.0 versions? stand alone versions of these products are now considered obsolete, and should be uninstalled, and the only thing we are looking at is World, and the associated modules for our previously purchased products.
  17. I would like to write in a vote for the Apache Helicopter, or another U.S. Attack Helicopter. Been wanting another good one since Jane's Longbow back in the day :) Thanks.
