Okay I'll begin with this.... Eagle is developing an F/A-18C at this time, but they haven't released pics/videos of it because I would assume it is still very much WIP.
For modern jets, there is also a MiG-21Bis being developed by Leatherneck, Eurofighter and Hawk by VEAO, Mirage 2000 by RAZBAM, F/A-18E Super Hornet by Coretex and probably others I forgot to name.
I assume Eagle is also busy with the release of EDGE coming up hopefully, and the integration of the F-86 and MiG into that game.
Are you kidding me? Warthunder is NOT a flight simulator and does not aim to please the hardcore simulation fans; it's an arcade game.
Modern aircraft as most people know are a lot more complex than WW2 planes, take the A-10C for example. It took Eagle Dynamics 5 ish years to build this simulator and that was because they had clearance from the American National Guard to use their information for the game. Or at least that's what I've read. What was the result of this wait? The most realistic, top quality flight simulation that raised the bar and set a new standard.
The World War 2 planes attract a lot of simulation fans, as DCS WW2 is the only sim currently that has fully clickable professional flight and systems modelling planes. People that love IL-2 (such as myself) but wish it took the realism to the next level and added the functionality of the cockpits, DCS WW2 is definitely looking promising to those people. If it's up to the same standard as the Mustang, then we'll all be happy :)
WW2 is a much bigger fan base than modern combat, and once it really takes off for DCS we will likely see a huge increase in funding and availability for more planes and possibly faster development.
I can assure you, a delayed release, is far better than a buggy/broken release that can cause an uprising on forums :D
