  1. You can get it to hit you if you fly at low level straight towards it, otherwise it always passes astern and is pretty much useless. ..
  2. Never mind. Ignore the take off. It's for my purposes only. ..
  3. DCS, Harrier, 14 Mk82, GCIP to GAUT, INS bombing. My Reference Training mission. Supplement to previous video. Basic INS bombing, alternative to Toss Bombing. No DMT. GPS alt. Crimea. Harrier. Take off from Hermes with 14 Mk82 slicks. Target, 1 Ural truck loaded with a high value asset, which MUST be destroyed., protected by 5 Strella 13 and 3 Igla SAMs. A shallow dive drop, release at least 13000' alt. is required to avoid SAMs. ..
  4. That's what the INS/MC combo can do, independantly of the ARBS. I have DMT/ARBS turned off. This gives, without moving the mode selector, INS without TV. Move selector fwd it's the same, so it's the default position. This will give me GCIP (GPS CIP). INS will give me a posn/flight path. Baro alt or RALT Radar alt (RCIP), a height above target alt. Waypoint target designation, will give target alt from lat long posn. GCIP cross will do the same* Target alt is the keystone of the triangle. MC can work out the ballistics for a hit solution and release. ARBS/DMT can directly lock the target or ground and is therefore more accurate (TBCont or altered). ..
  5. "INS designation. Using the INS TD LOS angle and elevation (Baro or RadAlt), the range (Rs) to the target is calculated. This is resolved into the X, Y and Z planes. INS output along the X, Y and Z axis are subtracted from Rs ranges as theaircraft progresses towards the release point predicted from the Runge Kutta output." Doesn't this cover what you want? ..
  6. If you place a point on a known map height, as soon as you move through space a new angle is produced, which will give a new exact distance to that point. How does that sound? ..
  7. I haven't noticed it before, but yes, if it's in the manual, I wonder why we don't have one. ..
  8. I have been reading those same paragraphs, over and over and the Game manuals, but find it difficult to come to an absolute certain conclusion. INS is part of ARBS and can come to a solution without the DMT. It also supplys information to allow the DMT to do its job. But is it working independantly of ARBS, when doing its own thing? How can it work when I've turned off the DMT and not selected a sensor? Does it turn it on when the pickle is pressed for CCIP? What is DMT without video? OK, found that bit. Sometimes I get INS with video. (not slewable). OK found that bit. Whatever mode I use, I can get most of the bombs/CBUs in the ring (about the size of Holbeach large target area) from 15000'. Maybe the game has 1 number cruncher for everything. Back to the manual. :book: ..
  9. INS/ARBS, is the basis of the system and will calculate a solution without DMT. It is using the ARBS. With the DMT added, you can see the target, slew the marker and lock on. It adds accuracy, but is not essential for an attack to be performed. These are the 2 variations of ARBS. INS, diamond. DMT, square. ..
  10. Yes, they are hotspots. The DMT or INS are integral to ARBS, INS is used when DMT is unsuitable or goes off for some reason. The INS transfer is automatic. I am at present using, DMT, INS, or GPS drops, with a start alt of 25000', shallow dive, pickle 20000' and release about 15000', CCIP, with mk 82 or CBU into my 450' barrel. EDIT. INS and GPS are the same. If using a lower altitude, 10000', dive toss in required, to keep clear of the SAMs ..
  11. The DMT is turned off. The INS is designating the target area and the ARBS is calculating the release. DMT and INS off, GPS is designating target* ..
  12. RAF, Harrier, Bombing, HUD. For my reference (1996). ..

  14. It seems to be that way, right from the start of this thread. ..
  15. Try to suspend reality and technicallity for a minuit. This is a dartboard, purely for test purposes, 950' alt, 450' across and evenly spread with targets to give an indication of fall of shot. They could be anything. It is for practice only. It has 3 Igla and 2 Strella 13 to prevent close in CCIP. The video shows 10000' pickle, 7500' Toss release at 3 nm. no DMT. I am now exploring other approaches, which at the moment is, CCIP pickle at 20000', 18 deg dive for release at 15000' and so on, with different variations. Result is a very satisfying splat and would be ideal for a bridge. Regards. ..
  16. They're 50 mtr apart, spread randomly, no lines. If I make the spread larger, it just makes the target bigger and easier to hit. It favoures this type of none precision bombing. No cover in Crimea! This is just a proof of concept, first shot. There are 220 targets to choose from in this mission. DMT doesn't work, so I can't use it 'till it gets fixed. The skin................. is by, TheOneAndOnlyFrenchie, in the User Downloads. ..
  17. GCIP Dive Toss. This is a 1st attempt at exploring the possibilities of using Dive Toss, with the Harrier CCIP to CCRP mode. A simple mission to practice Take off from the Hermes, attack a group of troop carriers, protected by 2 Shilka and 3 Igla. No pre designation of target. No DMT. 12 Mk 82 slicks. Shallow dive. Late pull up. Hard left break to avoid Igla launch. Land back on the carrier. ..
  18. Agreement I think. Rather dissapointingly, the results were the same. I had targets at 40' 5000' 7000' and on top of a 9000' mountain. If there is any difference, it's not much. Never mind, the actual CCIP to CCRP with DMT thing seems to be OK. I like the fact you can use it as a marker without dropping anything, slew onto the target and lock it then change to CCRP. .. ..
  19. Let me expand. I use DMT exclusively for everything. CCIP uses it for target info. There is no point not to use it. It gives an accurate solution for CCRP CCIP. It is the correct way to use it. But I wanted to see the result of turning off the DMT on exactly the same targets to see what difference there was and if it was useable. Using mk 83 with CCRP, CCIP(DMT) and GCIP(no DMT), all in shallow dives. It was difficult to tell any difference in accuracy. While there is no point in not useing DMT, you don't need it. It can be used without. ..
  20. If you are going to use DMT on the target, there is no need to use CCIP. Use CCRP in a shallow dive. It is quite accurate. If you are going to use CCIP you do not need DMT. ..

  23. Good job. I'm glad it worked for you. Greasing, for me, didn't work at first, but got better with age and usually lasts for several months. I'm guessing the metal cup of the pro, only has to be better. Regards..
  24. Don't use the spray. It made it worse for me. Incidentally, my stick had become unplayable, because with age, the rear part of the rim wears flat, therefore increasing the surface contact area. Sticking had become intollerable. I removed the spring and replaced it with bungees, which cured it, but was only good for helicopters, so I compromised with my present setup. Sticking is now non existant. .. ..
  25. I removed detent. Easy job. Reduced pressure on cup by cable tying top coil, mainly for helicopter operation, but now use it for everything. Apply liberal application of silicon grease on rim and especially shaft. There is no sticking whatsoever. Rub finger around rim and up and down shaft before every use. (to spread grease). Give clean and reapply grease occasionally. My stick is better than new after many years of use. I believe the pro has a metal cup, which can only be better. ..
