DCS, Harrier, SEAD, SA-10, Rockeye, LL CCRP attack. Attacking a "Grumble" site, Krymsk, protected by 3 x Igla and 1 x Strella 10, plus 1 x SA-10 at Kraznodar-Center, which overlaps. Site has been moved into woods, where Sidearm can't get at it without hitting trees, when fired from a low height. Target 30N6 TR engagement radar. Weapon 12 x Mk 82 Snakeye plus 2 x Sidearm. CCRP bombs, when pre designated, will guarantee you attack the correct radar and stay low. Sidearm will go for any radar on the site and will require a pop up, thereby exposing yourself to the Grumble. First take out TR engagement radar with Snakeys. This will disable site. Then 2 tracking radars can be attacked with Sidearms from a greater height to miss surrounding trees. (Beware Strella 10). Stay low (about the height of a medium tree) and nothing can get you. Weight is at 100%, so handling is sluggish.. Video made with OBS, from 1 original and 2 replays from the same mission. ..

How do you solve a problem like a Grumble? Easy enough when there is plenty of cover, as in the previous videos. But, how do you kill a Grumble in the open? 3 radars and 32 missiles. Fast, long range and deadly. SEAD, low level training missions. Notes. SA-10 sites. Krymsk. Flat surrounding land with trees. Maintain alt between 100' and 40' AGL (below tree level) and the incoming missile will not lock, despite SA-10 radar lock. For Sidearm, pop up at 11nm briefly, launch and hit the deck. Incoming missiles will lock and then break. For Snakeyes, carry on to target at LL then increase height to 200' AGL for a CCRP drop. SN66M SR is 140' tall. 30N6 TR is 91' tall. Site is completely disabled if 30N6 TR, Flap Lid, engagement radar is destroyed. If SN 66M SR is destroyed, site operates at a reduced level. Conclusion: If the 30 N6 is destroyed first by Sidearm, (it decides which one to hit), as in this video, then site is dead. Or target it with Snakeye. This means that you can now plink the rest at your leisure. So this SA-10 site is protected by 3 x Igla and 1 x Strella 10, plus 1 x SA-10 at Kraznodar-Center, which overlaps, to prevent that. Here is part of a video showing the basic attack mission, before the local defence is added. Vaziani. This SA-10 site is protected by 3 x Igla and 1 x Strella 10, plus 1 x Kub 6 to the SW, which overlaps this site. Undulating surrounding countryside with distant mountains. More difficult to maintain required low level and to get a Sidearm lock. Destroy all 3 Grumble radars plus Strella 10 as a bonus. Carry 4 x Sidearm plus 2 AGM-65G or Snakeyes, for both missions. ..

DCS, Harrier, CCRP, Low Level Toss Bombing, Grumble 10 target. Toss bombing. Trying out the updated ASL, which is now fixed to the target marker. It's a great improvement. SA-10 long range Grumble SAM site is protected by 2 x Osa and 2 x Igla, 1 x Shilka. A low entry toss is performed with 8 x Mk 83 1000 lb bombs, to surprise the defenders. Chucking them over a small mountain, is a good way to do it . Notes: To turn off Betty. UFC, ALT. ODU GPWS turn off. ..

SA-2 can't hit a target flying straight and level
Holbeach replied to backspace340's topic in Object Bugs
Passing by SA-2 with mild manoeuvre, site on average, and no P-19. Both kills by proximity fuse. 75% passed clear behind. SAMS started to shoot after passing site. On, excellent and P-19 added, missiles started shooting at long range. All passed clear behind. .. -
Both of mine are working OK. Make sure you've got a P-19 and S 125 TR SNR in the mix. ..

A few quick runs with slicks, 22000' and 20kts crosswind and I came to the same conclusion. Without wind, the accuracy was as expected. Toss bombing had a much further drift, which was as expected. DMT worked OK, with a lock on a T-72 at about 6.5 nm. which could be useful with Mavericks. The ASL will help with CCRP Dive Toss, but with about 10 to 15 deg pull up and diagonal attack, if there is any crosswind. ..

@ Harlikwin. I don't have the updated ASL and DTM yet. I'll give it a good look as soon as I get it. ..

Thanks. It is great fun. ..

"It is inherently inaccurate". That's why I like it. It's difficult to get consistent hits. It needs a lot of practice. Apart from the lack of cue, it is exactly the same as a real Harrier did it. ..

SEAD Training Misssion, as it stands. Clear the Rioni River Valley of Russian SAM site radars, in preparation for an attack by Coalition aircraft supporting Georgian Army units. This is a, SAM rich, airspace, dominated by the long range Grumble, which covers the whole area. Down in the Daisies, is the only way to survive. I did it like this: destroy the SA 10 SAM site radar (1 scanner only is required to disable site, SN66 M), defending Ahalsopeli Defence Research Establishment. 1 x Sidearm. Destroy Kub 6 radar at the bridge. 2 x Sidearm Destroy Osa 8 in convoy. 1 x Sidearm (missed). 1 x Maverick. Destroy 2 SA-2 radar at Kutaisi airbase. 1 x Maverick, Gun. Land at Senaki Airbase or Tarawa. Not perfect, but we got the job done. Unedited replay with a few missile shots added at the end. OBS. for all videos. GL.. .. Holbeach AWR copy copy .miz

DCS, Harrier, SEAD. Sidearm, Maverick. SA3, SA6, SA8, targets. Training mission. SEAD. 4 x Sidearm, 2 x Maverick. SA3, guarding oil storage depot. Kub 6 SA6 , guarding bridge. Osa SA8 guarding convoy, are the targets. 1st target is SA3, which is also inside Kub 6 range circle. Osa kill, was a rather lucky, long range, rear ender. Close in defence, is also provided by, 7 x ZU 23mm, 3 x Strella 1 and 2 x IGLA. SA3 does very little, so I will replace it. I can't get the SA2 or 3 to activate, I must be missing something, so I've replaced them with a SA 10 Grumble set, which is proving very interesting with its 3 radar system. So the mission is now: Destroy the SA 10 site, plus the Osa SA 8 and the SA 6 SAMs, with the above weapons. I've sorted the SA 2/3 problem. I'd forgotten it needs the P19 radar included. This site has been added to Kutaisi airfield. The SA 10, Ahalsopeli Defense Research Establishment, SA 6 bridge defence and SA 2 Kutaisi sites, now cover each other, as the enemy advances across the bridge. ..

Sidearm Training Mission. Destroy the Kub SA6 bridge defender, the Osa SA8 convoy defender and the bridge. Land at Kutaisi. You have: 4 x Sidearm, 1 x AGM 65G, 1 x Mk 83. I've learnt an awful lot about how to use Sidearm, in a heavy threat environment, using this scenario. Notes. Sensor has a curious drop down when locking on, rather than pointing at the target. I don't know if this is correct. A kill is rare, if the target is moving. Not correct, it should track it on the move, but it always lands behind. A shot from the rear has a better chance. Missile doesn't loft after leaving the rail. Not correct, but you can do it yourself to help clear trees etc. Missile hits the antenna, not the hull. Correct. IR cooler is not required. ..

A-10a, Maverick, original training mission video, Lock on. Still relevant for the DCS Flaming Cliffs A10a, which doesn't come with a training mission.. ..

DCS, Harrier, Sidearm/Dive toss Mk83/Maverick. Bridge attack. This is a training mission I set up for myself, in order to learn how to use Sidearm and Maverick missiles, with variations on this theme. To attack this bridge with 6 x Mk 83 1000 lb bombs, we must first remove the Osa SA8 SAM. This is achieved with a Sidearm AGM-122 missile. A Dive Toss attack can then be performed, to keep out of the range of short range SAM/AAA defenders and destroy the bridge. IR AGM 65G Mavericks are then used to kill artillery. This is an uncut mission, with a few replays at the end. Update ASL bug, 21/3/19: =DECOY= This has been fixed and it currently with the internal testing team for review. __________________ ..

Memory aid video. For practice with Sidearm/Maverick. Maverick IR video, works in left MFD only, after stores page. Plan: Load, to attack Osa SA8, (plus, 8 23 mm, 1 Shilka, 3 Strella 1, 4 Igla) protected bridge, shown in 1st video: 2 x Sidearm 8.9 miles, plus 2 x Maverick AGM 65 G, 7.5 miles, 6 x Mk 83 CCRP Dive Toss, 4.5 miles, 6/2/010 @ 550 kts. min. Update: Harrier: Sidearm lock and launch @ 10.6 nm max for an Osa kill. Fire both to maintain trim. Osa: Lock Harrier @ 11.6, launch @ 7.0, death by Osa @ 4.5 nm. Therefore Dive Toss is not possible, (on a straight run in). Only Low Level CCRP Toss is possible, to kill the bridge and prevent the convoy crossing. So. Sidearm the Osa, hit the deck before SAM launch, perform LL CCRP Toss. Or, approach LL, pop up, Sidearm Osa, perform Dive Toss. Or, Sidearm Osa, pull left, avoid missiles, carry on Dive Toss. I've settled on: Sidearm the Osa at max range, turn hard right to break the lock. Turn back and perform a Dive Toss on the bridge. Use 2 AGM on armour. ..

Anyone with FSX 1011 Tristar, will be familiar with DLC, which was introduced before the F 14 came out and is the only airliner to ever use it. ..

I've got 72 hrs. on this aircraft. How many do I need before the newness wears off? "It's a pretty aircraft". There's another good reason to get it! Only the vertical stuff is difficult. I got my 28 quids worth just trying to land the thing. The rest is straightforward if you want to move up from FC3, or just don't do stuff until you feel ready. ..

Best reason of all, to get the Harrier. ..

Better way to report bugs/Confirm that ED is aware
Holbeach replied to Pougatchev's topic in Forum and Site Issues
In my industry, a correctly filled bug (Defect) report, is assigned a reference number. This has to be acknowledged within 1 week by the Company. A report has to be received back within 1 month, as to the method used to tackle the bug, if indeed it is one. Progress can be accessed at any time by typing the reference number into the bug list. .. -
When Dive Toss isn't possible, due to flat land and heavy SAM presence, Low Level, under the Radar, is the only way to go. Mk 83, 1000ib, is more accurate than 500 lb Mk 82, which always land long (Update: They are falling square in this mission). This is LL toss bombing against a submarine replenishment operation in Sennoy Bay. Heavy SAM protection is: 2 Strella 10 SA 13, Osa SA8, 4 IGLA SA18, Shilka Cannon, Grisha SA8 30K, Molniya 30K. Note: ASL doesn't work correctly in the Harrier, as is evident in these videos, but it is not required at any time for these types of delivery (Dive Toss or Toss). The target marker or direction arrow, are in view at all times and so the ASL is not needed. Update: It has been confirmed, by DECOY, that the ASL is being worked on. 16/7/19. ..

Is there anybody actually saying that, or did you just make it up? Why would anybody not want it to work correctly? ..

She certainly has, great looking legs. ..

The large RN 24, 10 kt. nuke is completely useless, so let's see if the titchy RN 28 is any good. I use to be able to lob this about 5.2 miles, but now it's just over 4, so already it looks bad. The reason for the shortfall is the rapid reduction in speed after launch, as if it's retarded. The terminal velocity of this bomb, is less than a Mk 83 at its apex. Update: When dropped from 22000', the RN-28 bomb actually slows down to a terminal velocity of 340 kts. Safe drop is 15000' AGL. giving 4.0 nm distance. A mk 83, increases speed to 730 kts. for comparison.. ..

Dive Toss slicks, versus, Low Level Snakeye retarded. CCRP, (auto), using 12 x Mk 82 in a Dive Toss, Versus, Low Level 10 x Snakeye. Which is best in this case? Both cases need to be spotted visual and marked with DMT (Dual Mode Tracker) first. Convoy protected by: 1 x SA6 Kub, 1 x OSA 8, 1 x SA9 Strella, 5 x SA18 Igla, 1 x Shilka, 2 x Zu 23. The Osa is the most dangerous in the LL DT attack and will get you, if you don't get the job done by the 1st escape valley. So, will a Low Level, under the RADAR be better?. ..

It should do it, but it doesn't. So either use this work round or go without an outside view. (I've re-worded it, to save confusion) (Watch Pickle from the cockpit, then jump outside, F2 or F6, to see the bomb drop, or use CCIP). Bombs dropped at 400' or below at 500' interval cover the runway nicely. ..
