Will ED further improve existing fixed-wing a/c?

To the OP .... Link the resources, whose to say that they're even aware of these points? But I think Britglider is in the right ballpark -

Graphic issue, Aircraft Outline, No shader
3Sqn_Fudd replied to RedRiver's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is quite odd... I have played Lomac on a 6800nu, 7800gt, and now an 8800gts and I have never experienced these problems... on top of that I consider myself a driver junky and change them constantly. I think I would have experienced them by now... Some questions... are you reinstalling a clean set? ... Use Driver Cleaner Pro (i think it's still free somewhere... be sure to read the directions) and report back You even stated "Lots of problems during this install"... best of luck RedRiver -

You positive you have your native resolution running and that any AA or AF is on? Also, turn "adjust image setting with preview" to "Quality" and save... this is in the Nvidia control panel... do those things and I assure you that will go away The last recommendation sound like the culprit to me -
Stupid question about DVI connection..
3Sqn_Fudd replied to Alfa's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
you've got it resolved but here's a great resource on DVI... http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html Alpha... try to get a well shielded DVI cable if you can... Cheers -
Nice show... watched the whole thing Thanks for posting!

DDR, DDR2, DDR2 Dual channel 2x1GB=2GB??? aaargh!
3Sqn_Fudd replied to Pilotasso's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ahhhhh i see what you mean now... No, you get all the RAM, presuming you dont have some silly SPD problem. So the RAID (and indeed all HD's) allocation analogy doesn't apply to RAM. Pilotasso, what are your sources to buy from? Just out of interest. Remember when we were talking about heatsinks, do you still have that link I sent you? -
Yeh Aero, I didn't send you any PM's, but I did say the other day that I had to meet someone that had 1000 posts over 4 months... Hope you didnt take it the wrong way...

Pilotasso... Dont get caught up in the dust thing... a few seconds of blowing out with compressed air will handle it, something everyone should do every month anyways. Go for something that has the room you need and you can live looking at (95% of cases suck to look at.) Air flow wise, if you're into it, start thinking about how you could mod a nice looking case for better airflow. I cut a blow hole in my Coolermaster Praetorian and it dropped temps 8c. It took 1 hour to do. P180 is hard to cut... plastics are in between aluminum

ATI Radeon HD 2900XTX (R600) lost with knockout
3Sqn_Fudd replied to TorwaK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Something just doesn't add up with these early tests.... This test is telling me that 210 more mb of GDDR4 memory (2900XT vs 2900XTX) is only delivering 1.7 better frames on Elder Scrolls played at 1900x1200... That just doesn't seem right to me. Hell, look more closely.... this test is essentially screaming "do not buy a 2900xtx...get a 2900xt!"... Why would AMD build cards that perform like that? Beyond the Catalyst version whats the software test bed? XP... Vista? etc... And i'll make a short point about any fan boi that loves their brand... Competition is king... wish for it... AMD need some wins for us all. -
DDR, DDR2, DDR2 Dual channel 2x1GB=2GB??? aaargh!
3Sqn_Fudd replied to Pilotasso's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Pilotasso.... You'll be buying 2x1gig right? No worries, just put one in the first slot (looking from left to right) and another in the third and you'll be in dual channel... and there's no bios I have ever seen that sets single or dual channel. You may be thinking of 1t or 2t command rates With the chip I know you plan on buying the overclock wont come into play much, the multiplier will be above 8 so you're fine. CPU speed is still king. You're going with XP right? Buying 2x1 gig sets isnt that much cheaper at all, the reason you want to do it though is that they're from the same binning process and matched accordingly...Prices keep falling... keep watch... and if i may suggest a source, this guy is usually all over what to get DDR2 wise.. Shop around... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124283 -
To the OP.... It was unique it seems... Variable geometry, carrier capable, a mini awacs antennae, range, speed... Of course there's the AIM-54, regardless of scenario it kind of sucks to know that you're going to be fired on FIRST. Just imagine that beast with an updated Radar, Engine, and AIM-54... absolutely sick... Stealth be damned lol OT... stop by the 3Sqn TS sometime... I must meet someone who has joined 4 months ago and has had nearly 1000 posts

I dont know Pilotasso... Penryn is set to be a "game changer"... remember, software devs read too... If they think they can get away with A) crappier code and B) non multi threaded apps because of penryn... then they likely will for another software release. -

ok then... 1 month to 2 months... and I assume you're not overclocking, but I think that you should. It's not the 90's anymore when volt modding and jumper alterations were obligatory... ask Blaze, he was a first time overclocker and was nervous about it but he pulled it off! Motherboard - 965 or 975 ... their bioses/revisions are well developed and you wont be going SLI right? The only reason i ever see going for 680i/lt is STILL SLI... If bearlake is out, consider it. Processor - Intel E6420 if you are overclocking, The best Intel Quad Core if you're not... RAM - Depends on what OS you get. It a hunch because I don't have vista yet but, I consider XP= 2x1gig and Vista = 2x2gb (great memory sets are starting to appear for 2x2gb, Mushkin one for example).... 2x1 gig of DDR2 micron D9's from a company that has great service, what that is in Oz im not sure... as far as sets, bookmark and reference this when the time comes. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124283 GPU - All up to you, but consider most what resolution you play at... ATI seems to have had a driver advantage up until two days ago. It really depends on when ATI decides to release the R600's. Power Supply - I would go with an Corsair HX 620... short of that being available read this thread. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108088 Hard Drive - Yes Raptors for the win, but something sata and 16mb is the base. Best reference >>> http://www.storagereview.com/ Optical Drive - Something sata Case - Personal choice... just make sure its breezy Mouse/Keyboard - Choice again Operating System - Choice again Arctic Silver 5 - 6$ CPU Heatsink and Fan - Thermalright Ultima-90, read a review done by yours truly... http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=505058 Monitor - SIPS if you can... Sound Card - Dont have onboard sound if you can get away with it Speakers/Headphones - Choice again Shipping Costs - xx$ ... try to shop in one place and at one time, the gains for saving on shipping are usually good... -

All that text and you forgot to add the most important piece of the puzzle... When you're actually in the market to buy... Let us know and then we can help... several important changes are coming up... bearlake, barcelona, ddr3, HD 2xxx, intel price drops... also... what are you carrying over over to the next build? -

How to increase PK of Kh41?
3Sqn_Fudd replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Try flying closer.... when I was new and enamored with the Kh-41 I tried some attacks... IIrc fire at half of Rmax and you should be fine... I dont know if S-300's nab it though -
My understanding is that the Ospreys main purpose was to deliver "faster farther" performance for potential Marine sea borne invasions. The advent of cheap land based sea skimming anti ship missles has pushed an invasion force further away from a target shoreline... consequently MAU taskforces need things like hovercraft, fast beach assault craft, and a better solution to helicopters. in a nut shell.....
