Which LCD to get widescreen or regular?
3Sqn_Fudd replied to a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ditto on everything Kung said Cali... whats your budget buddy? If you can grab the 21inch Gateway FPD2185w at Best Buy for 500$ i would do so... I have it and love it, Shepski has one as well. Other than that i would make sure you actually VIEW the monitor before buying and have recourse if there are any dead/stuck pixels. As always... hit up LCD reviews -
Question answered...only to a degree though. It seems this is still a significant waste of a missles energy, and that any advantage would be allayed by the waste of energy. OT: The MBT Arena defense system seem very effective... anyone have research its field effectiveness? I think Tank technology is at least as interesting as aircraft technology. Chobham (Dorchester) armor, Arena, Shtora, Reactive Armor, DU, Electro Reactive Armor, Top Attack Missles... quite interesting

Wow.... For all you flight sim junkies I am AMAZED that no one has ever played my favorite for days gone by Microprose F-14 Fleet Defender (Gold) http://www.ibiblio.org/GameBytes/issue18/misc/f-14.html This game was awesome... You could pop into the back and be the RIO... used to totally work the keyboard while my dad flew

As mentioned before, I would highly reccomend ditching the Core isolation/procaff route and hitting up this page for the correct downloads. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html I never had a problem with dual core issues in LOMAC and my rig is nearly the same except its an Opteron rather than a X2 -
Finally!.......... Fluidity bliss....

Let me offer some advice to anyone.... Never play the waiting game on hardware... But first position yourself... It's far smarter to sell your gear while it still retains value... Case in point... I'm going to drop my 7800gt i bought 7 months ago and upgrade... On ebay ill get somewhere in the neighborhood of 180$ US for it and then grab a x1900xtx (or something else) for 320$ US... a difference of 140$... 140$ over a 6 month time frame is 23$/month... Thats good value for the scale of the upgrade... Other upgrade paths are a bit more difficult but the thought remains the same... -
Hrmmmmm, wonder if this will pan out http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=1930352&enterthread=y

Agreed... Turn Mirrors off as well
-
I'm all for it.... I'd man up a Grumble or Pac-3 any day Awacs would be the ultimate though
-
May i ask...why are you planning for an Fx-55? Im not sure of the numbers in your cost benefit analysis but I think it would make more sense for your future system to have one of the 4mb Core 2 Duo's... They're quite impressive Also, I cant think of any meaningful situation where mirrors would be useful. I wish this game would be GPU dependent but thats the way it is

Hey there... I have a Opteron 165 @ 2.6Ghz paired with a 7800gt. I run Lomac with most everything on high at a resolution on 1680x1050. I think i get an average of 40 fps in normal combat conditions. Could be more or less. What i think you're getting at is, why doesnt lomac run at 150fps on your rig? Wellllllll that will be answered by someone who has more knowledge than me but what it comes down to is that Lomac is very very CPU dependent. I think even the new Intel Conroes serve up a 10% boost (not toally sure.) Lomac will someday run at 150 fps while you're spooling up at gudauta but by that time you'll be much more interested in another ED flightsim. Cheers!

ok..... i just talked to Polecat... he's getting DOUBLE the frames he used to... More from him later I'm sure!
-
Buddy...you read my mind.... I too wonder how this cpu could tackle LOMAC Wait.... Polecat has one! Ill harass him for a run down
-
Mustang you're always one step ahead!! I have a dual core but am hesitant to try this because i never had the dual core/lomac problem... Any one with the problem try this yet?
-
Gooood work to Helix... I am enjoying it very much. My hats off to you

Not sure about 3 links vs. 1 link but here's the big difference.... the FX series, no matter it dual core or single all have unlocked multipliers. This allows one to very simply overclock them. I'm not sure what some guys get with FX's, but on vapor its maybe around 3.6.

Anyone know of a place where we could post tracks for ourselves (as we argue...lol) and developers? It would help focus our arguments about missle behavior.

Not a FX-60 per se but I have my AMD Opteron 165 @ 2.7, faster than a FX-60 and its pretty nice... Dual cores aren't anything special in terms of "straight line speed" but the chip is very responsive. FLoyd let us know if thast code actually worked... mine didn't And yes to Multi threaded Intels having problems too... Unfortunate. Has anyone been asked for disk re-check yet? and if you have did you clear it?
-
Ok a few more responses and I think we can peg this to Dual Core issues.... but why 1.12a and not 1.12?
-
Yay for opinions! Wait... errrrm noooo opinions are evil...
-
Awww GG.... You dont even want me to get started on what the Raytheon and BAE have held back on ... It's the AIM-131 DamnRaam! It'll strip the paint off your aircraft and give your RIO a permenant orange afro!
-
Hold on... we need to really get things out in the open here.... I need to have it cleared with my superiors, but im about to show you proof that not only can the Su-27 carry R-77's and the new R-27eX v.24's.... but there's the more advanced R-92 ... R-92 Specs Range: Rmax- 400km Rmin- 60cm Size: bout the size of an Amraam Speed: Mach 50 Guidance: Seeker head has Fully Active Foppler (yes Foppler!,) all-aspect Thermal homing, laser designated guidance, and terminal acoustic guidance. THATS 4 in one!!! G-loads- it can pull 900 g's It was made in 1992, mass produced but held in reserve in case "something" happened...brb...lemme find that site
