  1. Am I missing a step here? I often fly against folks that can see and track me beyond my ability to see their aircraft. I literally watch their plane disappear at a certain distance. I usually fly the Pony or the Spit against folks that can set up Boom-n-Zoom attacks on me way before I can see their aircraft. I actually hear them before I see them! How are they be seeing me when their plane isn't drawing for me graphically. I have a Radion R9 8Gig video card and a Samsung 28" 4K monitor, with max settings. What am I missing? I don't mind being out flow by a good pilot, but out gamed by taking advantage of a video fart? V
  2. Nevermind... a PC reboot allows activation. Apparently it was hidden under the Armour. I suggest download the map, run DCS, activate it, then exit. Then download the Armour, start up DCS and activate it. That way one activation doesn't cover the other. V
  3. For those just now downloading 2.1 for the first time for the purpose of getting the WWII map, and do not have the Nevada map are having issues. They are not seeing the WWII map after install, or getting the prompt to enter the activation code. I believe the map didn't install to the right place. I remember we had to make a path before installing the Nevada map before we could download it. I think these new folks are missing that step. Anyone remember what we did back then? I sure don't. V
  4. yup, one of my squadron mates told me. I was missing the L+shift. Thanks, already downloading. S! V
  5. I open the bin folder, right click, and get the standard windows box.., no cmd prompt to type anything in... V
  6. 2.0 is updated to 2.1.yadda yadda yadda. I bought the early access + all accesss WWII bundle, and show in my purchase history with their key codes at the DCS website... yet they are not showing up in my module manager for download and install. Activation usually takes place during the install, correct? What am I missing? Regards, V
  7. You can stall an airplane at any speed, and at any attitude. If you pull hard enough, you will pass the Critical Angle Of Attack. The Spit CAOA is quite generous. The Pony's? That's another story. It departs if you look at it funny. Very narrow CAOA modeled into it in DCS. V
  8. Not all Black Sheep members have purchased to Spitty yet, but we have added 4 aircraft to our P-51D vs The Luftwaffe, and ground pounding mission. To say that our success against the German aircraft has improved is a drastic understatement! The climb performance against both the 190 and 109 is astounding. We have found ourselves caught a little off guard "at first" with the closure rates we get particularly on the 109 in the vertical. The pitch characteristics are surprising as well... Flying the narrow critical-angle-of-attack and quick departure characteristics currently modeled in the Pony initially made us a bit timid when pulling to the vertical. The Take-off handling can be a bit squirrely, but I've pretty much mastered the landings. I found putting in a curve of about 30 into the break axis with my CH Rudder Pedals gives me very stable directional control during landing roll out. I make approaches at 120mph, flare over the numbers about 100mph, then bleed down almost stalling right at a 3-point touchdown, then apply breaking. Dead center roll out every time. Nice new addition in the DCS WWII stable. Makes one want to abandon the P-51D due to its characteristic inadequacies in this arena. S! V
  9. As a modeler, you my find modeler resources very helpful, I.e., F-14 Tomcat Walk Around, F -14 In Action, and F-14: Lock On to name a few. They have great referances of the cockpit. V
  10. Question about the new API, and APIT .50cal rounds from the latest update. Is it just listing the hits as such, or has the ammo actually been changed from simple slugs? And... has its effectiveness on damage models been changed as well? V
  11. I set 1,100ft and don't touch it again. 109: 33ft wing span, FW: 34ft wingspan. Set it to either and don't worry about it again. I rarely shoot beyond 1,100ft, but if I end up in close, the gyro is useless and I change to the stationary gun site. Scenario: I'm closing on a bandit's 6, I have the gyro set. I'm set to get the most rounds on tgt when the wingspan confirms I'm at the 1,100ft range. If the fight turns into a duel, the gun site goes to stationary and I determine my own deflection shooting. V
  12. I would like to see an LSO spawn point at the LSO platform. Additional spawn points in Vultures row for observers, and if do-able, model the Pri-Fly, and bridge spaces and make is spawnable for observers as well. V
  13. Finally got a WWII server up in 2.0 and was curious to find out how far out aircraft can get before they disappear in the new engine... In a scissor with a 109... he gave up the ghost and went to the vertical... I watched him as he climbed effortlessly away - a complaint for a different thread. ;-) ... Once tail on aspect and about 700-1,000 ft above me, the 109 completely disappeared... Can we get this fixed? soon! V
  14. The sky's were not exactly covered with K-4s and Dora's in late 44-45. Seeing G models would be awesome. 190 A4-6 as well to make these match ups on line more historical. V
  15. Off line free flight to get familiar with characteristics, on line dogfights on AGC server. V
  16. Here's a train of thought about stalling and getting pre-buffet from a wing. You can stall a wing at any SPEED, any ATTITUDE, and at any ALTITUDE. Even in a straight down dive... if you pull hard enough to reach the Critical Angle of Attack (CAoA), the wing stalls or departs. Of course, in a scenario like that, the plane AND the pilot would have to survive the ordeal to get to that point. If you're in a turn fight and start experiencing buffet, that's your hint that you're at the limit of that wing. Slats help and maybe a notch of flaps to change the AoA reconfigures the wing, thus changing the CAoA. Hope that helps. V
  17. Sorry for the tone in part of my assessment. I in no means was trying to pass myself off as "Mr 109". Hell, I flew it just once after a few free flights off-line! I was simply conveying where the 109 took me. I did not try to turn fight with Pony's. I stayed fast and climbed away if I missed - which was only once. The compact gunnery the 109 has makes it easy to shoot. I noted the roll rate was slower than I had anticipate, and if you get into a high-steep dive, plan on compressibility taking you directly to your hole in the ground. My issue is "DM aside, I realize that is incomplete now" with its acceleration, speed, and climb capabilities. The closure rates seem comparable to a Me-262 with the Pony instead of a fellow prop driven aircraft. The performance characteristics between the two airframes seem way too broad. Granted, the K4 was a LOT of airplane, but not THAT much. V
  18. Is there a consideration for the water levels for the radiators after they've been hit. I believe they are not self-sealing. Once perforated, especially by a round like .50cal, those tanks should run dry in minutes. Eminent engine failure shortly after. I see water vapes off 109's lasting a LONG time. Just curious. V
  19. I've had it for a while and decided to finally set up my CH controls. All I have to say about this thing is... "You've GOT to be kidding me"!!! My first flight in this monster was devastating to any P-51 that was around me. I could evade, dis-engage and re-engage at will. I felt as if I were flying something decades ahead of the P-51... and I got board with it. There was no challenge. Please tell me this beast is still in Beta and not finalized. V
  20. Wheel landings are suppose to be the easiest in tail draggers, yet they've made them so hard to do in this FM. The struts are WAY to bouncy. I just don't even bother anymore.
  21. BE STILL MY HEART!!! As a Blacksheep member (BSS) since 1999, we are truly looking forward to flying our favorite fighter again, and conducting authentic carrier ops. As a retired Naval Aircrewman, I tought our members how to properly fly around the ship via CVNATOPS. Hours flying CQ without ever firing a shots! We've had members suspend flight simulation until a PTO sim surfaces again. The Sheeps Pen will be over-flowin'!!! When we get our sever up, join in... we'll show you how to do it right! 22. So, I guess after over 70 hits that's a no? LOL V
  23. I noticed it's difficult to get precision trim inputs and I found out why. This example is in the P-51D, but I guessing it's in all modules. I noticed when I set up key/buttons to the K-14 distance and wingspan controls, I don't have precision speed control over the functions. The distance real and wingspan lever go fast enough that they overshoot my intended setting making me slew back and forth till I eventually get it close enough. I figured the same thing was happening when I try to trim, but never quite seem to get there. I looked in the controls menu, but I don't see any capability to slow down input reactions from the keyboard/joystick. Is there a way to slow down inputs for better control to sim functions? V
  24. The Blacksheep (BSS) are all ways looking for new people to fly with. This squadron was established in the fall of 1999 when Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2 Pacific Theater was released. We are all over the age of 35 and do not require a regiment of flying to be a member. Life comes first, and fly when you can. We are a high-spirited group and very competitive. We have several Airline pilots, retired military, and active duty military aviators in the squadron - including a U.S. Air Force Chaplain that strive to have fun, camaraderie, re-enact flight, and authentic tactics. We look forward to DCS: WWII !!! Info to contact us and log on to our TeamSpeak server can be found on our website: BSS214.com S! V
